  1. Wow thanks for all the compliments! I really appreciate all the great feedback. Gluhead, the greem came from http://www.paintwithpearl.com/. it's their lime Green candy pearl with some pearl ex gold and yellow mixed in and sprayed over a black base. The flames are DuPont gold EFX pearl topcoated with more green to blend them in.
  2. Dirtmodeler has tons of Late Model parts. http://www.dirtmodeler.com/
  3. Thanks guys! Skip, that was my goal with this build, I wanted to make something radical without going over the top like most show rods. finished pics are posted under glass http://www.modelcarsmag.com/forums/index.php?showtopic=65703&pid=804571&st=0&#entry804571
  4. The Merc is finally finished! Thanks for looking! let me know what you think. I'll post more pics once photobucket decides to cooperate with me.
  5. Nice! Your suspension work looks awesome.
  6. I work summers and days off school doing bodywork at a restoration shop to fund my 1:1 project car and my numerous go kart projects.
  7. Thanks for all the encouragement guys! I really wasn't sure how this was going to turn out but I'm pretty happy with the outcome so far Anyway, heres some progress. I've managed to get the interior painted and it's now ready for final detailing along with the chassis and engine bay. here's a few mockups to show the final ride height Thanks for looking, let me know what you think! next update will be under glass... Billy
  8. Great paint work! that extra coat of red really gives the color a nice depth, for the hood i would recommend sanding the sides lightly with 600 or 800 grit paper until it fits again and then "paint" the edges black with a sharpie so you don't have any build up again from the black, I've used this trick lots of times and it works great.
  9. Sorry for being MIA with this for a while, I've been busy getting ready for a contest thats next weekend and after that the Impala will be back on the bench until it's finished.
  10. I'll be there, I can't wait to see what everyone brings!
  11. Nice work! This is one of my favorite kits, I can't wait to see how it turns out.
  12. Update Time! it took a little longer than I would have liked but the Merc is painted! I used a custom mix of green, gold, and yellow pearls sprayed over black for the green and the ghost flames were done using a light gold pearlwith some of the green mixture sprayed over it to tone them down so they only show up at certain angles. I also finished the major assembly of the frame, suspension was painted using testors metalizers and i used scratchbuilt coil springs in the front. Anyway enough talk heres the pics.. I need to have this one finished by next weekend so expect some updates soon...Billy
  13. You are doing some awesome work on this! great job on the hood and the spoiler, they both compliment the lines of the car and they really give it an aggressive look. I like it!
  14. Who makes that body? I NEED one! lol
  15. I'll definitely be watching, Regals are my favorite cars and Grand Nationals are pretty much the baddest of them all! I can't wait to see what you do with this.
  16. I've been thinking a slightly shaved mild custom with a metalflake roof and cadillac sombrero hubcaps. Most likely lowered quite a bit too, I'm not sure how much though at this point. I want it to represent something that could actually be driven daily.
  17. If Sean can't afford it, then he can't afford it. plain and simple, that being said I would gladly help if I could but right now my 1:1 is eating all my money. I almost wonder if looping the project back through the people that have already worked on it and done what they were supposed to do until it was finished would be a good idea. this way we know the project would at least be somewhat on schedule since the people working on it have already proven that they will ship it when the time comes. just a thought.......Billy
  18. i'm going with model on this one.
  19. It's definitely a nice car, but I think it's about time for a new body style for the corvette, hopefully the 2014 model will actually be an "all new" car!
  20. Nice build! Red is a great choice for this car, much better than the typical orange.
  21. I'm calling this one real!
  22. automotive fillers work great, just make sure you prime and sand the part before applying filler or it is likely to not stick very well.
  23. Nice paint! what did you use to mask the flames?
  24. Awesome work so far, I can't wait to see it as a roadster!
