  1. Thats really cool! Makes me wanna build a truck just to try it out!
  2. Thats cool! I'm tempted to do one myself!
  3. I wouldn't call them "clear", I'd say semi-transparent.. I believe they were made out of polyethylene, I know my overflow tank is.
  4. cool! what is the interior from?
  5. Awesome color combo, one of my favorite combos on the tri-5's! Nice stance too, just awesome!
  6. diy, does this mean you actually think a Turbo Trans Am came with a slant 6???
  7. Its a Trans Am with a V8, and judging by the wheels on it it's a Turbo T/A with the 4.9L
  8. I'm not gunna say real or model, I vote "fake" because its obviously photoshopped..
  9. I totally agree, and even the model companies should strive for perfection, but we live in an imperfect world. I wouldn't quite say I'm part of the "lunatic fringers" yet but I'm trying real hard and getting to know just how small a group it really is
  10. Ahh, another crappy photoshop... The front wheel was used as the back wheel too, too bad Lambo's don't have quadrasteer!
  11. As far as I can see, just about any kit has basic accuracy if you can roughly put it together and it looks like a car at the end. As a fabricator, its very easy to look at a print and make something mirror image by mistake. There are a lot of shuffling things around and making things in relation to one another. These models aren't being made to save somebody's life with a brain transplant or anything, it's for us to be able to work with in our HOBBY. They make them as decent as they can while still being able to make enough money. So they make an occasional mistake with a door handle or other small thing, that's where we as modelers step in and work our magic. Most of us aren't building models to make money, so we can afford to spend a little extra time on fixing it. If you hang with a group that IS picky enough to notice small things like that, then you can tell them how you made it right to look EXACTLY like the real thing (even though it still won't be exact ). To me, thats all part of what comes with the hobby, the nature of the beast if you will. Bravo to these companys for making the right decisions over the years to still be around to give us more kits to work with
  12. Not that it matters a whole lot, but very few 49 mercs made it to 200,000 miles. People didn't drive NEARLY as much back then. Another thing is you say it has to be domestic and not a sub-compact, but how many VW's were floating around in '69? I guess what I'm trying to get at is what exactly are you trying to capture with the vehicles in this build? 1969 was a whole lot different than now, and I think if you want to really capture the time period you have to open it up more.
  13. I see you have the DVD with the special features too
  14. Dont forget all the new Cadillacs that got rammed in the dealer lot
  15. I recently saw a post that had a close-up of the nose of a car. The close-up showed a BIG run in it and people were commenting on how nice the paint was. I couldn't believe it, but obviously you dont want to bash anybody. Everybody gives it their best effort, and depending on your experience some people just can't see whats wrong with their work. Constructive criticism is good, but I couldn't think of a way to point out the defect without sounding like a jerk, so I didn't post.
  16. the reflections make it tough... and a Cadillac without whitewalls is a SHAME!
  17. I think its a model, those wheels and tires look too fake to me...
  18. I'm thinkin thats a model, but I might be thinkin wrong... First gut instinct told me it was a model, then I looked closer and was tempted to vote real, but I still say model...
  19. There are a lot of people out there who see the same thing, maybe you should get out more? I just so happen to like building models and joined this site, and since the topic came up I thought I'd share what I think (thats the point right?)... Aren't you just a "helluva guy"? Go ahead guys, keep bashing me, I got thick skin Seems like this is the only thread where more than 2 people have ACTUALLY replied to something I've posted. I thought modelers were more of a friendly breed than most, I'm being shown the opposite by a few people in this thread...
  20. Ok, you bash on me for saying things that you think are "offensive." Then, after you're shown to be the uninformed one and things are mended, you come out with this ridiculousness. I'd venture to say that YOU are the insane meth addict. I'd really like this to be civil, like you inferred, but unfortunately you can't stick to what you say. You obviously want to turn this into a "battle of wits", rather than sticking to the matter at hand. Now you've offended ME, DIRECTLY. Also, I'm actually very "with it" and I'm totally clean, I'll even send you some of my pee if you want it How's that for offensive? Should I turn it up a notch?
  21. Actually I haven't been watching anything as I dont even have basic cable. At least you agree there are some parallels, you're paying more attention than these other clowns.
  22. scroll down to "list of czars" this guy supports mass sterilization through your water supply this lady is a member of Socialist International As I said, do a little research and you'll find what you need to see Obama isn't a good guy at all. If John Holdren doesn't scare you, I don't know what will. But I might be wrong, maybe you'd like to be sterilized and/or poisoned through the public water supply. The Constitution was very well thought out, and they've trampled over every bit of it to ensure they have power over us. Wake up guys, look at the laws being passed and god forbid you should put 2 and 2 together...
