Morro bay has me with fresh oysters. I dont know how much I spent there. My wife will love solvang. And the wine. There are enough golf courses to keep me busy for a while -

Frozen, windy paradise. -
Ive lived in wyoming for 15 years. That is coming to an end in June. Going to California. Ive always had issues building here. The glues I use dont like to work in a no humidity environment. I build in the garage, so winter building in wyoming is not an option. Wont have those problems anymore. The whole family seems pretty excited. We are going to Vandenberg AFB. I just spent two months there, and really enjoyed it. Now im looking forward to getting some stuff built!

what if I'm polishing up to 15000 grit, and still not happy?

trey allen replied to David Thibodeau's topic in Car Kit News & Reviews
Picked mine up today. Body looks really nice. I'm going to look and see what I can find for 1/12 scale engine, wheels, seats, etc. Not even sure where to look. -

I put one on hold at the lhs today. I wish it had more details, but I'll live with it. I just wont park it next to any of my Tamiya stuff. -

Thanks Gregg, If it helps any, I am trying to set up the news feeds on my Droid X. I was able to get it to work for another site, but not this one?

Does anyone use the RSS feed? I cant get it to work on my phone for some reason?

What do you guys usually do? On my 910, I painted the inside of the bottom pan first. Masked off, and painted the outside. I am now having coverage problems, and paint is building where I masked. I wouldn't have had this problem if I painted the outside first, and then the inside. I know I can take care of the buildup, it will just take elbow grease. I have had coverage problems on the sides of the model. I don't know what the deal is. I have painted, wet sanded, painted again. Looks like another round of wetsanding, and hope that takes care of it.

Anyone have any idea how to duplicate the finish of these fiberglass parts? I have a color matched for it. I was thinking of a black base coat, then spraying a watery yellow over it, but i dont know what to spray it on, like a stencil of sorts. http://www.pbase.com/9146gt/image/133971555

acrylic paint. watery?
trey allen replied to trey allen's topic in General Automotive Talk (Trucks and Cars)
Well, the compressor was set at 30 psi. Might be part of the problem? -
Another new guy question. I guess ill be asking a lot of these. Anyway, I am airbrushing acrylic tamiya paints. It is going on, well, very watery. I am using restore airbrush acrylic thinner because that's all the hobby store had. Primer is plastikote. Temperature is 40 in the garage. Probably a combo of everything?

Alclad over plasti-kote
trey allen replied to trey allen's topic in General Automotive Talk (Trucks and Cars)
It is the polished aluminum. -
Today, I sprayed some parts with Alclad. I had previously primed them with Plasti-kote. All of it was dry, and i started to mask it off. The tape pulled the Alclad right off. I had read somewhere that plasti-kote was perfectly fine to use with Alclad. Am I wrong? Anyone have any words of advice?
