  1. While I’m waiting on parts to finish my Charger I decided to build this MPC 1971 GTX. After I saw one in the new issue of Hemmings Muscle Machines. In doing some research I found out that there was 30 Hemi cars built and at least one was Plum Crazy Purple with the white and black interior so I’m going to replace the 440 that came in the kit with a Hemi. I’m also going with the Plum Crazy Purple and black and white interior. I’m using the Air Grabber hood from the 71 road runner kit instead of the 440 hood. I’ve started on the engine to see how it fits and looks like it’s going to be a good fit just need to make some engine mounts. I also added some filler panels in the engine bay to fill in the gaps. I’m probably going to stay with the molded in chassis. As always your comments are always welcome and appreciated.

  2. Ken looks like you had to tow your old GTX in from storage lol. Still looking good for being 35 years old! Looking forward to seeing what you do with the new one. By the way I’m also starting on a 71 GTX.

Wow man! REALLY blowin' through this one!! I've gotta say, I love the color on this car.

Thanks Joe I’m going to have to put a second coat on it so it may turn out a little bit darker.

Looking good, like that B7, and the rallye wheels are a good choice for that year Charger.

Thanks Dennis this is my second 70’s Charger and I want it different from my first one that has the magnum wheels plus I had the rally wheels leftover from a 70’s Cuda.

Oooh, very fine details on the white interior, and I love that blue body, nice!

    Thanks Dennis

  5. I used all my blue paint when I sprayed the body and I was doing a light wet sanding on the body and burned through in a couple places. I was afraid of that it seamed like the paint was thin in some places so I’ve ordered some more paint. I was able to work on the interior and believe I’m done with it now. I did a test fit to see how the interior fits in the body. So far so good. I just set the wheels to see how it looks.

That's a great looking color! I painted the Revell '67 Chevelle SS396 in Testors Arctic Blue Metallic Enamel that is a very similar color.

    Thanks Craig

The shade of blue you chose looks fantastic. I like it! So much nicer than the B5 blue.

Thanks Trevor. I’m still partial to my B5 blue.

Love B7 and it seldom seen on the 1:1 cars.  Keep up the good work.

Thanks David. I like building the rare 1:1 versions but sometimes they are hard to find.

Anybody know when this kit came out. It's got to be an older one. Does Revell have any plans to re issue it.

I could only find 1 on eBay and it's like $95.

Mike it was issued around 2016 and Spotlight Hobbies  has one for $55 https://www.spotlighthobbies.com/old-unbuilt-kits-1970-1979.html

Great color Dan, I like it!

Thanks Carl , I had this paint left over from another build and I ended up having just enough paint to do this one.

Man!!!! Crankin' 'em out these days Dan!! Got a front row seat and all the show food and drinks to go along with it to watch this one.

Thanks Joe, I may need a admission break on this one I’ve ordered more MAD distributors and BMF and waiting on the delivery. But yesterday I received my Hemmings Muscle Machines magazine and they did a write up on a 1971 GTX in Plum Crazy Purple. I have a old MPC GTX kit with the parts still in the sealed bag so if this one gets stalled I will be starting on this one.

Very nice job and great correct grill.

Thanks Dave. I’m surprised that Revell didn’t have it right seeing how they they picked up most of the other details for the AAR.

Very nice and the hood is bowed just like the real ones. Was that something you did or was it molded that way?

Thanks Gerald. I got lucky with the hood being bowed like the real ones.
