I am not a doctor of zombology, but I have seen alot of footage(movies). It seems zombies are not smart at all, usually capability ends at tearing at boarded windows. The smartest one I remember was the one that attacked Charleton Heston. He figured out how to raise a 2x4 and slamm it on the hood of his car. lol i would think tires will be safe until one tries to chew on it, in which case you put it in reverse and use the grinder. now that I think about it, those zombies that attacked Micheal Jackson, were pretty smart too. at least in the "lord of the dance" region of the brain. just don't put any show curtains or stage lights around the wheels and they should be safe from that breed too. lol

that's nothing, see those baggies back there? that's the rest of my bits. I told you guys in a previous post i got a bunch of them.

got my model in the mail today and went through my bits. this is my start. going to make it a carrier/long range fighter. going to put shelves for food in ext. cab and build sides and a tarp in the back for water/ weapons etc. the trailer will have a catapult or air cannon or ?. it will have armor but is made to stay back from the hard contact. It is more for flinging large heavy objects (like pianos)into crowds, and for storage of rations and weapons.

Cranky's Tissue Paper Upholstery & Headliner Quicky
hoopty388 replied to Dr. Cranky's topic in Tips, Tricks, and Tutorials
I need to get better at long explanations. I have a tendency to think , If I know how to use the papier-mâché technique, everyone does. lol. btw if you don't mind I like to go by hoopty or hoop if you don't like wasting time on the second syllable. lol -

I'm not a pro like cranky but I would use a superball or air filled water balloon(the are smaller). -
The Monte's Motors garage crew / Jackson's visit
hoopty388 replied to Monte's Motors's topic in WIP: Dioramas
how much liquid lunch did the guy in the work bay have? looks in rough shape -
I have also used the heated method but I slide it back a little when I press it down so it bulges a little in the front. Also seems to work better on a piece of glass as the flat surface.

got the 40k stuff in this weekend. HOLY COW!! I have nough weapons and tank parts for 20 builds, now need to scrape up some cash for paint and a donor car. I also have a ? for cranky. on the car you built the front wheel covers look welded on. How did you do the welds? is it just clumped up body filler or melted sprue? or something else?

was going to try big lots this weekend . the nearest one is a 45min drive so I only go once in a while. hoping for a 4 door car but i could make a wagon work. got a pretty wild idea going but a wagon could me modified to work.

i was reading cranky's post and saw the mention of using 40k parts. I remembered I had a box of 40k stuff, but there was nothing i could use. I then came up with the idea of posting on a 40k forum and was able to do some trading. I now have a box full of guns, knives, grenades, and tank parts on the way. I am currently watching e-bay for some 1/24 people and a junk car. I'm not super picky, but hoping for a 4 door mid 70's or earlier car. main criteria is cheap. lol soon as I can get some things together I will be starting. still searching my garage for my old citadel paints too.

If this is going on still I'm VERY interested. I have done lots of junkyard models but this never dawned on me. This is perfect for me, rust, junk, blood, guts, and death. All the things that make life worth living! I am waiting to pick up some junkyard boxes from ebay (and think I have one coming from here), then I will get started. wanted to bookmark this and come back. thought I saw where this was restarted in a new post, if so please link me.

How To Make Opening & Functional Doors, Hoods, and Trunks
hoopty388 replied to nwmud's topic in Tips, Tricks, and Tutorials
I learned this trick years ago. used it ever since. the trick is move back and forth fast enough to melt the plastic but not so fast that it makes the plastic "gooey".found it works best on trunk lids and sunroofs. Is an advantage over "backkniving" on things like sunroofs or half - doors, where you don't have a groove to start with. sure many will disagree, but just my $.02. I believe there is a time and place for everything. If you say "I'll NEVER use that!" you only limit your abilities. -
i used a piece of sprue and the dremmel to make a "liquor" bottle. for my ghetto sled. would imagine a jack bottle would be eveneasier since it is mostly square

didn't see an introduction area, so I would put it in with my first post. I have not done models in years, and thinking about getting back into the hobby. I currently have only 1 model that I built about 10 years ago. I build "realistic", or "dirty" models. I am here because I looked through the site and saw some of the best tips I ever saw and, now I am toying with the idea of getting back into it. I didn't have internet at the time and there was very few magazine articles on these types of models so pretty much everything is self taught. when I pulled this out of storage it was pretty busted up. going to pick up some glue and then possibly some better pics. sorry for the blurry ones, but thought I would at least get something up. also forgot to pic the underside which I am very proud of. The interior is very detailed but hard to get pics of. If there is enough interest in her I will give better description of the work. thanks for looking. btw for those that don't get it, she is a model of the cars you see in rougher neighborhoods where the take a 1500 car and put in 12000 in stereo and rims. lol
