Has any one seen resin Ford Rangers anywhere of this generation. If seen the 1980 Bronco kits (to build a truck from, not the best idea). I own a 1987 Ranger and I would like to find one to build.

I know a lot of have you built or bought these cars. Of the 100 years of Indy only a select bunch is available to us modelers. Let's see some collections built or still boxed. A quick search of Pace gave me 2,500 hits, too many to read - lol. Any leads to decals would be a plus. We all know the Fred Cady sheets are virtually gone. I have some kits (still boxed) but I will build. 1946 Lincoln Lindberg 1946 Cady decals 1950 Merc Amt Cady decals Modifing 49 kit to conv 1953 Ford Lindberg Box stock 1955 Chevy Monogram Box stock 1964 Mustang Monogram Box stock 1971 Challenger AMT 70 Convt kit Cady decals 1989 Firebird AMT Box stock 1993 Camaro Monogram Box stock 1994 Mustang Monogram Box stock I know there is many more available but cant buy them all at once - LOL

49 merc convertible boot
WoodyRDC replied to WoodyRDC's topic in General Automotive Talk (Trucks and Cars)
Thanks for help so far guys. Yes Jon I was going to try to make them if I couldn't find something. I need 2 (1 for my 1950 Merc Indy pace car) and 1 for a conv custom. I am pretty good cutting up bodies but I don't know about making a boot. LOL What do you mean by delaminate the tissue. Peel apart like toilet paper ? (split in half). I think your saying, thin coat of glue, lay tissue over top of it,work it down flat, let it absorb the glue, then let it dry, then paint.Does that sound right. What glue, besides epoxy I also have a thinner wood glue - and elmers would probably not stick well enough however. I looked in my Modelhaus catalog - they don't have one either. They do have a 50 Merc dash. Tried my Indy pace 1955 Chevy and 1964 Mustang - no go. I could modify anything (I think) but I want to start with something close. The Merc is to wide for all that I tried. -
I know there are no 49 merc convertible kits, so I am building one. I've tried the 50 ford, 53 ford (lindberg) and old 48 Ford Testors. That was all the boots I had. Is there something else close enough to make work by modifying. Anyone tried a 51 Chevy boot, I don"t have one. Any ideas ????????????????

Bought my Airbrush! But....
WoodyRDC replied to jayhkr's topic in General Automotive Talk (Trucks and Cars)
The needles are very different, #1 is very slender for control and thin paint -- #3 is less slender for normal every day use -- #5 is like a blunt edge (lol) for thick paint Do you have 3 diff ones or are some identical -
What shall we build today ?

Having being a Supervisor at the Truck & Bus Plant here in Dayton, Ohio where the S10 Truck was originally built and then the Blazer I have spent many days in current era Assembly plants. Seeing this old footage was inspiring. The clean floors and teamwork were great. If you have never been in an ass,y plant it is well worth it to go to an open house some time. The cars looked like Fords but I think they were overseas cars. What were they????? -
Welcome - Im in Dayton just north of ya. I build Pre-war Fords and a few others.

I havent left a comment on every thread but I want to how great a job everyone has done. I hope this contest has been recieved well by Revell and they get more entries than they thought. Maybe they can do another next year. Again Kudos to all that entered -- we know how much work was put in by everyone !!!!!!!

I just started a 60 Starliner to use on my 64 Galaxie body. I am tring to build the 64 to look like my first car and put air shocks on the back to raise it up. I ran into 2 small problems - I bought the Purple starliner kit and it cames with lake pipes and no stock exaust and mufflers -also it has Traction bars built into the rear shock mounts. I dont need the traction bars but I want the stock shock mounts and want stock exaust. I looked at the kit instructions and notice than these pieces came as options on the various 3 Starliner kits from AMT. Please if anyone has these pieces left-over I sure could use them. I will trade the brand new Starliner body and chrome parts with new glass for them. Sorry to hi-jack yuor thread but I hoped any Starliner lookers may have these parts.

Best place to buy kits?
WoodyRDC replied to Pastor Plastic's topic in General Automotive Talk (Trucks and Cars)
As said before I like the 'out of production" kits so Evilbay works for me. I just joined a Model club and have been to 3 contests. I am really liking buying from those vendors - Great guys and Its great getting to meet and talk about kits - most are a wealth of knowledge. I am really thinking that this will be new source of kits. Its a lot more fun than getting beat out on your bid !!!!!!!. So far I am finding any kit that I would want and usually for less than 15.00 and no shipping --- LOL. -
1964 Ford Galaxie paint question
WoodyRDC replied to WoodyRDC's topic in Model Building Questions and Answers
Thanks for the help guys. I got my interest up real high after posting so I cleaned off my bench and started sizing up and sanding all the pieces today. My olds Fords will just have to wait till another day. -
MY first car in 1973 was a 64 Galaxie. As we all know the only complete kit is a little to pricey for me and hard to find. So I have settled on the AMT Pro Shop curbside kit. But is is all wrong for my old car. It has bucket front seat and mine was a bench. I also has the wrong chrome side trim molded into the body. I hate the one piece chassis plate cause mine had air shocks and shackels and I could not easily lift the rear of solid chassis. So I went ahead and got a 60 Starliner kit to put the 64 body it. This way I can lift the rear with a real rearend assembly. And the Starliner came with a bech seat. In fact I hope to use all the Starliner interior with my 64 dash. I know its not same but it will close enough. Anyway the body moldings are not a problem I will just remove the insignas I dont need. Paint color is what I am a little worried about. My car was what I called tourqoise blue. In spray cans what wold be the closest in matching. I could pobably get a match at MCM but I hoping to go with Tamiya or Testors. I am yet to start this car I am just getting all the pieces together. I cant decide weather to cut the hood out or leave it curbside, There was nothing special about my real car except chrome air cleaner -- LOL and the Cragers all around. I have been busy with my 30,s Fords and just finished my Revell contest car
