  1. ....when your just about finished with a project and can't wait to upload some pictures of it and your wife's digital camera craps out on you! GRRRRR!!!!
  2. How did you make the taillights?
  3. I remember that car. They called it the "push me, pull me" Citation. It had one engine in front and one in the rear. If I recall, they also had a 4 wheel steer Camaro which became the basis of the Silverado's 4 wheel steering package many years later. Oh, and Chuck -If Revelle made the 2000 up Bonneville kit, what would I do with my spare time?!
  4. That's a great idea Michelle. I wasn't going to put an engine in it, but now that you mention it I do have a turbo V6 from a Syclone model that I pretty much ruined. Thing is though, I'd like to make a supercharger for it like the L67 engines had, so it would take a little "engineering" I was thinking about a 1990 Grand Prix model for the body cladding, but then I came across these things called K & S Metal Shapes at hobby lobby and I'm going to give those a shot. I wish I had known about Plastruct before I bought them, but it looks to me like they will do the job.
  5. Thanks guys. I used the Revelle Police Impala snap kit as the donor. I originally tried doing this months ago and about gave up. I was using a late model Charger as the donor and I just couldn't get it to work out right. Here's what I've done so far... I sculpted the front nose by hand out of glazing putty. The grill is a cut screen. The lights are the Impala lights with the edges rounded off. The rear end and taillight panel came from a prostock Grand am resin kit. The trunk lid is interesting; the Impala lid was too flat and squared off, so I cut it off and then cut and reshaped a Dodge charger hood into a trunklid. Next, I'm adding some roundstock down the sides and wrapping around the bumper to get the character lines.
  6. Not even done with the truck project and I already started making my next custom. I remember when they came out with this body style in the 90's. I remember it was the first time I ever looked at a 4-door with lust! ...more to come!
  7. Finished the interior yesterday...
  8. Love that blue color, very unique. Is the guitar the one from the Dodge Magnum kit? It looks familiar.
  9. Ok, so here it is with paint... Admittedly, I began rushing it a little because i'm so anxious to see what one looks like finished. Come on - we're all guilty of doing that once or twice, right?
  10. Reminds me of a Can Am Spyder with the rear axle of an ATV. I like it. What scale is that?
  11. Thanks for the encouragement guys. Seeing how well this one was turning out has led me to go back and redo another vehicle that I was trying to fabricate a few months back but gave up on. Turns out I just had the wrong donor in mind for it. Once I get a little further I'll put that up here too. On a side note; I'm discovering that I'm not a very good painter. Since I was trying to emulate my 1:1, I used the Model Master 2 part system for the paint and I'm not too proud of the results. I really got spoiled by Testors One Coat quick dry Laquer. Only problem is they only do metallics in that line. Why is that? BTW - here's my 1:1... I may want to come up with something for the camper top for the model. Any suggestions?
  12. Here's another neat little tidbit I'm working on for my truck; The 1998-2003 taillights look like this, which is what comes in the lindberg kit.... The 2005 & up taillights look like this.... Here's what I did... ..basically, I just took the stock lights from the kit and glued ferarri enzo taillights on top of them. I tried to cast this as well, but unfortunately it wouldnt reproduce right.
  13. Hi Joe - I'll need to cast a few more, then I will certainly list it for trade. I only made 3 copies - one that I just painted for my own use, one that I listed on ebay for giggles, and the last one someone else on the forum already inquired about trading for. No biggie though- I just need to sneak a trip to Hobby Lobby for more resin when the wifes not looking! Jose, I just used Alumilite resin for the casting. It comes out pretty good if you swish it around the mold and wait just until before it starts to harden to put the second piece of the mold in. Like I said, Im still new to this, so i'll be my own worst critic and point out a couple of things that needed work on the casting that I started painting for my own model.... Its not perfect, but I've purchased some resin stuff that needed a lot more work to finish. I find it particularly annoying when there are "warts" all over a casting from air bubbles that need to be filed off. I was very happy that I didn't have that problem with these.
  14. I've seen a Cuda conversion kit, but not the hood scoop you're referring to. If you do a search for it, they call that style scoop a "shaker" because when you open the hood of the car, the scoop stays behind with the engine. My 1:1 has one - a 1979 Trans Am. They are really cool because they shake at idle putting anyone who pulls up next to you at a light on notice!
  15. Got any kits or items for trade? I'm looking for any diorama items like trees, grass, figures, accessories, etc..., I'm also looking for late '80s early '90s pontiac rims, and the snaptite early 2000's Police Impala.
  16. I'd say its a hobby right now, but I'm not opposed to selling or trading. It's only my second attempt ever at casting anything, so it's not like I'll be putting modelhaus out of business anytime soon, LOL. I put a listing for one up on ebay just to see what kind of interest I get, but I may post one up here on the "swap, trade, or free" section
  17. Thanks for the compliment. I just finished my first resin casting out of the mold... ...she's in for paint now. Can't wait to see how this turns out!
  18. Hey folks! Thought I'd share my progress so far on a kitbash I've been working on. The primary donor was a Lindburg Dodge Dakota. I also used the front clip from a Revelle Magnum, and various parts from other kits as well, including a Charger and Ferarri Enzo..... Obviously, some bondo and a lot of sanding and shaping was required..... The 1:1 Dakota's hood opens separately from the fender lines, so I built up the underside of the fender creases, then took them back down to emphasize the hood as appearing separate. I used an Uptown Charger SRT hood since the scoop was the same as a 2007 Dakota RT hood scoop.I had to extend it to meet the grille, and reshape some things... currently have the piece in a silicone mold which is curing. I'm attempting to cast copies in case anyone else is interested in this truck's body style. It's not a 100% accurate match to my 1:1, but it's a lot closer than the Gen 2 Dakota style was in stock trim. Here's a pic of an '07 RT in 1:1 scale... The bumper has more of an "underbite" on the real thing, and the lines of the hood stop a little shorter in width as well, but making this was a lot of fun and I'm pretty happy with the results. Let me know what you guys think so far!
  19. That looks great, especially the engine detail. I don't know what it is about wagons, but lately I'm really into them.
  20. I agree with Eric - please show us a shot of the billet grille!
  21. Wow - I just did a search on that Volvo model and man, it is very close. I used to own an '86 Buick Century and that year they offered a GS and a T-Type version and I always thought it would be neat to have a model of those.
  22. If you just need the engine, There's a company called PTX mini-engines that makes very detailed 1/25 die casts and the Ford flathead six is one of them.
  23. I'm kind of surprised that there doesn't seem to be anything forthcoming as far as models of the new Dodge designs. Between the new Ram, Durango, and the redesign of the 2011 Charger, I would think someone would be producing some new kits to keep up. Am I missing anything?
  24. Where are you guys getting all of those distributor cap/wire sets from?
  25. Just about finished.... She's offering 5 grand after a test drive in a Hemi?! No way! the carpet matches the headliner...in the car that is Gotta dig that tie! Moved the compressor to the bed of the token beater...
