  1. Thanks for the nice comments, I have changed directions again, the front suspension did not come out right when I finally got the body on the chassis. So I have made tie rods and a new front linkage system. Pics to follow.
  2. Ok, back on this project after almost 3 years.http://i271.photobucket.com/albums/jj150/limoman39/photobucket-1860-1350605223854.jpg]http://
  3. OMG, this is one awesome build!!! I would not change anything.. Including the front tires! Gives the car character. Thanks for sharing. Rick
  4. Sorry Donn, I was quoting from memory, and that doesn't always work out so well at my age. Guess what I should have done is give my endorsement of your work and directed him to your website. Thanks again for an excellent product. Rick Rossman
  5. This is a great tip, the possibilities are endless for items you could make. Thanks for the post Modlbldr... Rick
  6. Thanks Guys, Yes, this is exactly the type of things I am looking for. Charlie, I am familiar with your website. I had already bookmarked a couple of your tips. I will be heading back over there as soon as I am done here. Marcos, love the strombergs. Will have to check that stuff out too... Thanks again, Rick
  7. That would be helpful Jason, Thanks for the post
  8. I think I can come up with a way to do my carb linkages, but could someone give me a few tips on plumbing please? Looks like I could spend about 500 bucks on this model, which lines do I need for 1/25? What fittings work best for what?? And, how do you get the red and blue anodized look on these fittings??? Thanks Rick
  9. I too purchased these CD's and would highly recommend them for the beginner or someone like myself that has been away from the hobby for a while. For the person asking about the cost, I believe both CD's were around 70 bucks US with the shipping. Rick..
  10. Kyle, You came to the right place, I only joined this site a short time ago but the members here have helped beyond measure. My advice: be creative, have fun, use glue sparingly, and spray paint whenever possible. Good luck with the Merc, Rick
  11. Great advice.... Both of you... Thanks guys Rick
  12. No, Donn's 2nd video did not really cover methods. He did show some examples of things he has done and gave an idea of where parts came from. Maybe he is leaving room for a 3rd video. If you do Donn, just go ahead and charge my CC and send it to me... :-) I have used telephone wire myself for ign wire. Tried to use small heat shrink for boots but that didn't work out too well. Thanks, Rick
  13. Hello All, Getting ready to get back to my Mustang Drag car project now that the holidays are behind us. Just finished watching Donn Yost's 2 DVD's, great work Donn. Lots of very good tips.... I highly recommend them. Now, the reason for this post: Looking for tips, tricks, and resources for engine detailing. I know that there are about a million items online to help with detailing. What I am looking for is ideas about how to use these aftermarket items. Am looking for ideas pertaining to: carb linkage, fuel/oil line detail, ect.... Maybe even books or dvd's on the subject. Thank you, Rick
  14. This question is for Aaron, (Very enlightening post by the way) I have a decal sheet that I created with Corel Draw4, I have had no luck in printing these decals using my inkjet printer. Would you be willing or would you know of someone that would print this sheet for me using an Alps Printer? I have considered purchasing one for myself but I do not know if I would do enough with it to justify the cost. Thought if I could find someone that I could pay to do this when I need it might be better... Thanks to everyone on this site, it is truly a wealth of info!!! Rick
  15. Thanks Josh, Looks like your Mustang is coming along nicely. I need to get back on mine after the Holiday. Been very busy at work. I'll post more soon.... Rick
  16. Thanks George, The name is Rick.... Had a limousine service years ago back in O hi o. Everyone just called me that and it kinda stuck. Outta that now a days, living the dream in the world of Nascar.... Have a great day, stop by anytime my friend, Rick
  17. Hey thanks guys, A lot of great suggestions, I used Caine's suggestion with the MM Jet Exhaust for my mustang. Might try a couple of the others in the near future. I really appreciate the help...
  18. Ok Gang, Here are a few more shots of the Mustang. Been working mostly on the front steering. My 1st step was to make my spindles and springs. I used 3/32 alum tube for the spindles and some small wire for the springs. As you will see it took a few tries to get the look I wanted. Then I tried to come up with some sort of rack and pinion type of tie rod. This is my best idea to this point, it could change..... Again I used a piece of 3/32 alum tube and ran some small flexible wire thru it. The wire has a solid core so I bent a 90 on the end and drilled a hole in my spindle steering arm to match the wire. So far so good, I'll let you know when I get a little further along. As you can tell from the pictures I have not made a lot of progress on the Ross Gibson. The yellow wires that you see off to the right of the chassis in a couple pics are the beginnings of the plug wires. After I get this front suspension finished I would like to get that motor done and installed. Then I can finish up with the supports for the bay bars (the cage around the motor). I'll try to keep this moving along... Maybe cut out the trunk lid and add some detail to the rear. Plumb the fuel cell and nitrous tanks. Still haven't decided on a scoop for the hood or a paint scheme for the body. Thanks for looking
  19. Thanks Caine, bought some MM Jet Exhaust today. Painted up a couple sets of carbs, waiting for them to dry but they look pretty good already Thanks a ton for this tip.
  20. Thanks for all the tips. bought some wire to go into the plastic rod. this worked out great. Have not tried soldering the brass rod yet. I think I made my 1/25 cage with 3/32 rod, am now thinking I should have gone smaller. Live and learn.... Thanks again everyone
  21. I see some of you here that have some pretty realistic Holley Carbs. Was wondering if anyone could give me some guidance in finding the color to paint these. I have looked through the local hobby shops colors and everything they had at Hobby Lobby but didn't see anything that would make them look authentic. Assuming it is a mixture of something with something. I am talking about the grayish, weathered brass looking color of a real Holley. Appreciate any help. Thank you,
  22. Where did you go 3men2s? Did the stang get shelved for a lil bit?? I keep checking, you are my inspiration. Hope all is well in your little corner of the world.
  23. It's all Ford thru and thru promodmerc. Just like the builder... The reason I changed the scoop was the other did not fit up with the windshield. I'm kinda picky... I have another too, I keep switching back and forth. Thanks for the nice comments guys. But I really am a rookie. The Blue Corvette you see in the backround was my first build in at least 30 years. Built those in commemoration of a friend of mine that died last year. Working on the Gibson, and steerable front susp now. Slow going this week, work is killing me... Trying to keep those Fords in the winners circle. More to come soon.
  24. Here a few pictures of the progress for the Mustang. Thanks to all for the great tips for how to bend the styrene for the cage. Added the seat and some belts from Modeling by Chris. The Ross Gibson Engine is progressing slowly. Really like the detail of this piece but being the amateur that I am it is a difficult build. No worry though, I don't give up easily and will prevail. Thinking I probably should have purchased the body from Reliable. But it might turn out ok. Maybe the next one I will go the extra mile and use the good parts. Rick
  25. In Don's defense, I have been in contact with him and he has been in contact with me. Like any small business he is probably caught in the dreaded zone of staying a one-man-band or taking on help. In today's economy it is prolly best to stay small and wait it out. I appreciate Reliable for staying in business and providing his service. Hoping to purchase some of Don's items in the near future. My opinion, Thanks, Rick
