These cars were real POS, but they were sure unique looking. My GF's sister owned one and I heard horror stories.

Of course I also understand wanting to build a model of your car.  I have that '75 Gremiln X kit too, because of its unique look.

I'm curious: what are the visual differences between '75 and the '73? Is it just the details of the "C" pillar?

What would be really cool is if you could get those stripes done in metallic gold.

I kind of think it's how the car lived. I had a Gremlin with 3 spd manual and a 6 banger, a 76 Hornet X V8 hatchback, a 78 Concord two door 6 cylinder with auto trans, 78 Concord wagon six with automatic. All were dead nutz reliable cars. These were all based on the same platform.

Went to Ollie's which is down to the unwanted kit's . A case worth of: Green Hornet 1/32 cars, Mach5 speed racer, and Star Trek. I bought the only Big Rig Semi Trailer they had. Wished I would have left it though! Got ready to build it and No darn TIRES! Yes it was still factory sealed!

Ollies can be hit or miss when it comes to selections.  As far as missing wheels go and it being a sealed kit...Ollies puts there price tag on the kit after taking the manufacturer's wrapping off, and then reseals the kit. They could have lost the tires in that manner. The reason Ollies does this is because a lot of people buy the kits and resell on eBay  or other places after removing a price tag from a discount house. Now the only way to remove Ollies tag is to remove the wrap and thereby losing the sealed kit advantage in price. A reseal also might have the seal seam in an odd place like across the front of the box. The manufacturer would never do that.

I happened on the Tamiya site and saw their 1:24 scale slot car m body parts set for $5.00! I wasn't even sure what the "M" body represented, but I ordered four on the spot :)

A little bit of digging later, and it turns out Tamiya was calling these slot bodies by code letters - probably to avoid paying for the names. The codes would seem to refer to the following:

    #25116 "F" body is the Ferrari 330P2

    #25117 "L" body is the Lotus 40

#25118 "K" body is referred to as the Shelby "King Cobra", but is in fact its cousin the DeTomaso P70 designed by Peter Brock (albeit with rear wheels exposed ala the DeTomaso 5000 Sport).

#25119 appears to be unrelated to slot car bodies.

#25120 "LO" body is the Lotus 30

#25121 "LT" body is the Lola T70

#25122 is the McLaren Elva which I purchased

    #25123 "P" body is the Porsche 906

Man I thought I'd be getting cheap bodies but those other ones you posted are expensive. The "M" is the only one at $5.00. But I did order that one.

  4. Only one car kit but this does have two variations for color graphics. I really wish they would do a standard Charger Turismo/Duster Turismo. The headlight area would need to be retooled to a quad set up as well as the hood shape. I would think that could be done without ruining more issues of the Shelby.

Landed today, having seen two pick-up truck conversions on various sites, but this will be a commercial version.

Have that one too, as well as the original Revell kit of the Trabant. There was a TV show where people took three of these on a trip from Berlin to Laos. One heck of an adventure. They outlasted their Mercedes Benz support vehicle.

This is my actual 1/8 Pocher '32 Rolls gloobomb in all its grotty glory. I posted having received it earlier, but hadn't done a photo dump to my computer yet.

It's about 98% complete, but will need a full rebuild...which is OK, 'cause it's getting a custom body anyway.

I could see this as a very detailed barn find diorama. Imagine a dusty Rolls found in the old estate barn with a property caretaker and a couple of gentlemen from the local branch of the Royal Veteran Motor Society sizing it up. Dust it up a bit and add cobwebs.  Leave the radiator grille as is with it's louvers lying askew as they are. Dried grimy dirt in and around the engine compartment with a bird nest maybe. Wooden beam floor, part of the structure to give the impression of walls and a single green shade lamp bulb hanging from a wire to dimly illuminated their find.

Just checked Gregg, sorry, all I could find was one good one, one with the spokes painted and one with the lip of the rim sanded off.

The AMT wheels do look more like the ones in your first pic then the Boyds in the large pic.

Another kit with similar wheels is the Monogram '55 Ford pickup. A bit larger diameter though.

Thanks, Can-Con. What was real interesting was the Mangel wheels looked better IMO, cost less, plus the center caps interchanged with the Boyds. Those wheels looked really nice on my 83 Mercury Marquis Brougham wagon (current project, 3D printed body. The 55 Chevy Pick ups are easy to find and the wheels were the same in several iterations of that kit.

  8. Thanks everyone for looking. Seems the closest is to get them from a 55 step side. What I had on my old wagon were a lot different than the Fittipaldis shown from the 3D files. My old Mangels were a copy of a Coddington wheel but looked a bit better IMO.  These are Boyd's wheels which I think is the wheel in the 55 Stepside kit.1726254509_2018-06-2514_07_37.jpg.44a5a8f6ff97388d61bc92e7e5bcee65.jpg.a303add66e59d8431e4c79ce4c482bb5.jpg
