  1. Glad to hear you doing good. 8 years ago I had to do it the hard way, gastric bypass surgery. The day of surgery I weighed 355lbs. When I finally leveled off after the surgery I was 157. Yep I lost 198 lbs. Got off 10 different meds I was on, was taking 13 at the time, everything from blood pressure to diabetes med. Now I am up to 200 which the Doc told me would happen eventually. Feel great, just a touch of arthritis from being behind the wheel for too many years. Recently in the last 3 weeks, I have dropped another 15 lbs. after I quit my semi driving job, and would like to lose a bit more.

Couple years back I went to my 40th class reunion, and arrived a bit late. When I walked in no one recognized me. As I weighed less then I did when when I was in Junior HS. It was a great feeling. The girl I dated back in HS was well lets say kind of grandmotherly plump. Only 3 of my classmates knew of the surgery and I swore them to secrecy.

  2. Okay change in plans. I did a different building than what I had pictured before.

Next up was some minor construction, and pre-placement of the track design.

Then it was time to construct the track.

And then to place it inside.

Now I have to do the inside walls, and interior pieces.

  3. My last 2 creations both had to do with tragedies. The Last Ride, posted below, is about the demise of John Milner from the More American Graffiti movie. Before that I did the DEADMAN'S CURVE Diorama, from the Jan and Dean song.

Other than that I like to try to construct a town type setting, as I am working on different types of neighborhoods. Some good, some kind of seedy looking.

  4. Do they sell HO trainsets.

Yes they do. They have a full selection, of trains, and diorama accessories.

That's sweet. You know those kits would be small in HO scale.

We also stock cheater glasses to help you see the tiny parts. However you'll need a No. 11,000 X-ACTO knive.

  5. Decided to do something in HO again, so I whipped this one out today and got it just about done. Some minor detail items to be added yet, but the basic's are there.

  6. Very nice! It's good to see those old kits being built instead of hoarded.

    Sam

This was a commission job for a client. he bought the model, and had me do it. However I have had some older ones myself that I have built over the years. I used to collect with the thought of selling them later, but run out of room. Now I build what I buy, doesn't matter the age. Still have a few older kits I am looking for, and when I get them I will build them.

  7. Already got my room reserved for this years event in MPlS. Hope to see you there. Here are links to past shows.

If you open 2012, scroll through the side bar to the main title, then click on the different categories.

  8. If you really think about it, that's what this hobby is all about. The imagination at work, whether it's the build or the feel of owning the real thing. and yes, I'd like to see all of those kits reissued. :)

Yeah that would be nice. Back in the late 60's a shop here in town was going OOB. You walked in the front door, and from floor to ceiling, for a good 30 feet, there were those double kits for $0.50 a pop. Yep only 50 cents. Man if a guy only knew then what they go for now.

  9. ?

Bill to answer your ? in the movie American Graffiti, John Milner was shown as being killed by a drunk driver. Fast forward to the sequel if you will, More American Graffiti, and they track the progress of the main characters after graduation. It shows John's 32 Ford heading down the highway at dusk, with the oncoming car swerving over the center line.

BTW I work in the smaller scales that is why this one is done in 1/64th.
