  1. I'm glad i don't do all my business from memory i thought your order was from this weekend. Anyhow. It's great that everyone has been liking the parts. I can continue expanding the selection. I try to ship quickly. Domestic Photoetch-only orders almost always will ship next business day. Canadian/Foreign orders can take an extra day or to as I have to actually go to the post office for customs forms. Resin orders are delayed as i'm setting up new equipment, but i'll soon have a nice stock of resin parts so they'll be shipping next day as well.
  2. Thanks for the compliments, I shipped all the orders i received this weekend today, so expect it to arrive late this week. I wouldn't mind doing a promod full chassis plans. Though it likely won't be for a while.. 2012 sometime. I've a similar request for a sprint car. For the next few months i'm going to be concentrating on getting a few models together for NNL West 2012. I really want a dirt car or two into a modeling magazine. My top priority is moving dirt race car modeling more into the mainstream, instead of just junk box builds that are the norm.
  3. I think we'll be in good shape. The only areas we share would be the 4-link suspension mounts. Ours look sufficiently different to give the customers a choice for a different look. The main area i'll be in will be wheels and beadlocks, and I won't be doing any resin stuff that i know of besides the wheel rims.
  4. First thing i had to do was remove the old rear end, and replace it with a newer one. The newer version uses metal pins to hold the lift bar mounts in place for strength. I swapped the birdcages from the old rear end to the new. Then i built a new set of Wide-5 Hubs. These are still rough, the resin 'caps' are epoxied into place, the 'lugs' will be trimmed later. I keep them long so i can hold them while painting and priming. Next up was a new set of brake calipers. Still need to be cleaned up and ready for prime and paint with Alclad Chrome.
  5. This car has been sitting in a case for a couple years now, but I want to actually build something for me for a change. So i'm going to try to get this and a couple other cars done in time for NNL 2012. This car is going to take some work. It was an early prototype that i used to test parts and work some things out. A lot of parts are going to have to be replaced throughout.. but it's a start.
  6. I did Metalizer Burnt Exaust over aluminum.. though i don't remember if it was Alclad or Metallizer Aluminum. I just used something sharp to 'scratch' the weld joints, for an acceptable look without too much difficulty. My pipes are a 'bit different then most make them though. I use soldered brass rod rather then plastic or lead solder as the basis. I anneal the brass with a propane torch beforehand to make it easier to bend. I don't do the cool blue petina on the pipes.. because dirt car headers are usually caked with mud and dust, and look old and rusty, rather then the nice bluish pipes on the pavement cars.
  7. Try www.specialshapes.com too. I use them all the time, and IIRC they have lower prices. Special Shapes is actually K&N Brass, they are just selling brass parts that aren't in the 'metal centers' you see in hobby shops. Only thing i don't like about special shapes is you have to call to order.. they don't have online ordering. But when you buy brass in the hundreds of feet at a time.. it's not too bad to call them every year or two
  8. I'd like to do some more items in the drag racing market, without stepping on anyone's toes. My specialty is photoetching, so i'd like to try to stick to that. I try not to venture too far into the resin stuff, unless it's something that supports my PE work (like resin wheel rims for the PE centers). What strikes me off the bat as some things i'd like to do would be some wheel options, and definitely the weld 'scalloped' drag beadlock. I'm certain i could nail them. Anyway, i like this topic and hope it continues. I'd like to read more drag racing wants, as well as which manufacturers make which products so i'll know what products to focus on, and which i should steer clear of. My development cycle is only about 2 months from concept to first part in the hands of a customer (very rapid), so the more information and requests i can get, the better.
  9. Thanks all. I am going to be taking up the mantle for drag racing wheels in the near future, since they are similar in construction to the way i do the sprint car wheels i already offer. The dimensions and wheel center patterns will be different, but the overall concept is the same. I'll keep everyone posted as the designing gets underway.
