Anyone have a spare million laying around?
highway replied to ra7c7er's topic in General Automotive Talk (Trucks and Cars)
The first one I have no interest in at ANY price, but the second one I kinda like, since I've always had a soft spot in my heart for the Brat/El Camino/Ranchero types. Heck, I even liked the Omni somethingerother that Chrysler made in the early 80s as competition to the Brat. Now would I be "nice" and spend $5000 on that kit like that idiot is hoping so HE can buy HIM a house? NO!! I might help him out and be "Nice" and give him $25 for it, then he's $25 closer to moving out of the in-laws, he'd only have $4,975 left to save! By the way, I don't see the problem with living with the in-laws anyway. I spent almost 3 years living with my future in-laws before moving out with the better half, and all the time and more over diesel fuel I've spent going back up there to help Mom with her computer "emergencies", it would have been much cheaper just to stay there!! -

No Tim, the black round thing is part of the Vorad radar system used for accident avoidance and also with the cruise control. My friend that drove for them had a love/hate relationship with his, he loved the side looking aray in the passenger bind spots but he hated the front when he'd have the cruise on and it would decide to turn the cruise off! By the way, that just reminded me, did you put the one on the front bumper, too?? -
Yeah, even the link to the Liberty site Dave posted (by the way, great link Dave!) said that they made an emergency landing and even had a pic of it sitting in perfect shape in the field, well except for the fire on the engine. Here's the pic from the Liberty Foundation site.

I don't have them all uploaded to my photobucket, but I have more of the interior and detail pics too. I'm planning on using the Monogram 1/48 scale kit to replicate her, and if anyone wants them, send me a PM and I'll email them to you.

This is sad to hear, they are such wonderful aircraft and such a large part of WWII history. My fiancee and I also had the wonderful opportunity to see "Sentimental Journey" when she flew into the Wheeling Ohio County Airport, which is our small town airport, when she was booked for flyovers of the opening of the high school football season last year. There is nothing like the thrill of being able to get so close to a piece of living history!

How Many Hours Per Week Do You Spend Modeling?
highway replied to XJ6's topic in General Automotive Talk (Trucks and Cars)
Lately for me it's been 0, the big gooseegg, nada, none! When I do sit at the bench, I would say a typical week might be 10 hours, and there has been some rare occasions I've spent that much time there in one day. -

Looking nice Dennis! I think I may have hit the gray hose with some blue paint, but the hoses look great! I wish mine would stay that nicely coiled! -
Bruce what kit is that engine from?? The valve covers almost look like they could pass for the valve covers on my 1:1 Ford diesel that I'm working (slowly ) on!
-
Nice job! I love that color, I might have to try the future on my big rig I have that color when I get that far!
-
It wasn't in my 1:1 big truck, I don't have one of those anymore!! It was in this: The little bugger just didn't want to make my life easy, and it would have helped if I had more than Jeremy Clarkson's favorite tool to change it! Oh, and just for those that may not watch the British "Top Gear" like me, Jeremy Clarkson's favorite tool is a hammer!
-
Nice progress Niko and Gordon! Since after three days of fighting a u-joint out of the driveshaft of my 1:1 is FINALLY over, maybe I can get a little time to get back to the bench!

Beautiful as always Tim. I forgot to ask you when I asked about the decals before, how do I get in touch with Doug about those decals or does he have a site you could link me to? -
That just proves my point of what I always say, I could do a better job myself so I'm not buying your "Pro Built" junk!!
-
Well uh, I uh, really uh, uh, uh, don't uh, know what to say other than there is no U in Peterbilt!! Alright, on the serious side, I definately want to see where this goes!! I like the wheels and the mods. Are you going to paint the cab the same root beer color the frame is painted?
-
I'm not usually crazy about green paint jobs, but this one is great and suits the car very well. Beautiful job Adam! By the way, what paint did you use on the back half?
-
So that is what the flashing blue light I seen in the windshield of one of the Corvettes is for? I thought maybe it was an undercover cop car!!!
-
Don't you mean "Comfy"?
-
What did I get today? I got a u joint for my 1:1 and a bad u joint that won't come out of the blankety blank driveshaft!!! Oh, and a headache from all the pounding!!

highway replied to Lownslow's topic in General Automotive Talk (Trucks and Cars)
Got an engine? Check. Got a drivetrain? Check. Got tires, or something closely resembling tires at some time in their life? Check. Got a steering wheel? Check. Got a seat? Check. You have just passed an Ohio state inspection, and since they DON'T have required state inspections, you pass anyway!! -
That color looks great on there, Bruce!
