  1. Mark, Great looking build of an attractive DAF design. I have both the "Leyland Power Truck" and "Master Truck" kits in the build stack; your build is inspirational. Scott
  2. George, I really like what-if schemes! Your UP Pete looks spectacular! Scott
  3. Many thanks for the info, Mike! Luckily, I have a set of AMT/ERTL tires; I have been reluctant to buy the RoG Peterbilt 359 et al because I dislike the tires so much. Scott
  4. I tried the search function and google, but could not find an answer to this: I think the tires in the Revell Germany Peterbilt 359 (and 353) are lame. What are my options for replacement tires? Which tires from which kits and kit manufacturers fit the RoG Peterbilt wheels? Many Thanks, Scott
  5. First, Paul, thank you for the two photos of T&T trucks. If I am correct, this is a first generation 385; it inspires me to try a 377 with the T&T livery (I've destroyed two 377 hoods trying to make a 385 hood). Last, thank you, all, for your thoughtful suggestions, comments, and encouragement My Best, Scott
  6. Ulf, Very nice! Your Volvo F12 does it for me, followed closely by the Scania Topline. I am working on an Italeri Actros LH MP2 tractor plus a "matching" fuel tank trailer. Euro trucks are pretty cool! Cheers, Scott
  7. Thank you, Chuck! Yes, I agree that "stripping the factory chrome and replacing it with more realistic paint make a model look more authentic". Scott
  8. First, thank you James, Ben, Gordon, and Tim. Your compliments are much appreciated! Actually, Tim, I don't have a clue. I got the inspiration from several pictures of this 388 on your website, Tims Trucks!
  9. Thanks, Mark! I'm just glad the pics are not HD! The Dupli-Color Chrome works well and gives, IMHO, a more realistic representation of chrome in 1/24th scale. It takes a lot of work to remove the chrome and clear coating from the chromed parts. And well-cured Dupli-Color Chrome tolerates a little bit of handling with bare fingers; the heat from your fingers is enough to finger print the surface and it certainly does not tolerate the punishment I gave it trying to fit the cab and hood. When I do another one of these I think I will shoot the parts with Dupli-Color Aluminum (the engine plumbing in the pics is Aluminum...). Last, there is a definite issue between the aft side of the radiator shroud/fan and the front of the pulleys and belts on the front of the engine. I trimmed a lot of material from that interface and I still had to move the cab forward 1/32 inch.
  10. You are correct, not much. Perhaps I will. It was time to "Step away from the truck, sir, step away!" Scott
  11. I thought I saw your user name on that forum. I've thought about joining, but I don't speak German (gees, I don't speak any foreign language. That's pretty arrogant of me ). Any thoughts on that topic? Scott
  12. Fellow Addicts, Some of you may know about this German modeling forum. For those of you who don't, click here and enjoy. The link takes you directly to Trucks and Trailers. You can use Google Toolbar to translate German to your native language. Check out this Peterbilt 378 Day Cab and this Peterbilt 378 Long Hauler! Check out the Euro trucks as well. This site is just packed with eye candy! Cheers, Scott
  13. I've been watching this 388 come together on www.timstrucks.com. Awesome and beautiful day cab. I tip my hat in your general direction! Scott
  14. Jared, I know Tim will jump in here with the definitive answer, likely as I enter this reply! I think I remember reading that Jamie at Mo'luminum offers a resin C15. Here's a link to Tim's website; it appears you need to contact Jamie at jlrahmo@aol.com. May I make a suggestion? Unless you're building for a contest or other event that requires that accuracy, how about spraying that Detroit Diesel with CAT yellow paint, like I did with my Pete 377? Krylon sells it for about $6 US, plus you don't have to concern youself with custom fabrication of the induction, exhaust, and cooling systems. Welcome to the forum! Scott
  15. Ben, anyone ever told you, "You ain't right"? Too, funny! Scott
  16. Guys, Thanks, again, for your compliments, encouragement, and ideas! I very much appreciate it! My Best, Scott
  17. Thanks, everybody, for your kind words! As for the trailer, I was definitely envisioning a tanker or flatbed behind her, so we are on the same frequency! Cheers, Scott
  18. Greetings, Tim! I was just too lazy to remove the spine. You may remember that I used the top of the 377 hood for the 378 to 379-119 conversion. To me, the Italeri 377 actually looks a whole lot better with the top of the Italeri 378 hood because the 378 hood has the subtle curve like the real truck. I trust you'll be in my neighborhood next weekend for the MATS?
  19. Inspiring, Tim! Wish I wasn't traveling on business so much! Scott
