Model Junkyard

Hello guys, I'm back, after a while. I've been having some motivation issues with this project. But it's close to be finished soon. After painting the body, I've been doing some weathering and details. Here a few pics... I painted one matt brown layer first and two red layers on top. I wet sanded all the body with 1200 grit sand paper mixing rust powder in the water to get a superficial rust effect with minor rust holes here and there. I hope you like it!

Hi Jaroslav, great details! About the tires, I also think the original kit tires look a little strange.

It's looking great! I love the house in the center. Looks similar to the old medieval houses in Germany. I lived for 10 years in germany and have great memories connected to that! You are doing a terrific job on detailing. As said on the other thread, that makes the difference! I'll be watching!

Hi Dave! That's a cool model and great outdoor pictures as well! thanks for sharing! Yes, that's right, buildings in 1:25 scale take a lot of room. I'm already quite used to that. Anyway I try to build the models in a way that I can disassemble them for storage.

Hi Tony, your work is great! Great detail on the windows, roof cover, etc. That's what make a diorama look great, the details! Congrats! I also want to build a far west town some day, but 1/25 scale. Lot's of ideas, not enough time!!

I know I reoplcated a pair of Toks 39 as I like 'em better than the original Waynes on the original picture. It was not about making a 100% perfect replica, but much more something than I liked. About Walter Teague -the architect- sitting beside me, well, he was not sitting beside me but... I have a secret to confess... I'm an architect myself and building scale models is my passion since I'm a child. Ed, about your book, yes, you should do it! It's quite easy now with self publishing services and print on demand orders. You don't need to convince any publisher anymore :-) Here you have a few more pics, taken in switzerland last summer. There is a new gas station project on the workbench now. My brother Iggy, is working on a gas station based on a barn. Some kind of a rural gas station. Here an example of a painting by Dale Klee that served as inspiration for the project. Here the work in progress. It's not supposed to be exactly the same as Dale Klee's gas station. It's gonna be Iggy own design based on inspiration from many pictures.

Hello guys, I want to share with you our latest project. This summer, my brother and I build this Texaco Gas Station diorama. I know that the pumps are not correctly located and many details are still missing such as oil cans, counter inside the shop, the garage equipment, etc. I'll be building that stuff soon, I just had no time to finish it as good as I wanted and I had to leave to Switzerland for the photo shooting with my brother Iggy (he lives there). Hello guys. First of all I want to apologize for the long absence. I moved to a new home (besides all the furnishing I had to lay a new floor), we had our first child and we find our selfs in the middle of the startup phase of my wife's business. All in the last few months. We, my wife and I, are proud that we survived all this without trouble but a few things were left behind, such as this scale model. A few weeks ago I finally could pick it up again, so here I am. Here you see a few details of the block and the wiring. As you see on the pics, I used 2 types of wire for the wiring. A thinner brown wire and a thicker black wire cover which I pulled over the brown one to simulate the plugs. I also decided to build in more detail into the carburetor and air filter This way I can remove the air filter as real. I'll be weathering the engine soon. I'll keep you posted.
