Cool. I like this kit and this truck. I'm glad to see they went with stripes and not mural decals that look like something from World of Warcraft.

I like what you've done so far. I still use rattlecans depending on what I'm doing. I still use Testors on occasion, mainly for frames and such. I try not to use it for bodywork.

The 1673/4 from what I could tell were lower horsepower engines. 250-290 hp I think. I'm not sure how well they were liked by drivers although I do know that the 1693 was like the 3406 of its day(best comparison I could think of) and liked by their drivers from what I've heard. They did have the nickname "Clatterpiller" because of the sound when running. Look up that nickname on youtube. There's a video with a KW that has this engine running at idle. I can see how the name came about. You'll find others, too. These shots are from a truck that was for sale on ebay back in '07. It's the KW I mentioned.

PACCAR was the one company I thought would care less about this. Especially with the fact that the most widely available toys/models/etc of trucks are PACCAR products. Well the stripes that you offer for cabs/hoods/sleepers are what I am mainly after.

Unfortunately, it's never been done in 1/25 except by brave modelers. One I've seen was done using the 3406 engine from the Revell snap kits and some AMT Cummins parts. It looked fairly convincing. I've wanted to do that and the 1674 as well. Finding reference material on them isn't easy, but I do have pix of a 1693 in a 1972/73 KW W900 if you would like to have them. Let me know.

That's pretty cool you have Dad's truck and will be finishing it for him. I've wanted to build that green 359 on the box myself. As to engine color, any Peterbilt of this vintage will have a white engine, regardless of engine manufacturer. Good luck on this build.

I've discovered that to be very true. I haul lots of combines and tractors to Case and John Deere dealers. Many will have a Huge selection of toys. Well detailed, too. None on 1/24-25 though. I look everytime I deliver.

You did a great job on the strap. It looks good. Running it under the rail is actually part of the regulations now, whereas I don't believe it was before.

Nice job on the trailer.

Anyone know of a 1/24-25 scale Hummer? I hauled one once on my flatbed a few years back, and would love to find some to make a load.

If you have it available, you should maybe include the air cleaner from the 4070A. The air cleaner was slightly different between the 4070A and B. That way, you could use either kit for the conversion.

This will be a cool piece for updating the Pete kits.
