  1. Well, after a long sabbatical, I'm back on this build. I found a blue marmoleum flooring

sample online so I did a screen capture and merged the same pattern together in PhotoShop and printed it out on heavy card stock. Its now attached to the frame with double sided carpet tape. I've also made the table and galley cabinet top out of Evergreen plastic. I'm currently working on a small shelf to go above the stovetop mounted to the cabinet. Once this is done, I' post some pictures.

  2. It was great to finally meet you Tom. Sorry we didn't get to hang out, it was such a busy weekend.

Since most of my photos have lost their link, here's a couple of photos. The guitar has been updated since this picture as it now has strings. Nothing else has changed.

  3. Time to resurrect this thread and let you know I took this to GSL last weekend and to my amazement, it won 'Best In Class' honors in the Light Commercial category. I'm truly humbled and honored.  I'll post some updated pictures later today.

  4. Just got back late last night from my first GSL and unfortunately, it is the last one. I entered this project in the Diorama class and am so ecstatic it took top honors. I am completely floored. The number of entries and quality of builds was astounding. So glad I got this back in my possession to get it repaired.  Here's picture of it on the contest table and a picture of the slide.  I'm still in disbelief!

  5. Well, this dio has re-emerged. I donated this build to my flyfishing club for their annual raffle and a friend won it. His nephew was completely enamored with it so he gave it to him. After a time, his child got a hold of it and really did some damage. I have it back in my possession to repair it in order to take it to GSL next month. I'll post some pictures of it in its current state in a few minutes.

  6. How did we miss each other again David? Thanks for your comments. It's really not a problem moving it because everything, and I mean everything, is glued in place. I can even tip it on its side to access the wiring underneath for the working lights and nothing moves. I'm trying to figure out how to power the lights with a battery or batteries so it doesn't need to be plugged in to the wall. Need to get this figured out by GSL.

  7. Greg - thanks for the gentle push to updates the welding tanks. They look so much better. I also finished up the Fender Champ Amp and put it in place.

Thanks for your interest Brad - LordModelBuilder. See you at GSL.

  8. Thanks for your comments Greg. I put those tanks on probably 25 years ago before I knew anything about welding. I'll try to pull one of the tanks on the cart and see if I can paint it green. I have the proper decals for them.

  9. I finished up the brass engine stand and added a Curbside Dioramics / R&D Unique white metal SBC engine block after polishing the areas where the heads attach. I also drilled out the holes for the push rods and water jacket channels. These engines haven't been available for over 25 years so I'm glad I picked one up back then. This got glued in last night to replace the plastic stand and block that was in the exact spot previously. Here's a few pics.

    The fun continues...

  10. A bit more work on the Stratocaster and I thought I was done but I still need to scribble the Fender logo on the top of the neck piece. I just had to set it in place in the dio to see how it looks. Its sitting next to the amp I'm still working on.

  11. I don't think I'll put in the album cover, I want it to be more subtle than that. Only diehard fans will get it.

Here's picture of the Strat so far and I'm going to start on the 'cheezy' Fender Champ amp soon.

  12. With GSL coming up,  I really need to get crackin' on this. Currently I'm working on a vintage Fender Stratocaster using photo reference from my brother. I'm just not sure where I'm going to put it since this wasn't planned until recently.

I made the body out of two sheets of Evergreen glued together, the neck is made from actual oak and the fret board is made from printing plate. My plan is to have strings on it, time will tell.

I also added a picture 'Codi's' Bantam build he completed some time ago. I told him I was going to do this eventually.

    The fun continues.

  13. A question for all of you. I started a thread when I first joined this forum about my long standing dio named Joe's Garage and I just went through over a hundred pages looking for it. It didn't come up in a search, seems everything else did, so I went through all of the diorama pages and still couldn't find it. I am adding a few new things and want to update the thread.

Do all of the old threads fall off into oblivion?
