  1. Cool pic! A real Red Power shot. Tim
  2. These kits are 1960's technology. The cab will give you fits when it comes time to install the doors as they are very fiddly to get the inner panel and hinges installed. Tim
  3. With the longer frame, you could fill the space with some longer fuel tanks. Or extra Pete style tanks. The AMT kit tanks might look too small with the long wheelbase. Tim
  4. I like your front axle reworking. Tim
  5. Very carefully ! Anymore I knock down the rivets a bit during initial construction so that they aren't so tall, that way I lessen the chance of polishing through and exposing them. I still do.. and have to carefully apply touch-up paint to them later. Tim
  6. Those parts ended up on another truck long ago..
  7. Round Evergreen rod sliced. Tim
  8. Opening it and taking in the parts is the best part of getting a long desired kit. Tim
  9. #3 for 2011. I started this one in mid-summer last year in my painting blitz. Krylon School Bus Yellow is the main color. The real truck is a 2006 Peterbilt 378 built in the old Madison, Tennessee plant. The truck was photographed by a truck-fan out west. The unique combination of yellow and black with some polished items yet black battery box and painted wheels with polished wheels on the lift axle made this truck unique and interesting - in other words, a prime candidate to build a model of. The Inspiration I started with the old version of the Italeri 378, swapped in a sleeper from the 377 and cut it down to 36" and made the roof from the flattop Revell of Germany sleeper. I stretched the frame and scratchbuilt the lift axle. Resin front wheels from AITM, rears and lift axle from Kit Form Services. I still have to install the roof mounted amber beacons, CB antennas and touch up the yellow on some of the huck rivets where I polished through the paint. More pics are on my site at TimsTrucks.com Thanks for looking! Tim
  10. Here is #2 for 2011. I started this in 2004 modifying the hood, cab and fairings and making the bumper and painting the body. It sat in the box until last fall when I built the chassis. On the bench On the highway Here is where polishing pays off - I polished with 3M rubbing compound, Surf City Garage Beyond Clay and Mothers Carnuba Wax. More pics are on the workbench page of TimsTrucks.com Thanks for looking! Tim
  11. Nicely done. The all red tractor is spot on for the old livery of Texaco. Tim
  12. This is gonna look cool! I've wanted to do a daycab with the Ultraroof. Tim
  13. That's the kit grille screen - molded on. Early 359's ('67 until '69) had the 2 bar grille (to disguise the wide grille as the chief engineer at the time didn't like the looks of the wide hood, the 2 bars were to keep the hood from looking too wide - the problem was that the 2 bars weren't strong enough to keep the bug screen from blowing in at highway speeds so a third bar was added.. and The Look began). The AMT kit has the original style grille. The 3-bar grille from the AMT T501 Peterbilt 359 will fit just fine to update to the 3 bar grille. Tim
  14. Red with black fenders - a good choice. Tim
  15. Since the Forum was down when I went to post this... Here is the first one I finished in 2011 - finished New Year's weekend. The Inspiration Additional pics and build information is on the work bench pageon my site at timstrucks.com Thanks for looking! Tim
  16. There doesn't appear to be severe damage type breakage, just breakage (does that make sense?). A monumental task rebuilding them - but a good rainy day project(or two). Tim
  17. Clay Nice LargeCar Pete ! Tim
  18. Way too many to include in one post... 2010 What's in store for 2011? More builds I hope. Now post your builds or progress for the year! Thanks for looking. Tim
  19. The Ox Blood Red seemed to change a bit over the years - getting lighter as time went on. I use dark red with a little bit of black lightly rubbed over the upholstery. Tim
  20. You're off to a great start. The dark background with the light stripes will look nice. Tim
  21. Nicely done! A clean fleet-look to it. Tim
