I assembled the pedal set into the foot box for the final time. I made the hardware and linkages and connected them to the master cylinder castings and brake & clutch pedals. The machined master cylinders were textured and painted to look like the cast parts they represent. I also made the cable with adjustment hardware for the throttle. This is not going to be a model of a virgin or trailer queen, so a little dust and grime was weathered into this sub-assembly. Still more parts and details to add to it though

Master cylinders for the brakes and clutch. Brake: Clutch: Aluminum and brass for the hydraulic parts and caps. I rough milled the reservoirs from raw resin and hand finished them. Still a little clean up required… The electrical connector for the brake master was also milled from resin stock.

I textured the dash and made the lenses for the gauges. The grab bar is assembled with shrink tubing for the rubber grip.

Thanks Harry. This will be the grab bar for the passenger side of the dash. I’ll add the rubber grip after it is painted.

Micro Mark Tools?
Scale-Master replied to John Pol's topic in General Automotive Talk (Trucks and Cars)
I have bought many things from them over the last 20 or so years, their service has always been top notch. But as others have mentioned, while some of the pricing can be up there, a lot of things are great values too. Check around and compare, sometimes the lower priced items are a better value, but often the cheaper items are not a better value in the long run. Get on their mailing list for printed catalogs and email sale items. They have a lot to offer. -
Here is the nearly finished stereo dash unit. I built it in two layers. The knob is machined aluminum, (with 10 facets). The display was cut from some holographic material that changes colors, mostly blues & greens (and has some abstract images in it) when viewed from different angles. Doesnt really photograph too well though Here it is loosely dry assembled.

Hobby Shops... Are They Viable Today?
Scale-Master replied to Tom Geiger's topic in General Automotive Talk (Trucks and Cars)
It sounds like you have put a lot of thought into this venture Tom. The hobby shops in my area are disappearing, and the big chain stores like Hobby People and Hobby Lobby for example do provide some of what I need, but they often only have at best half of what I am looking for at any given visit. Special orders? Hardly worth the effort even when they are willing to try. Plus they sorely lack the personal attention and understanding of what a modeler wants/needs. A true hobby shop staffed by knowledgeable and personable modelers is becoming a rare thing. I hope you can make it work. -
Hobby Shops... Are They Viable Today?

Harry, do you really expect a complete and honest answer from Art on that topic? Especially here? Your sense of humor is showing... Besides, many of us already know the true answer and remember the distasteful past reality of that issue. -
The almost finished grilles and the speakers (one is assembled on the right). The speaker cones were machined from black nylon and the centers are aluminum.

Thanks Greg! This is the start to the stereo. More brass etch work. It is an AM/FM/MP3 weather resistant unit. That is an SD card slot on the upper right, the USB port is below it…

Yeah, turned out my wife was a natural at airbrushing. She'd watch me, then copy. Come to think of it, it was about the time I had her start cleaning it up after she sprayed that she started getting "tired" of building...

I often get "You're so funny" when I share my modeling progress with my wife. She used to build too, but she found other hobbies she enjoys more. I must admit it was fun while it lasted when she would build across the bench from me.

Here is the shroud and fan assembly loosely fitted to the radiator assembly. I also have the bug screen set in place for the front of the radiator. Only a few more parts to make for this sub-assembly…

If I go to the meeting I will bring it... Since I was drilling holes for the radiator core, I went ahead and made the pedals; from aluminum.

I dunno... It looks pretty tall... BTW, Best build of this kit I have ever seen.
-
Still fitting and fine tuning, but I have the upper and lower hose mounting points done and machined the filler neck from brass. I’ll finish straightening out the core pieces once the major handling work is done. (The metal is soft and bends very easily.) At this point there are 80 parts making up the radiator with more on the way.

What model was your favorite build?
Scale-Master replied to clovis's topic in General Automotive Talk (Trucks and Cars)
Right now it is a tie between my last 1/12 scale Seven and the current one in progress. Ask me again when I finish the one I'm working on... -
Thanks Greg, and you are welcome Len. I started on the radiator. First I made the outer shell to fit within the nose of the car. Next I made the frame for the core. The core is made up of aluminum rod and steel wire.
