  1. tamiya semi gloss black is a good choice.
  2. chas is correct about createx paints. you can use lacquer clear over them without a problem. give them a day to dry all the way out before clearing.
  3. black gold also sells the primer for under their paint. you can get it for airbrush or in a spray can. as the other guys mentioned duplicolor and plasticoat will work also.
  4. there are a few shows close to your area, toledo ohio nnl in oct, three rivers in pittsburg this month and old potbelly show in new stanton pa in nov. i have to check my list.....i'm sure i can come up with a few more. i will be at most of them, hope to see you at one
  5. i don't have the airbags....but are you still looking for the 359 driveshafts? i have them if you need them.
  6. this build is very nice in person also, i had the pleasure to meet and enjoy the ckm nnl event with adam. he and his models are first class all the way.
  7. use tamiya masking tape, it doesn't seem to leave residue on your parts.
  8. i'm just curious who will be at fault next?????????????????
  9. donn is right, get something on the table and start learning. cover all your modeling basics and enter into a boxstock class. this will keep you from going up against all the aftermarket stuff and scratchbuilt builds. i build to compete, but i'll answer any question a fellow modeller may have. the main thing is to have fun and keep getting better, it's addictive.
  10. rick, thanks for the pics and it was a pleasure to meet you saturday......"even if you tried to run off with my wheels" i will be spending more money with you in the near future, see you soon.
  11. thanks for posting the pics. i was glad i got to meet you, hope to see you there next year.
  12. hey i remember that bike, i helped judge that class. looks good, can't wait to see what the next one will be.
  13. thanks for posting some pics of the show. a couple of those builds look real familiar
  14. hope you can make it, it's always great to see your work on the tables. talk to you later my friend
  15. cool little build, great job for your first truck build. hopefully i will see it saturday at the show. be sure to introduce yourself, it's great to meet new people and fellow forum members.
  16. sounds like someone has their "game face" on. hope to see you there
  17. hotel reservations are made and we will be there friday night from winchester virginia. this will be my first time attending, looks like it will be worth the 6hr drive. see you there.
  18. let me phrase it another way then, howard from kfs has never heard of this problem, i have never had this problem or anybody else that has used this item has had this problem. seems as though you are the only one with this problem, so maybe the problem is something you or your friend done while installing them. that was my reason for the "user" phrase. i meant nothing negative by it, i would trace your steps back and see if you may have done someting different on some but not the others. i would like to know what could have caused this also so i can make sure it doesn't happen on my future builds. if you still feel resentment toward me then so be it, join the club
  19. the rust issue is being caused by humidity or another source of moisture. i have bought and used about ten sets of these wheels with no problems. kfs makes a great product, i think its the user and not the item.
  20. i will be there, what are you bringing this time around?
  21. these hinges work great. they are very picky to work with but create a very realistic and well working hinge. after you get the hang of bending them properly you will love them. you might not have any hair left once you reach this point though
  22. very clean build......you could teach a lot of these guys on here how to do a build properly. looks like you have all your modelling basics covered, very clean division on your paint scheme, seam lines eliminated etc etc. very nice build!!!!!!!!!
  23. i was at the mda show for the first time this year and i think dennis and the guys done a great job. registration went smooth, table space was great and the judging was very accurate. you must be new to contests or base the outcome on your opinion of what should have won. a few classes had some really nice builds but some of them had injector pin marks, seam lines and the list goes on. the judges have to base thier decisions on many different things to pick a winner, not just paint, subject matter or who built it. as far as the same people winning......this was my first time to this show and i won my class and best in show. just remember that the judges have a tough job picking the winners and sometimes they may make a few mistakes. this is just the human element and we all know that it's not perfect.
