  1. Just an announcement that the Last Detail Decal decals are on the EmodelCars auction site. James
  2. Here is my completed Tamiya Mercedes SLR. I used the Crazy Modeler photoetched set, Scale Motorsport Carbon Fiber decals, and Cobra Colors Crystal Galaxite Black pearl paint. The clear coat is Urathane 2 part Clear. I have some fitting issues with getting the hood to close correctly so it will be displayed with the hood up. Also the doors are a PITA to prop open! Enough blabbing, here are the pictures. Constructive Criticism is always encouraged. Keep the negative to yourself...LOL James
  3. The car is looking good. Let me know if you need any ref pix to finish it. James
  4. Here are some pictures of my current project. It is Tamiya's Porsche 959. I painted the body with Cobra Colors Carmon Red Metallic and used a PPG urathane clearcoat. It is hard to tell from the pictures, but it is a dark wine red metallic. The interior is painted with four colors on the seats (flat white, german grey, custom mixed grey, and hull red). The rest of the interior is hull red and black. I am going to build this kit box stock without any aftermarket stuff on it (that is a daring feat for me). Constructive comments are always welcome, James
  5. This is the Revell of Germany Ferrari F430 Spyder kit. I painted the body with Cobra Colors Grigio Titanio lacquer and clear coated it with PPG Urathane. I used the Crazy Modeler P/E kit for the 430 hardtop on this car. This car will be at the Toledo NNL Nationals next week. Comments are always welcome. James
  6. That turned out really nice. I have yet to build one of those kits. My plan is to use the 68 body (no vinyl top) for a 69 and convert one of the 69's into a 68. Who knows what color I will paint them though... James
  7. Here is a better picture of the interior (before it was put into the body).
  8. This is Revell Monogram's 1967 Dodge Coronet kit. I painted it with Cobra Colors Mystic Teal Pearl (it is in their fire pearl line whereas you paint over a black base coat) with a PPG Urathane clear coat. The decals are from The Last Detail and the photoetched is from Model Car Garage. I had a lot of fun building this one but I had some problems getting the hood to fit right with the photoetched grille and the front end ended up a little too high in the air for my liking... When I finally get around to building a 67 GTX, I will keep those two points in mind. I will be bringing this one to NNL in Toledo along with my Ferrari F430 Spyder that I am putting the final touches on. On to the pix... Comments are always welcome, James
  9. I decided to take a few pictures of the progress that I have made before I wrap up this project. I used the Crazy Modeler brakes with some parts box wheel adapters and brake shoes. The wheels will glue to the center hubs. The rear windscreen was scratch built with some mesh I had laying around and some clear acetate for the window. Some Pegasus rims donated their sleeves to dress up the stock rims. I also swapped out the front tires for the larger/wider Pegasus tires.
  10. I got some time to do a little more work on the Ferrari. Here is the finished engine. I used several different shades of metallizers to shade the metallic finishes and the Crazy modeler photoetched parts to add a little style to the basically box stock engine. Next up is the front suspension, paint and attach the photoetched grilles and then final assembly... James
  11. This is the Revell of Germany Ferrari F430 Spyder kit. I painted the body with Cobra Colors Grigio Titanio lacquer and cleared it with PPG Urathane clear. Here is the finished interior. I used Tamiya Acrylic flat red and worked it over with some finger oil to give it a little bit of sheen. The carbon fiber decals are from Scale Motorsport and the photoetched stuff is from Crazy Modeler.
