  1. Started this with priming everything yesterday. Today, I masked the pan for space frame painting, oi!
  2. Better replace that single port engine with something bigger!
  3. I got the rat rod comment about my car a lot. I think what the issue is, is that some people dont understand the term rat rod, and throw it at anything that is flat black, and old. Honestly, I would usually get offended when someone would call my car a rat. It was normally the older guys with 39 fords that they bought a few years ago, paid someone to do the work, and then drove it on occasion. My car was built by me, over a few years. There was no rust, everything worked on it, and it was perfectly safe (except when I was driving, haha). Honestly, the phrase is almost dead. Its nowhere near as prominent as it was 4 or 5 years ago, and im ready to see it go. My car is long gone. I sold it to some guy in Cali for about 10x what I had into it. I miss it at times, but I don't usually have regrets.
  4. oh no, dont make the hambers mad
  5. after driving a chopped car with a visor, the holes would be nice. its hard to see sometimes.
  6. I do like it, and I agree that they should have finished the metal on it. However, I'd be more than happy to call it a rat. Looks like the front axle is on top of the frame. Huge no-no. Given the space, I'd assume its running quarter elliptical springs, which I like the idea of. My feelings on this car are confused!
  7. wow, you build, and video, very fast! looks nice
  8. Thanks for the input. That is what I had in mind. Seems to be the logical way to do it. My baja is bigger than yours
  9. I am wanting to build a 1/24 or 1/25 version of my Centurion. I have found early a few Bronco kits that I can use, as well as the front grill and bumper from f150 kits. Anyone have any suggestions on what I should do for the back door? I don't know how good I would be at scratch building that part. I'm sure I could do it eventually, just looking for an easy option. Here is a picture of my truck. Thanks everyone! trey
  10. I love it! Any way to find 96 tail lights, and make it a four door?
  11. Well, this is my first shot at this stuff since I was 10. Back then, I built a model in hours, and thought it was great. I've been working on this for 4 days now, and its turning out.....decent? The blower intake didn't go well. Tried painting the butterflies, but one of them bled out, so it became tinted red. And I still have a lot left to do on it. Anyway, please, tell me what I could do better.
  12. I've had a few instances where the glue is still tacky the next day. I hold it for a while after applying glue. I'm thinking about trying another glue to see what it does. I have always had issues getting CA glues to setup for me. I have been working on my engine for 4 days now, mostly because of glue times. Thanks for the info on the resin kits. I have no plans of building one any time soon. I want to learn as much as I can first. If I can't get past glue problems, I sure can't handle a resin kit!
  13. First of all, I'm having a hard time with glue. Its mostly been on my chrome parts, but it's been a few other parts too. My glue just will not set up. I am using Tamiya glue, and I have been sanding the chrome off before applying glue. They just don't set up. Is glue humidity or temperature sensitive? Its cold here, and dry. I have some CA glues that I can try, just wanted to get the pro's opinions first. Secondly, in reading here, I hear a lot of talk about resin kits. Anyone care to explain those to me? Are they kinda low production, better quality, or what? thanks! trey
  14. Thanks guys! I just got back from the hobby store. Bought paint, glue, tools, all kinds of stuff. I wanted to try Tamiya paints, but we didn't have a Tamiya primer. I wanted to keep the manufactures the same, so I stuck with Testors Model Master. Here is what started this. A guy came into the store and ordered a 1/12 Tamiya Lola a few weeks ago. When I showed up, I decided I have to be able to build that one day. So it's time to learn how to build a respectable model!
  15. Just wanted to say hi to everyone. I haven't built a kit in about 20 years. I recently got a part time job at a local hobby shop, and all the models really got me itching. So I purchased an AMT Hippie Hemi. I wanted to take a lot of time on this, and put a lot of detail into it. I wasn't expecting the kit to be 90% chrome. I'll still try my best with it. Thanks for having the forums here. I'm going to read as much as I can, and do some learning.
