Geez, I need to get more kits, I am behind you guys. I only have 52 truck kits, over 30 trailers and two drawers full of aftermarket resin cabs and parts. Oh, and not counting the car kits I have

To be fair...trucks and trailers take up a lot of room!

  2. Wick,

I found this stuff in my parts stash. If you're interested send me a PM.

The inner column is glued into the wheel hub that is separated from the rim so might require some surgery to extract it. Or you could re-glue the rim potentially.

If you have a photo of the finned valve cover and the Stromberg, there is a possibility I might have something.

  3. This question comes up occasionally. (Not if you are insane but how many kits is too many) If you have room, can afford it, don't feel pressure from having "too much stuff", and your significant other does not object then you can't have too many.

How many do you need? N+1

    You only live once.

Very cool! I love these and I have a few of the various old Harley 1/8 kits. On this particular one mine is mint with loose parts excepting a broken frame half. I was able to find a California Highway Patrol parts kit and swapped in a part from that. Black rather than red plastic, but who'll know when it's painted?

I passed my driving test in 1966 and my mother had bought one of the first Mini Countryman cars with the wood side embellishments. My first job was to get it up on ramps and bolt in the lap and diagonal  seat belts through the floor where the nuts had already been welded in at the Morris Cars factory. These made us feels so much safer!

I love those little cars but I would never drive one, physics being what they are. That being said, all the seat belts in our cars growing up were mashed between the seat cushions with the spilled food and gum. You didn't put your hand in there if you knew what was good for you!

  6. I really like this model. Very realistic. Is the tilt plate for gas filler access a part of the kit or did you add that? A really nice detail either way. I have a couple of these in my stash I bought years ago. Will have to take a closer look!

Plus I bought that car for $150

In about 1980 I wrecked my 69 Grand Prix. I ended up buying a 1962  Falcon 2 door post car from a friend for $100. Had to tow it home because it had a window in the side of the block you could see daylight through. We stripped the motor in my rental driveway and my friend and I lifted the bad block out by hand with no hoist. Set the new block in the same way. Maybe that's why my back hurts all the time now...

If you look at the rocker area of the '59 it is rather square, the nice thing is the mold is thick enough to sand some decent "roundness" to them. Do a lot of test fitting on the bumper/grill/valance before painting. Engine is subpar to say the least, but it is a pretty old tool. Just some FYI's

The '55 is a very nice kit in my opinion.

Thanks for your advice and insight on these. I really am warming up to both of them. Not being a purist I won’t mind swapping in something better in the motor department.
