The promos are usually less expensive than the kits and more common.

I had second thoughts about doing the whole roof in gold, that's a lot of gold. Maybe just the ribbed area? Still lots of gold, and not custom enough. So naturally, that leaves scallops.
After a few experimental layouts, I decided on roof-length spikes on the sides, and two spikes in the middle to frame the beacon.
I was considering some on the sides, but that might be a little much with the chrome, lettering, and emblems. This seems like it should be enough.

Both of them look great, and both look completely plausible as functional water craft. Seeing that Corvair on the lake would be a real mind blower for sure, and it's amazing just how well the Studebaker roof lends itself to the boat style.

Very, very sharp build, and great engineering on the conversion.

Great job, restorations of rare '60s kits never get old. I restored one of these too, around 30 years ago. It remains the best proportioned '68 Fastback body.

This car is mostly finalized, so here's an abbreviated build thread.
Upcoming club theme - fire apparatus. I've never built anything fire related. But that's what the build themes are for, to get you to do something different. Many, many years ago, (like 25 plus) I got a '59 Ford wagon promo interior and window glass from another club member. It hung around for a long time, until one day I bought a resin Jimmy Flintstone wagon body and bumpers on ebay. And that's as far as it got. Fast forward 5-6 years later, and wondering what to do for the fire theme, it hit me - this car as a rat rod, maybe with a Tasmanian Devil fire man theme. The wheels were going to be resin open steelies, but the decision was made to use the Pegasus Astro Supremes, which automatically turn it into a lowrider. A Revell '57 Ranchero built-up parts car was used for the chassis and engine, or what can be seen of it as the hood doesn't open. I shaved a whole bunch off the top of the chassis to clear the interior tub.
The first mock-up, almost all the lights and fire gear are from the parts box.
Needs a tube grille, so I cut the stock mesh out, glued in a sheet styrene backer, and used Evergreen half round for the grille bars. I will get the bumpers chromed.
In primer after the first round of body work.

What airbags are you referring to? I don't see them mentioned.
Sure would have been nice to get those Delta 88s!
There was another one that showed the mid '70s GM airbag steering wheel on a full size (probably) Oldsmobile, and it touted a working airbag that deployed when the front bumper was pushed in, pressurizing a vinyl tube that led to the air bag. Pure fan fiction. I thought I posted it up with the other fantasy sheets, but I didn't - and now I can't seem to find it. But if I do, I'll put it up there in the original post to add to the collection.

I'm not sure if all of these are real or a bit altered, as some of the cars were obviously never kitted. And that airbag idea is nuts. Fun to look at either way.

Flowtech part# 12542FLT, or 32542FLT for ceramic coated.

Just now saw this, fantastic replica of a very unique Bronco. Love the graphics and the round headlight conversion, among all the other touches.

Very nice, well thought out street machine. Nice finish with the Testors enamel, a notoriously hard color to get good and even coverage with.

I always liked the look of this kit, even with the way-wrong fender flares and undersized wheels and tires. I forgot how plain the engine bay was, but that was just the Revell way in the late '70s.

Thanks gentlemen, that didn't take long and I didn't think it would. A friend's 2 year old really wanted it, but it is a bit delicate for a toddler so he had to handle the crushing disappointment. Life kinda blows sometimes.

Coolest build I've ever seen of that kit, original, clean, and well executed. Didn't know that R/C parts like that existed.

I have a siren from a Johan police car, and it will play prominently in this build. Interesting idea on the gold in the side trim, I might have to experiment with that. Masking tape on BMF usually doesn't end well, so it would have to be hand applied. Maybe a gold ink pen would work.
