  1. Thanks Tim for taking all the pics! Who ended up with the awards? we had to leave before they where handed out. Oh by the way the Fuel Altered drag car on the primer table was mine (Matt Zimmerman) I wasn't trying to keep it a secret I just forgot to put my name on there.
  2. I love all the body mods you have done! Nice Fab work!
  3. Those H&R Chassis may just do the trick Thanks for the links...
  4. Looking to use new parts. The local track has both kinds of trak surfaces. Thanks for the responce.
  5. Hi guys it has been some time since I have been on the forum but I have been thinking about building some slot cars. I mostly build short track racecar models and over the years I have accumulated quite a few 1/24 scale bodies, I would like to build some as slot cars and I was wondering where are some good places to get parts I plan on making brass chassis but I need all the other goodies to make the rolling chassis? Thanks for the help guys!
  6. That's a sweet looking build you have going there!! I have an R-34 model that I want to do some more detail on it's nice to see that there is a motor kit out there for these cars.
  7. Well the front axel assembly is pretty much wrapped up. On to the rear end and the goofy two driveshaft setup I will explain more on that later. My little girl Shelly also came down to the shop to see what I was working on.
  8. I had an 85 and loved the thing till the LF came off and messed up the front fender, brakes and front valance. I wish I would have fixed it now but such is life. Grate looking Model
  9. Thanks Guys, Some pics of the front end stuff I have been working on (shocks and radius rods) I still have to do some cleanup work to refine the parts but at least I am moving forward. I also added some mounting brackets to the front axel
  10. I saw it in primer down at the Toledo NNL it turuned out nice!!
  11. Me and the wife are planning to go we are first timers. I have 4 just about ready to go my Jim Shampine Super modified build will be on the primer table. http://www.modelcarsmag.com/forums/index.php?showtopic=35710
  12. I did some work on the trunk, cut it out and fabed the trunk lip based on some resto pics I found I also started on the wheels they are made from one of the kit wheels and I cut out the centers and made up new ones for the wide 5 hubs the hubs I got from a buddy he made them fore one of his projects and it turned out this car ran the same style hubs. I still need to make caps for them.
  13. 1/16 Scale, the motor will be the 427 Ford from the AMT cobra kit, the two cars I started with where built e-bay spacals that where in rough shape but since I just needed the bodies it worked out good.
  14. I started this one a few months back this car ended up with a Mustang fron clip and the rest was 55 T-bird... More on the story of the real car later.
  15. Wow I like what you have so far... Reminds me of this one I saw a few years back.
  16. Hmmmmm, I am late to the party by I like the subject this is one that I have been wanting to build This car was raced in 1994-95 and is one of my favorite drivers, you can tell this Fairmont is pretty modified and would have sat on a Granada or T-Bird full frame since this class required it. I am not sure there is any Fairmont bodies out there but I thought I could start with something that had a similar shape and morf it into a Fairmont. Any ideas??
  17. Hay Kris Thanks for the valve Covers and other parts i got from you.
  18. That's cool that you got a chance to see it in person I wish I would have been able to see the car run. I do remember reading that it was sold and eneded up in CA I have an article about the guy that found the car in CA years later in a wine vineyard of all places and brought it home with plans to restore it to the original Shampine Car I can't think of his name right now I will have to find the article. I can scan you a copy I you like? Since you saw the car in person do you know of any pictures of the CA version of the car?? I would be interested in what it looked like I know the body changed based on a pic of the car in the article I have but is of the car sitting in the wine vineyard.
  19. Yes the motor is behind the driver and offset way to the left as is the hole car, Super Modifies are the ultimate short track speed weapons!! this car was so dominate that it was banned after the 79 season at Oswego Speedway where Jim ran, soon after many tracks banned them as well Jim was so mad that he went sprint car racing for a bit. Here is a good right up on Jim Shampine that I found, in the second pic you see a shot of the rear engine car this was what the car looked like at the beginning of the season and later he changed the front sheet metal to make the nose narrow. The car in the background is Jim's Front engine offset modified witch is what today’s Super Modifieds are based on. http://web.a-znet.com/~dave1w/shampine.htm Here is a current day super note the upper wing Oswego doesn't run the wing but most other tracks do that I have seen them at This was at Berlin Raceway MI my stomping gounds.
  20. Thanks guys the chassis is all evergreen and the tires are resin. They run some real meat for tires on these cars. I forgot to post a shot of the real car.
  21. Hey all I'm new to the form and this is one of my projects. It is a rear engine Super modified that was built and drivin by Jim Shampine back in 1979. Thanks for looking there are a ton of grate projects on here I don't know why I didn't join up sooner. Matt
