would it be more realistic if I setup the 4 bars like that?
-
No, I used only one + plastic card to fill the gaps Edit: I cut the roof following the green markings and widened it following the pink ones then filled the gaps with plastic cards

thanks but I read: "Closed for spring cleaning!" and... we're close the Xmass so I wonder if this shop is still running... I've reshaped the front parts of the rails and changed the front axle I think this one will do the job Global stance Small details Lots of work to do but I'll take my time... Any comments or advices always welcome here ! Tech sheet: - red parts: Ford 40 pickup Monogram - blue patrs: Ford 50 pickup Monogram - chrome parts + seats: Chevy Nomad gasser AMT - white parts: Evergreen plastic card - body, firewall, dashboard: Ford 32 Revell - tires and rims: www.thepartbox.com - engine: no idea and by the way, sorry, yes, the wheelwells are already glued but so far, at this step of the build I haven't found any problem (yet) working with them like that. Sorry too if my English is not 100% correct, I'm French speaking

I decided to change the rear axle and use a spare one alors coming from my chest Here is a mockup of the frame inside the body Maybe I'll create a rear roll-on but I like this view and don't wan't to hide everything
-
Thanks for the comments guys. Here is another small update for today After I found the seats, I roughly scratchbuilt a new floor and tunnel to see how it could look inside the channeled body not bad isn't it?

Since it's been a while I haven't posted anything (too much work) I wanted to try building something fun and unconstrained So here is my new project based on the well known Revell's Ford 32 I'll use the 32 body + firewall and the optional dashboard but my goal is try to use as many spare parts as possible from my treasure chest to replace those from the original kit First I started by the topchop I think it's clean cut and it won't leave big scares I opened the roof and used plastic rod to smooth the edges. I'll use thin wood planks to create a nice openwork sunroof Also used plastic rod to add more details to the wheelwells and drilled them Then I took a deep breath and started to dig inside my chest. That was worth the effort as I found a Ford 40' pickup frame that I sawed here and there to make the rails fit inside the Deuce. You already guessed channeling was not an option, right? I chopped a spare radiator and cut the bottom of the firewall to clear space for the transmission. Damned where does this engine came from? My guess is Chevy Impala lowrider - but I'm not sure Wheels with white walls were ordered a long time ago from www.thepartsbox.com (by the way, is this website still running?) Her's the general stance next steps: - Find a decent dropped I-beam because the one used for the mockup (Ford 40' pickup) is too "rough" for me - Rework the frame to connect the rear axle - Build a new floor - Find nice seats

wow Man ! One of the 5 most incredible and "one of a kind" project i've seen for 2011 I bet this would be a killer -
Hi Guys some pics of my WIP 99,99% complete my problem is that I just can't make my own white decals on transparent background so I've made a mockup with Photoshop to show you what I had in mind. In fact I've built the truck like a speedshop thuck but not exactly as this one is "barber shop" truck dedicated to Mr Ducktail For those who have never heard of Mr Ducktail, he's a French barber (now established in London) He became famous in the r'n'r scene as one on the best barber using flick knife to cut hairs Here's the guy: and here's my work:

Hi Tony, as said, it's just a mockup. I'll build this model curbside (no engine) so I'll glue the hood and it will fit on the fenders. But for someone who would build the complete model, my point is this fitting issue may be cause by the way the floor of the cab connects with the firewall, I'll take a picture to explain what I mean.

Here's a little project I had in mind for months: a Ford 50 pick up I'd like to build nearly stock with most of the chromes, stock rims and caps, ... - I've just shaved the big FORD lettering in front of the hood and the F1 logo on both sides - dropped the truck to the ground - added the wood stacking sides (from a Ford 40 pick up) - added Appleton's spotlights from my part box These pics were taken today as I did a last mockup to validate the general stance I already have in mind the colors I'll use for this baby but I won't tell you much for the moment
-
hi Guys ! Here a small project I'd like to share it with you This chevy was basic built with a little mildcustom touch no particular body modifications except for : - a smooth shaving (door handles and logos) - removal of the B pillar to create a hardtop - fat white walls + Sombrero caps (Modelhaus) NOTE : when I took the pictures, the glue in optics was not dry what explains the offwhite effect that you will not fail to notice regards, Denis

thanks for the comments guys !

I think I'm done here I had some problems with the clear coat but the main job is done and I like it

I'd like to feed you with new photographs but I spent the last 3 evenings to catch up with some S##T after a strange reaction between white Tamiya Primer and the white Tamiya putty (first time that happen). Plastic was not touched too much. The putty was dry for several days but it has softened whereas it was already covered with a first shot of primer. I can't explain the reaction but had to start again at the sanding and filling step Here thus nothing to say moreover and nothing to show at this stage…
-
small update here after hours sanding, filling, sanding and fine-tuning here is a new mock-up of the baby I still don't know what to do with the bumpers: no bumpers, stock version or maybe... comments more than welcome here !
-
tht's just terrrrrific I like it

after a mockup - I dropped the top chop idea - On the other hand I wanted absolutely to try a sectionning (never den that before) thus it is by there that I attacked in-depth the Pick-up and cut in his metal flesh. - new mockup to see the new lines - I just don't know if I work on the size of the bed or leave it stock - I removed some louvers - I reworked the general lines of the grilles too - some light primer here to see the global result - lots of sanding to be done but it is not dramatic
-
Well, it's been a very looooong time since I haven't posted anything here After more than one year of inactivity I will start again carefully… or not… Here the small personal challenge that I launch out The base is the well-known red Ford 40 from Monogram Here is the program : - dropping the truck (well at least it should be done - using Boyd Coddington rims with low profile tires (from AMT Chevy Nomad). but is this enough? NO ! - small sectionning of the cabin and hood to lower the general lines - shortening the bed ? - and maybe a top chop - frenched headlights - barrel cover - etc. I made some assemblies using photoshop to make me an idea Excuse my English, I use an automatic translator because I lack practice

after waiting a long time for the oil paint to dry I had some bad surprise when I removed the masking tape Any help with make the light on that for me to fix that?
-
the off white is Tamiya TS-7 the metalic brown is Motip 51800 (close to rootbeer indeed)

The Woody started a few days ago is not ready yet (and won't be before 31st) The oil painting of the wood parts is not dry enough. So I decided to let it dry as long as needed and I started to build a new baby Of course the kit is well known as the AMT 64 Impala SS the complete WIP album is here: http://public.fotki.com/qmhd/impala-64-wip/ Built straight from the box No modifications except for the rake which is lowered (much more than the custom position proposed in the kit) I'v painted the white walls on the Firestones Everything else is from the Box Lot's of BMF here This was my first kit using so much... Not very easy for me guys I need to glue the hood (as I don't plan to work on the engine here) Lors of work planned to paint the seats (but not done yet) hope you'll enjoy or at least leave some comments (always welcome) Regards, Denis
