WOW!! I still haven't drooled over my Hot Rod issue yet, but that video make me drool enough!! Two "Buzzin Dozen" Detroits connected together have a way of making a trucker excited!! So, what truck will I find to drop one of those into!! -

Bob, if, and I say IF, you can find an old built up of the AMT Kenworth race trucks (and for the life of me I can't remember the names right now ) somewhere that someone isn't asking arms and legs for, they both have Buzzin Dozens in them. It has to be the race trucks though, not the "Papa Truck" or "Hideout Truck" transporters for the race trucks, those transporters have the V8 just like the ALF or other AMT truck kits. -

More like Hulk smash sleeper!!! When I started the sleeper conversion on my STILL ongoing (and STILL stalled ) custom truck, it looked like this. After it made me say things that would make not only sailors but truckers as well blush , it looked like this. It took me a month to rework it, but actually in the end I was happy I threw it across the room, it came out better the second time around!! -

Glenn, that is just so beautiful and touching, and even though it made me cry the first time I read it, it also helped more than you could ever imagine. Thank you so very much for sharing that! -

Thank you Don, and you are very correct, Shasta was a Mainecoon. And yes, she was very vocal, and also very smart! She could open anything from treat jars to bags, and even once or twice a box of cat food in the cereal box type box. We were also thinking of having her cremated, but unfortunately everything else going on at this time made that impossible. We still have plenty of pics around, though. -

Thank you everyone for the kind words and wishes, even though I haven't felt like posting again until now, I have been lurking and reading my email notifications. It's been a week today since we lost our baby Hairball, and there have been a few tough moments for both my fiancee and me, but we are slowly getting somewhat back to normal. Even with our three younger kids in the house, the house just seems empty without Hairball in it, from not having her begging for a bite of whatever we were eating to not feeling her jumping on and off the bed during the night, or just having her walk over and have her say "Pick me up and hold me" the way she did by rubbing our leg with her front paws until one of us would pick her up. I spent some time to looking through our old pics and found that helped too, remembering the better times. Here are a few of my favorites. She always loved her treats, and didn't even need Mommy or Daddy to open them! Taking a nap with her little sister Libby. Laying on the back of the couch with her little brother Garfield. And finally, enjoying Daddy's other hobby. -
I just wanted to let everyone know here that I may not be around much for a little while, my fiancee and I lost our cat yesterday and I'm just not in much of a model mood and may not be for a while, just in case any of you missed this post. http://www.modelcarsmag.com/forums/index.php?showtopic=45921 That does not mean that the build will not continue, it will and everyone keep on truckin! I just have to get over the loss of our precious baby girl first.

I just wanted to let everyone know I may not be very active around here for a while, my fiancee and I had a death in the family yesterday. We lost our beloved cat Shasta, who we also called Hairball, yesterday. She was 14 years old, and a part of my life for the past 10 years. That, one top of many other problems we are having at the moment, has devistated both of us, and I just feel that being there for my fiancee is most important right now, plus the fact that I'm also taking our baby's death very hard. She was more than just a cat to us, she was our little baby girl and we treated her more like a daughter than a pet. Rest in peace baby, your Mommy and Daddy will always love you and miss you! -

GRRRRRRRRRRRRRRR!!! -
What do the Germans have to do with this thread!?!?! Ok, on the serious side now, I think that would be a nice idea for the model companies to do Skip, but I think it may also lead to more flaws that I didn't happen to see mentioned yet, untreated chrome attachment points. I know I have seen more than a few models posted here that look beautiful in the pics, but then you see where the bumper was cut from the sprue and never cleaned up! I'm not saying I'm perfect at this, I forget it sometimes myself, but it doesn't take that long to take a small sanding stick and clean the area up as carefully as possible without ruining the whole piece and either hide the area with a small piece of BMF or even a little spot of silver paint. One other issue I see a lot, and admittedly am also guilty of sometimes, regarding chrome on tractor trailer builds are the separation lines on the two piece fuel tanks. I, more than anyone, love all the shiny bits on my trucks, but you just don't see 1:1 trucks with big cracks running all the way around the fuel tanks, and even more rarely are the tanks chromed. The chrome looks nice, but take a few extra minutes to sand the seam away, and if you want the tanks to look polished with a chromelike shine, use some Alclad polished aluminum or chrome, or even some BMF. If it's going to be a more fleet style truck or even a show truck with very light weathering, DupliColor Chrome (not the Bumper Chrome) paint even does a nice job! I painted these fenders with DupliColor Chrome, and it looks very much like a polished aluminum that has been through a rainstorm.

Highly Detailed GENERAL LEE.... finally done...!1yr and 6 days
highway replied to mopar01lee's topic in WIP: Model Cars
If I remember correctly, you can also find the Michelin TRX tires in the older VW Beetle kits, and I know they were the standard tire in all the trailer kits from Revell/Monogram. I have the boat trailers from the Revell sets like the "Gone Fishing" Ramcharger and Bass Boat combo and also the Chevy Van and race car trailer combo, and both trailers have the TRXs in them. I'm not really sure without digging it out, but I think maybe even the Galaxy trailers have this, or at least very similar, tire in them. Oh, by the way Davin, that paint job is turning out nicely! -
Clearing over aftermarket decals
highway replied to mopar01lee's topic in General Automotive Talk (Trucks and Cars)
This is probably a long shot Davin, but is there any spare decals on the sheet like a spare license plate that you won't use?? If there might be a spare or extra, try using the clear on a spare body over the decal and see if there are any problems. Sorry I can't offer any better advise. -

Josh, I don't know if this will be any help or not, but here is how I'm mounting my RF1 fenders from Eric to my Ford LTL9000 project. I took a small piece of aluminum tubing and drilled a hole into the frame rail, then super glued the tubing into the hole. Then I took a little larger diameter piece of tubing, just large enough for the tubing glued to the frame to slide into. The next step is going to be to super glue the larger tube to the inside of the fender, and that will not only mount the fender, but allow for removal of them as well. I would also suggest since you are using the RF2 double humps, make sure you mock everything up before you mount them to see where your mounts will be on the frame. Here's how this idea turned out for mine. One other suggestion, and something I haven't done yet on mine, you may want to grind a small channel just deep enough for the outer tubing to sit in on the inside of the fender, but not deep enough to go through the fender. That will lower the fender to the wheels if they are sitting a little high like mine are. -
I can't help it, I'm just lazy!!! At least I did get the engine of mine half build, last summer!

Yeah Bill, it was like you were in my mind, that was my idea that went out the window when Hugh said the channel was not as wide as the rub strip. I don't know about you Hugh, but I say we go to the junkyard and see if we can get the kit bumper for our 1:1s, it would save us a lot of bloody hassle!!! -
Does this answer your question Rich!?!?
