  1. Constructive criticizism is always welcome! I did mess up the headlights, I was useing regular model glue then. I've since been using Micro Kristal Klear for windows and headlights and the difference is amazing! Good call on the exhaust as well. My next purchase is a pin vise and set of bits.
  2. This was my first "getting back in the hobby" build. I was pretty happy with the way it turned out. Just looking at these pictures now I realized I forgot to put the mirror on! (edit: now fixed, new photos)
  3. So I haven't posted in awhile, didn't get any modeling done over the summer. I finished this model a few months ago. I still need to add the little padlock on the driver's door.
  4. Brilliant! I wouldn't have thought of that. Thank you very much for your quick response.
  5. Awesome job!! I love it!. How did you do the chrome trim around the front and rear windows to get that raised look? On my kit there is no molded in trim, its just flat to the edge of the window.
  6. Wow fantastic job! It gives me inspiration for the mini i'm building.
  7. So I got some more work done. I forgot to cut the mold lines off the tires They're gonna be hard to do now I did the floor with this surgical tape I found. I painted it flat black after I laid it out. I'm pretty happy with the way it turned out. The thing with this close up photography is I can see how much more practice I need at modeling and painting ...and the mock up.
  8. I'm loving this build. Can't wait to see the finished results!
  9. That is awesome! I have to get one of those kits.
  10. Great Job! I love that glossy red... and the lowered stance makes it look really good. I'm working on one of these too. I've been waiting for 3 weeks for the paint to gas out so I can clear coat it. This coming Saturday will have been a month so I'm going to finish it then.
  11. Hey folks. I got some more work done. I managed to get the body primed. I'm in the process of sanding it now. I masked the gas caps, door handle holes and the INCREDIBLY small raised lettering on the trunk before I primed it. I'm going to try the technique where you use the bare metal foil then paint over it and gently sand off the paint exposing the BMF lettering. While the primer was drying I started painting and assembling the engine. What an odd little motor. I wish I had seen that kit before I bought this one. I don't want to buy another kit just for the wheels
  12. I was thinking about not glueing the steering wheel on so it can come on and off. I'm also makeing a little padlock for the driver's door. And if I get REALLY ambitious I might add the armchair that goes on the roof.
  13. So I was at the local hobby shop today and this kit caught my eye. I had to have it. I'm going to do it up like Mr. Bean's car. I know his was a Mk. 2 Mini but this kit was the only one they had. I'll have to shave off the door hinges to make it look like a Mk. 2 After sanding some mold lines off; Mk. 1 door hinges... gotta go! bye bye hinges... hello Mk. 2! I'll keep updates as I go.
  14. Thanks for the comments guys! This seems like a very active forum with alot of combined knowledge to soak up. I'll definitely be sticking around. I can't wait to finish this model and start the next one. I've been leaning towards the 65' Chevy stepside truck by Revell that caught my eye in the LHS Juergen; Very nice job on your Chevelle. I really like your false perspective photos, it makes it look like a real car!
  15. So I was in a local hobby shop one day not long ago, looking at R/C car kits I couldn't afford, when my eye caught the wall of plastic car models. I was surprised by the number of models available. I had thought they had fallen out of popularity since I don't see them in department stores anymore. I promptly purchased the MPC General Lee kit, (it was much more affordable than the R/C buggy kit I was looking at) and headed for home trying to remember the few models I had done as a kid. I hastily assembled that kit in 2 days, giving up near the end because the pieces just didn't fit right. I passed it off as 1 part poor quality kit, 1 part poor workmanship on my part. I resolved to do a much better job on the next. I did a fair bit of research in the internet, (quality manufacturers, building tips and techniques, etc..) and back to the hobby store I went. This 67' Chevelle caught my eye. I didn't like the red paint on the the box pic so i went with Tamiya metallic blue spray bomb. I've really taken my time with this one, trying to make it as nice as I can. Still have a little work to do yet. I'm waiting for the paint to gas out before i clear coat. I'll post some more pics when its done.
  16. Sweet job on the engine detail. I've just gotten into model cars as of late and I also hope to achieve that level of detail and cleanliness someday.
