  1. Hello David Thank you for the compliments. No it is not based on any real truck. This project is straight from my imagination. Actually you can do anything with trucks as long that all you are doing is logical. I approched the build of this truck as a whole lot of small models mounted on a truck frame. This is an ad lib built. I did not plan anything trough out this project. However I did plan the interior of the living quarters as I had to plan the cut out of the walls for the windows. Being a small living quarters I had to make sure all would fit. I am having real fun building this truck and putting all these hours does not feel like a chore.
  2. Looks like you have an assembly line of Yellow freight trucks going. I will keep looking as the fleet increases. Daniel Gailloux
  3. Very nice twist with this build. Also a good rescue of the built-ups. Daniel Gailloux
  4. Hello All I am leaving Saturday morning to attend a Model car contest In Ontario Canada on Sunday Sept 26. If some of you are not far this is the link to get further information. Model car show link Best rsgards Daniel Gailloux
  5. Hello Sergey The kitchen sink as well as the oven, range , overhead oven fan, propane gas heating system, refrigerator are resin copies from the MPC recently reissued Camper by Model King. Let me know if you have any more questions. Thank you for the interest in my project. Best regards Daniel Gailloux
  6. Hello All Thank you for looking at the photos and the posting. Thanks for the compliments. For some of you I will be seing you at model shows. Best regards Daniel Gailloux
  7. Hello Clayton No I do not like white paint. First getting the color even all the time is a big job. The surfaces gets dirty with handling with my hands. A large proportion of my models are painted with Testors and Model Master model paints and I am having problems getting the white paint to adhere to the styrene surface. It chips a lot and I do not know why. It does not do this with colored paint go figure. Thank you for the compliments. Daniel Gailloux
  8. I must have put over 700 hours in this project doing things I had not done before. Turned out good my scratchbuild poject like I had not done in a real long time. I am enjoying it very much. Not looking at getting the top prize but want to participate in the show with a new project. Thank you for the compliments. Best regards Daniel Gailloux
  9. Hello Kurt That trailer is looking awsome. I will get to see it in person at the Fulton show, lucky me. Best regards Daniel Gailloux
  10. Hello All I have been working on my Mack truck. Getting it prepared for the Mega City model contest in Toronto, Ontario, Canada on Sept 26. I have not updated this project in a while. I now have a Laser printer (getting in the 21st century) in black only, so yesterday I printed some decals on laser paper I got Monday for my Mack truck. Most of what is left to do is the interior of the living quarters. I have made resin cast copies of the kitchen appliances from the reissued MPC camper. The polar bear and bear footprints is are clip art I got on the NET. I took 12 new pictures this afternoon and added them to my photobucket account. To see all the photos of this model truck here is the link to my photobucket account: Alaska Lab truck Thank you for looking at my project. Best regards Daniel Gailloux
  11. Hello Clayton Turned out nice. I like the choice of colors and paint scheme. From what I understand this truck is the result of using 2 build ups glue bombs. Not sure if you saw my Road Boss build. A similar situation. Started with a bad built up glue bomb and with my parts box made a decent model. Good work on saving models. It is like a cat this time it got a second life. Best regards Daniel Gailloux
  12. Hello Denis I use Testors Model Master and Tetors enamel paint applied with an airbrush. All paints are diluted with Testors enamel airbrush thinner. This is my preference I dilute 50 / 50, paint / thinner. I have been airbrushing for almost 20 years and love it. It will give you a chance to prepare any color paint you want. I use very seldom spray cans. With Testors spray can you should not exceed 2 coats. Most time the fist coat goes on well. The second coat will often orange peal. To avoid this you can put the can in a bowl with hot water from the tap not warmer than that. Shake the can a few times till you fell all the paint inside the can is warm. It need not be hot just warm. It will make the paint in the can more fluid and the pressure of the propellant more constant. Hope this helps. Daniel Gailloux
  13. Yes I do offer different types of rims and tires. When I was preparing my resin parts I had a dellima about tire / rim sizes. So the way I ended up preparing my tires and rims was to use the dimensions that are used in platic model kit trucks from AMT. Basically there are 2 sizes of tires: 20 inch and 22 inch. These are molded onto the tire sidewalls. Not sure what size you are looking for or what application you want to use the tires / rims. From the last post there was mention of low profiles tires 19.5 x 8 inch. Low pro tires Actually the tires and rims were prepared for this project. Here is a truck that used the 19.5 x 8 inch set.It is a GMC Topkick with a 20 ft NRC roll back platform. Topkick roll back If you would like more information you can contact me off board at: plaskit_resin@yahoo.ca Hope this helps. Best regards Daniel Gailloux
  14. Hello All The recycling of the White Freightliner is almost done. Missing are the decals. I have tried to make decals on my ink jet printer but was not able to get the ink to dry. This is my first attempt at making decals I will need to figure out the process to get it to work. Anyway this is what this truck ended up looking. I am surprised at how much I like this truck. It was such a fast re-build not my usual way of building truck kits. The kit was in bad shape so just tried to get it to look fair not a contest winner in any way. Hope this can inspire you. Added 8 new photos and to see all the photos see link below. This is the link to my photobucket account: My link Thanks you for looking. Best regards Daniel Gailloux
  15. Hello All I have worked on my White Road Boss and here are 7 new photos to update my build. The project is not finished. The major hurdle was putting hinges on the hood. The hood is hinged and the rest of the truck will fall in place more easily. Still have much work to complete the truck. The truck has painted stripes on cab and hood. Also detailed the front grill with flat black and silver paint I will need to put decals on the truck and trailers. I also prepared a 40 ft trailer from my parts box. This in preparation for the soon to be released White Road Boss. I will be preparing a 3 axle truck similar to this truck at least with same hood configuration. This is the link to my photobucket account with the 7 new photos and all the photos from the start of this project. My link Thank you all for looking. Best regards Daniel Gailloux
  16. I have made a mistake with the link sorry about that. I try my best sometimes it does not work. I will try again. My link Daniel Gailloux
  17. The model was not finished at the time the photos were taken. The stick shift is now glued in as well as mirrors. Daniel Gailloux
  18. Hello All I have built this model truck in a bit more than a week. It started as a built-up I puchased for the double 27 ft trailers (must have been 10-15 years ago). The truck was put in a zip lock bag mostly as spare parts for any White Freightliner build in the future. I was rummaging in the bag for parts and got the inspiration to build it. Nothing fancy here just using the parts in the bag and putting it back together and painting it. It will not have any mirrors none in the bag. So it will be a study in colors scheme. The cab is Painted Testord Boyds Lime Pearl. Chassis is Sublime Green. Diesel engine is Testors mix to match Cummins beige. Used Alclad chrome paint too. Also used for the first time Kirk rust powder and turned out very good. Changed the rims to Plaskit 2 hole bud rim make it a bit more like a fleet truck. The original truck kit had the wedge type braking system changed that to Plaskit S cam type braking system with backplate, booster detail set. Roof Freightliner marker lights from Plaskit. I aslo used resin cast U joints and fabricated new drive shaft. Here are a couple of photos of the truck. I will need you input. I have to put the air dam deflector on the roof to cover up previous builder glue marks on the plastic. However I do not know what color would work best for the deflector. Lime Pearl no way the color of the deflector would not match the one on the body. I was thinking of using the sublime green same as chassis but I do not think it would work out best. Anyway I will read your suggestions and see if I get the inspiration. Here is the link to my photobucket account: My link Best regards Daniel Gailloux
  19. Hello Mark You are off to a great start. Yes having fun is the goal after all. This is a project that I have built of a C500. In this case I used a AMT W900 cab from my parts box. All of the chassis is from a Kenworth Aerodyne a built up that was given to me and recycled with this project. I even used the Detroit engine and automatic transmission from the Aerodyne. The frame rails are scratch built. If you would like to see the whole album here is the link: My link Hope this help you with your build. Best regards Daniel Gailloux
  20. Hello Mathew Last post the attached photo did not show so I am retrying to see if it will work this time. I forgot a step when selecting the file. Now they are attached. Daniel Gailloux
  21. Hello Tim Another great project. It is the first time I see the fender extending all the way across the botom of the cab. It does make the truck look rugged. It ends up this color looks good on this truck. Best regards Daniel Gailloux
  22. Hello Mathiew Seems to me he scatchbuilt the chanel. He probably used the same technique I do to prepare my frame chanels. I cut a stip of styrene the height of the channel and glue a upper and lower stip of evergreen on the strip to make the channel. I have attached 2 photos showing this technique. Once the upper and lower evergreen stips are well glued I use a file and round the corners to make it look like the real frame rails. Hope this helps. Best regards Daniel Gailloux
  23. Thanks for the keen eye. I do have a photocopy (5000 sheets) box full of AMT 40 ft trailer parts that I have accumulated trough the years, built ups and parts. Yes I do have it covered. Many modellers would envy all the spare parts I have accumulated trough the years. With this build I got to use 2 x 40 ft trailers. I have assemble a 40 ft trailer to go with the present set or I should say to go with the fleet. I will be painting it this weekend. Thank you for your offer. Best regards Daniel Gailloux
  24. Hello Dennis Nice work on the Internationals. It is the first time I see a double sleeper International. Nice to see you save 2 old models. Keep us posted. Best regards Daniel Gailloux
  25. The model is this is still under construction. This build is all recycled models from my parts boxes and built ups. When I pulled out the trailer parts they were all built and one landing gear was complete and the second landing gear had a sand shoe and started painting it dark red and said to my self I will find the other sand shoe paint it and glue it to the missing leg. I whent trough my part box and could not find the other shoe. So I pulled out a set of wheels to put under the landing gear. I need to paint it drak red nd install them on the landing gear. Good observation this is what makes forums interesting to me as some see thing we may miss. Best regards Daniel Gailloux
