55 CHEVY QUESTION
bang bang replied to chris coller's topic in General Automotive Talk (Trucks and Cars)
I have tried to buy the Revell Bel Air Hardtop kit #85-2069 from one or two model suppliers ( because It looks like a sweet kit to build) but man the shipping is out there. The kit price is 24.95 & the shipping is over nine bucks. I know that I'm going to buy but they should supply a little Vaseline I think. -
Man I live 2.5 hours from Jax,FL & totally forgot about it. Rats!!!! Thanks for the pics

Flocking powder on sale Joanns
bang bang replied to shatteredsoul76's topic in General Automotive Talk (Trucks and Cars)
I have tried the ken"s flocking & others but it comes out fair on one kit & patchy on other. I apply the white glue & level it then strain the flocking let it set for eight hours(overnight)turn it over ( not shake)& parts of it just falls off. Now I have seen awesome results @ model shows so I know that I,m doing something wrong. So I think that I will give the embossing powder a shot & see what happens. -
I know scribing truck lines sounds simple but how did you keep the lines so perfectly straight And the corners so precise? Looks awesome.

Thanks I will surely try this one tip. I was about to order some white walls tires for future projects. Thanks for sharing.

Ditto You should make copies & send them to all of your bros here on this forum -
Beautiful color I love the many different choices that HOK has to choose from. Did you black out the door trunk & fender skirt lines & did you have any problems with bleed through?

how i spent my sunday
bang bang replied to Lownslow's topic in General Automotive Talk (Trucks and Cars)
I worked in the printing business for a while & we used MEK( Metal Ethel Key tone) for a cleaner. When I would get a paper cut the MEK would burn like hell for a few seconds after using it but the cut would heal quickly. Man that stuff would clean up unbelievable stains. But it would not clean up dried coffee stains -
Absolutely one of the nicest looking paint combination's that I have seen on a two tone 55 Belair Chevy.Nice!!!!!!!!

You mean like the glass balls that people use in floral plants & stuff, like the ones you see at Micheal"s? Great idea. Most of my paints are in 1/2 ozs. containers. Maybe the bb's would work best in that regard.Great idea.

Any comprehensive paint and finishing guides?

That's slicker than snot on a door knob. I love it.

I have used brake fluid exclusively but have never been in that much of a hurry to repeat a screw up.lol Most of the time the part will set in the fluid for days & I then will hose it off & wash it with dawn dish liquid. then I'm ready to go again.

Put the body in a conventional oven preheated to 100 degrees & bake for 8 hours .Works like a dehydrator. If you are skeptical put a styrene plastic spoon in the oven.Remember that all ovens are different heat wise so test it.I personally use a dehydrator set @105 degrees for eight hours when shooting enamel paints like Boyd's & Testers. You can buy a dehydrator @ Wal-Mart for forty bucks or less. You can cut the the paint after 24 hours & apply clear @ that time.Hope this helps.

Awesome truck build ,is that Boyd's pearl type paint? I cannot think of the color but it looks close to a color by Boyd that I have at home.

Everything about this model defines excellent building skills. The paint the stance. Its just eye candy, love it.As I was looking at your pics curb feelers came to mine. I'm not sure if it fits the time period or maybe they where used more on fifty type rides.I was a teenager at the time & drooled over anything with wheels.Nice thanks for sharing.

Here are some of my trucks
bang bang replied to 59 Impala's topic in WIP: Model Trucks: Pickups, Vans, SUVs, Light Commercial
Man you can stop modeling , there is no trucks left to build because you have done them all . I liked the German Shepard & all the trucks. Good work. -
Shoot man go to Lowes or Home Depot & buy a three to six gallon pancake type air compressor. I bought one for $160.00 & it hardly ever kicks on which scares the sh## out of me because its so in frequent. When I first started I bought one for $90.00 way back when And that little turd never shut up.Do yourself a favor & check it out.
