  1. It's a Michigan thing.. more axles more more more ! The trailer is a fictional one for Autore - their biggest is a 6 axle. Tim
  2. I finally was able to get some workbench time and wrap this project up. Autore Oil and Propane Peterbilt 388 daycab. The Autore lettering was made by Charles Rowley and the pin stripes and scrolls are from Kit Form Services. The decals make the model. The hood is scratchbuilt and a twin to it became the P&P 388 hood. I modified the cab for the newer doors, windows, and fabricated the daycab panel and the mirrors. The interior features the P&P door panels, steering wheel and instrument panel. The trailer was built in '03 or '04 using the then-current reissue of the tanker with the CCR and Texaco decals. I think I used every spare tire, wheel and suspension piece I had in the parts boxes back then. Additional pics are on my site at TimsTrucks.com and in the album on Fotki Thanks for looking! Tim
  3. An interesting point to new model kits or diecast is that manufacturers try to sway toy companies into specific products to promote their cause. If a truck manufacturers prime market is aero trucks, they try to sway the toy makers into the same line of thought, not taking into consideration that the toy market doesn't parallel the sales of real trucks in style or model preferences. Tim
  4. Back in the day, the Holmes 750 and 850 were considered big. Tim
  5. Looks like you've 'dodged' the subject.. Tim
  6. That excavator is sweet !!! Tim
  7. I've reworked my website - hosting pics on Fotki instead of the web hosting server. Okay, so the links work - so here's the recent progress pic on my Pete 388. Tim
  8. John, Wonderful build! The CN scheme stands out nicely. Tim
  9. Yup... And it was FP2000. Donated to the old PlasticCowboy website by a modeler back in 2002. The program is still stable, but for large websites with thumbnails and links and such it gets easily overwhelmed. The biggest drawback is that it doesn't remove images/files from the server when removed from the webpage. So.. what that means is every photo ever added stays on the server in one folder - creating a HUGE mess. I could have gone through and individually deleted photos - if I knew exactly which ones were still on the site and which ones were old deleted versions. 4900+ images.. I'd be working on that for 10 years. It was time to move on - so I did. Now my work in building the new begins. Tim
  10. Okay, it looks like the version of my site is pretty much gone as I had to take it down and remove the offending files - okay, I had overloaded both the server and FrontPage.. I'm switching web editor programs and am rebuilding my site. It will be VERY different from the old. Hopefully easier to manage and maintain without the every 2 year crash due. Tim
  11. Indeed - server problems - upload problems - you name it. I don't have a time frame as to when it will be back up. Tim
  12. Here are some of my straight trucks from about 5 years ago Brockway 759 White-Western Star White 3000 Western Star Pete and Ford Ford Ford C And a Peterbilt I have a dozen or so more from over the years. Tim
  13. The sort of building that you study and hope to learn from.
  14. Jerry, the level of building demonstrated is far and above my level of building. I could only wish to have the patience (eyesight too) for that level of chassis detail. Tim
  15. Great detail work on the battery boxes (everything else too!) Tim
  16. Both the original Titan/90 and Astro/95 had the bus-type mirrors, smaller grab handles and round turn signals. The revamped reissues (the ATL, Steelcase and later beer logo issues) had the mid-70's longer grab handles, west-coast mirrors, square turn signals, step ladders, Dragfoiler deflector, exhaust options, air cleaner options, battery box options, CB radio, highback seats, roof lighting and air horn options, windshield visor and round fuel tank options. Tim
  17. Yes! Same as the Titan/90 and Astro/95, the Bison and General were clones with different grilles, hood ornaments and badging. Just like a Chevy or GMC Pickup or the era. GM build code: "Convert GMC to Chevrolet." Tim Tim, with the matter of the kits aside, the real Bison and General trucks were alike, right??
