I use the sealer #1699 for most of my work.....and I use it as a 'scale' primer.......I do sand it. There is no one correct way....what works for me may not work for others. I just share what works for me......it or a variation of my way may work for others. thx

I just primed three kits today, two of Revell's Porsche 911 with the hard white plastic and another kit that is of AMTs softer gray plastic. Both of the Revell's crazed. Not super bad, but it took a good bit of sanding to get the finish ready to take paint. I've noticed that is the case in a lot of my kits with that harder white plastic.
With what primer??? I think there is a difference between primer and the primer-sealer #1699.

Dupli-color sealer has never given me any issues on any brand model cars or my model trains.

Thanks Guy,
I bought the AT-ACT, cargo version of the AT-AT, and it went together much as the U wing. No painting on the AT-ACT but molded in two colors. Bet thing is the model is fully articulated and is very solid. It could almost be used to film stop action it works so well. Can't wait for the film.

For the life of me, I can't understand the people who buy from PJ Toys. I recently was looking for a set of zoomies for a current build, PJ showed up in my search and wanted as much for them as a complete kit. Why not just buy a whole kit and have all those extra parts for other builds?
Didn't P.T. Barnum figure that out years ago???

I have a lot of stuff I'd like to move.....but it's low priced stuff that once you count my time, Paypal fees, ebay fees, shipping.......you end up with almost nothing. So they sit in the basement.

Is the Ford on the trailer a complete kit?
It's the Pyro/Palmer whatever copy of the AMT kit. Fair but not as nice.

The 1/8 Canary kit is kinda cool!!! It has TONS of extra parts....wheels, carbs, tanks and lights. I may need another.

ebay is not the cause of local shows getting smaller, shops closing or other issue it gets blamed for.
As a Sr Analyst for the number one bank in the US (now retired) change is the only constant in retailing.
In another 20 years, if we are still here, no one born before 1970 we recognize retailing in any way......
CHANGE created ebay, amazon and others....they alone did not create this change.

I have a number of those kits.........I sought them out after I bought my 1/1 scale Smart Fortwo. The kit is the Euro car which shares nothing with the US model body wise and few mechanicals.
I owned two of them and sold both but never for few of it's safety. I sold them because I was 4-5 hours from a dealership and MB made many items on the car serviceable only by MB.....which I dislike so sold them.
But when I owned them and was active in the Smart car clubs I saw a number of photos of real Smarts involved in bad wrecks.....they did shed wheels and tires as such and even some of the plastic panels but even in wrecks involving much bigger vehicles, even a few 18 wheelers, never a serious injury.....not among club members. I think they are safe.....but a PAIN to maintain.

I bought a 1/43 die cast car from a seller in the UK once. It was sent registered mail as it was not cheap. Seller put 'gold car' in customs description. (it was a Lotus painted gold) Needless to say it never made it to me. Got my money back but USPS was not really interested in finding out the what or why it went missing. Pretty sure they know they have thieves on staff but easier to pay out than find issue.
