  1. 1/43rd scale Provence Moulage resin kit from about 1986. Out of the box for the most part…
  2. Too bad kits don't come with instructions or something to help avoid those problems...
  3. Thanks guys. I have been working on the master for the brake calipers. Still some refining to do, all brass. Fits just right to the rotor… And I’ll use these old calipers I machined from aluminum (at least ten years ago for a Camaro that ended up with drum brakes) for the mechanical parking / E-brakes.
  4. Provence Moulage 1/43rd resin kit. Almost straight out-of-the-box, I had to source some decals and make a few to do this particular version. Testors enamel white and slightly tweaked purple…
  5. In 1/25 scale, 70-73 Camaro bodies are the same except for small badging. That is an RS (as opposed to a standard) and the interior (if it is the original) would probably provide more info as to the year it was supposed to represent. Looks like it has high back buckets, that would make it a later year car.
  6. This Matchbox has been sitting out of its package for almost a year. Never figured out what color it should be, until last week… Black & Mica Blue with a few decals off my sheet, and a few more from the leftovers box. New wheels with soft tires.
  7. Thanks guys. The detail visible through the windows and from the rear is just enough to make it convincing without having the builder make any more than necessary.
  8. Thanks guys. I'm calling it done: http://www.modelcarsmag.com/forums/index.php?showtopic=79764
  9. Fisher Pattern & Model kit built out-of-the-box. Here's the WIP thread: http://www.modelcarsmag.com/forums/index.php?showtopic=76116
  10. I'm waaay past 8, I'm in the double digits. I already made the rear body section for this one, but I'm still thinking out a front section...
  11. The chassis and body are together for the final time. Still a half dozen or so more parts to attach…
  12. It is no different than making a 1/25 scale engine, for example, neat and clean. Compared to the 1/87 and 1/160 scale cars I build, this is a giant.
  13. Thanks guys, it is a little Hot Wheels and almost 3 inches long.
  14. I made new wheels and tires (even softer than Hot Wheels "Real Riders") and replaced the windows. The rear wheels were upsized with brass to make big & little’s. Custom decals, layered fogged paint…

  16. The rack and pinion gears were cut from aluminum and the teeth section of the rack was cemented to brass guides. The rack teeth had to be pitched to match the input angle of the pinion. It does work. It will be snug fit but the steering shaft should clear the alternator…
  17. Thanks Steve, means a lot coming from you. After I made a few steering rack bellows, I decided to make the rack, but I needed to make the cross member/mount for the rack first. All these assemblies are made of brass, (except the boots). Once I install it into the frame with the engine I can get measurements to determine where the steering shaft will go. This one has some “working boots” on it so I’m not worried if they marred during the building.
  18. Thanks. Tilt style that pops off. And it has a turbo engine molded into the chassis shot.
  19. Thanks. I might do some other styles of rims. This was just an experiment, but it looks like it is worth exploring further.
  20. Super quick “custom”. I stripped, repainted and decaled it in a couple hours. I just wanted something to test out the first set of these new wheels I made. The tires are a little softer than HW’s Real Rider tires. And it still rolls. I made aluminum masters for the wheel and tire and cast the tires in a soft elastomeric compound and the rims in resin.
  21. Thanks Alyn, But I think you may be missing the process I used to make copies. The aluminum piece is the master. I made a two part RTV mold off it, then I cast the rubbery elastomeric resin from the RTV mold. Yes, the elastomeric stuff can be very gooey and flexible, it depends on the ratio it is mixed. It is actually easier to get the parts out of the mold if I mix it on the firm side.
  22. Thanks guys. I had the privilege of meeting Bill and his humbleness was refreshing. No reason to compare, I think Bill’s workmanship is exceptional too. Here’s more boots… Since I was making CV boots, I decided to make the steering rack boots as well. I turned a master from aluminum and cast soft rubber-like accordion boots.
  23. Thank you Scott. I cast the CV boots out of a rubber-like elastomeric resin and made half-shafts out of brass. Here is one CV/axle assembly and a “loose boot”. The inboard CV joints are already installed on the pumpkin. Here are both sides installed into the car. There is enough flexibility for the rear suspension to work. Top: Bottom:
