  1. Sorry Romell. I sold that one around this time last year. I wanted the auction to be as clear as possible on eBay, so I shot that video and posted it there so they could see exactly what they were bidding on. IIRC, it was sold to a fellow in Great Britain and I gotta tell ya, he paid a PRETTY PENNY for it! The bidding was furious right down to the last second and I got a LOT more than what I originally paid for it from Danbury Mint. There was no reserve on it BTW............ I also have Danbury's 1/12 '57 Chevy and '64½ Mustang Convertible. The Chevy turns up quite often on eBay. not so much the Mustang, so if I ever want to sell that one, I can expect a frenzy of bidders!
  2. I figured out the video embedding thing by doing this............ [ media ] your video URL [ /media ] Of course there's no spaces when doing this..............works like a charm!
  3. Bill you can use the embossing powder pretty much the same way as you use flocking. What I do first is get a water based acrylic paint that is close to the color of the flocking-------in this case black! I then do one square at a time, as opposed to doing the entire interior floor at once. I paint a square, then I'll sprinkle the embossing powder on, pat it very lightly----------then when that section is dry, I'll blow off (or tap off) any excess. I just keep doing this until I'm done. Like flocking, any bare spots I'll go back over until it appears to my satisfaction. At the beginning of this thread, there's a pic that shows the carpeting done with this brand embossing powder. Hope this helps!
  4. Well as they say, "old habits die hard"! I was used to typing everything in as I knew the coding of what to get for font types, colors, HTML tags, etc. Yeah, as I play around more with the settings in the text box, it'll get easier as time goes on. The old format with HTML for posting was not as user friendly on my end as it is now. Now if we can just get the video embedding back here.............unless I'm missing something there too!
  5. Hmmm........I got it now! I still like the other way a bit better though. My '64 Olds Fotki Album Edit: Thanks Mike! I can go back to using my own words again!
  6. Thanks Bud! In regards to the embossing powder, here's a pic of the type I use................. It comes in a wide array of colors, and I got mine at our local Michaels. I find it a bit better than using flocking as some brands of flocking are just a bit too heavy handed for my tastes. Thanks for asking!
  7. True, but I like my own words better!
  8. Hmmm........I was playing around with some HTML code in the text box............for example "a href=" and it doesn't seem to work here. Even with the HTML formatting turned off.................No dice. I suppose Gregg had that feature disabled for some reason?? Gregg!!
  9. I was wondering the same thing when I was making a new post on my '64 Olds. It's a neat feature as it can tidy up your post a bit with just a few words, than a long drawn out URL. (eBay's are the WORST!)
  10. Well...............almost! I had to completely strip the hood as I made a mess of it earlier. I'm going to have to reapply the BMF to the letters and do it again. The acrylic did hold up under the automotive paint. Pretty much like what Future can do to make for a good barrier on bare plastic against the hotter paints. One thing I did notice is that I'll have to completely block sand the hood again. I don't know if the Plastikote primer had some kind of reaction with the resin or what------but I notice some interesting "ripples" in parts of the hood that certainly weren't there before I painted. BTW, that color is called "Jade Green Metallic". I had it mixed at our local automotive paint jobber. Metallics with a digicam don't photograph as well, as the flakes to me look "jumbled" and not as even as they appear in actuality.
  11. And here's the dark metallic green that it's painted in.................. My only gripe with the paint is that IMO, the metallic flakes are a bit too big for my tastes. But, I'll live with it as is since this will be mostly a shelf model when done, and it's not going to be a show goer. Next, I'll clearcoat the green with Tamiya water based clear, and then rub out and wax per normal. Then it's on to BMFing the chrome, getting the windows in, bumpers, etc, and perhaps soon call 'er done! Comments welcome!
  12. I'm off this weekend for the holiday, so I figure I need to carve out some time and finally get this car primered and color coated! Well, here's the results so far...........I got a boo-boo on the hood that I'm not happy with, so it's soaking in Easy Off Oven Cleaner, and then I'll repaint that hopefully later today. In a couple pics you'll see, I was able to salvage the scripts by foiling them before any paint. Whether or not I'll be able to get them to show after the color coats will remain to be seen. Here's how she looks so far.....................enjoy! More to come!............
  13. Unfortunately, even Mercedes is starting to abandon pillarless styling. Witness the newest 2012 C class coupe-----it now has a B pillar. No doubt in anticipation for some new "rollover" standards that our safety Nazis are about to impose on the auto industry. You can bet the next gen S class large coupe will probably have a B pillar as well.
  14. Throw in whatever our dollar is worth at any given moment, and that can change the price-------up or down. Right now the value of our dollar on the world market is at an all time low..........one can only expect the price of a barrel of oil to go up, up, up! Printing money only exacerbates the problem.
  15. That is lookin' really, really SHARP!! Looks just the way Toyota would have did it in '83!
  16. Ugggh! The FWD Cougar is one car I just don't like! To me it looks like a woman's shoe going down the road! For those of you that have them, more power to you.......but to my eyes nothing screamed "chick car" louder than that last Cougar! Now the second gen Probe I liked a lot! Especially the V6 GT's........too bad Ford killed it so soon.
  17. You and I had similar childhoods Chuck, as that's when I got a bunch of Hot Wheels also! Actually, I got them a bit earlier than Christmas of that year........... I believe I got my first one sometime around late spring early summer that year. In fact, IIRC it was an antifreeze Camaro. I started collecting again sometime around '95-'96, but mostly the ones I didn't get as kid..............probably somewhere around 100 or so.
  18. As someone who once owned a wide variety of cars, including Muscle Cars------I'll take "zippy" and "great handling" over all out straight line performance these days. I like an old car as much as the next enthusiast, but the reality of today's drivers, driving and traffic conditions, crime, etc-------make owning an old car like that for me not much fun. It would be a car I would take out on a nice day only..........and even then maybe just on a Sunday where the knucklehead drivers are at a minimum. Not to mention, if I were ever to have a classic car again, it MUST be in a garage! Since I have no garage, and since the kind of house I live in has no provisions to build one, I'll just be satisfied with my tried and true Saturn Ion. Say what you will about Saturns and their ilk---------but it starts every time, has given me practically ZERO trouble, and despite the fact that GM discontinued the make, mechanical parts are as near as the latest Chevy Cobalt!
  19. Bob, if words are misspelled, they are in red underscore. I'm using Firefox 6.0 and that's how it shows up on my end if something is spelled wrong. Right click on the red underscored word and the correct one will show up (several perhaps). Now one has to KNOW the correct usage to still pick the right word!
  20. I wonder if the '57 Ford will be the VIctoria, or the Custom 300 sedan? Like Ed said, I'll believe it when I see it!
  21. Tell me about it! While I love the look of the suicide doors, I wonder from time to time just how safe my car would be in a side impact! Of course, I never want to find out the hard way! Yes, I do like the rear side doors as I'm always putting something in the back seat. I generally don't like a regular four door car as the front doors are always too short for me--------and I'm a tall guy, so I like/need to have the seat as far back as possible. Four doors with their B pillars always block my peripheral vision...........one driving dynamic I DON'T like!
  22. Thanks much for the compliments so far guys! I haven't given up on it--------had some problems with my airbrush (Crescendo), but I do have the body in primer now and hopefully, I'll get the rest color coated this week.
  23. Because you didn't have the Safety Nazis back then dictating what a car should and shouldn't have-------instead of letting the market dictate.
  24. Very Nice!! I like the color-----is that Midnight Blue? It looks a lot like the color I painted my '64 GTO years ago.
  25. This is one mighty nice Impala! The styling always reminded my of a wingless jet especially with that bubble roof-------in fact the whole '61 GM lineup save for Cadillac had the appearance of wingless jets!
