  1. "Well, sir, it's this rug I had. It really tied the room together." "Look, let me explain something to you. I'm not Mr. Lebowski. You're Mr. Lebowski. I'm the Dude. So that's what you call me. That, or His Dudeness … Duder … or El Duderino, if, you know, you're not into the whole brevity thing."
  2. Nothing whatsoever. I just find this place vastly amusing, in a Pavlovian way, as I mentioned.
  3. "Dude"!?! Oh man that's funny. The quotes around my name indicate that you, like that other person think that I'm someone else. I can assure you that I have been Bob Turner for all 54 years of my life. Well, if you really want to get technical, my given name is "Robert", but I've always been called & gone by "Bob". That clear things up for you sport? Hey, I figure if you can refer to me as "dude" I'd return the favor & refer to you as "sport". It could even be our "thing". like an inside reference, you know?
  4. That is clear. The connection it has to your original comments is somewhat tenuous, but hey, whatever spin helps you to sleep at night. "Fair" & "balanced" here, remember? No bias whatsoever........
  5. I'm going to try & explain this to you. Do try to follow along: Now, in your third sentence, you extolled the "freedom" to post, (as long as the forum rules are followed), to one's hearts content. Then you turn around & say that if someone dislikes a post made by another & expresses that dislike, then they have the option of ignoring said person/posts or of joining another forum. Now, as long as the person expressing the differeing opinion does so within the forum rules, then why must they merely ignore the other person? See the contradiction? Some people can say & do as they like & never get called on it, Let someone post a differing opinion from that "chosen few", & you tell them to ignore things &/or move on to another forum. Nope, no bias here..........
  6. Not really. I look upon this forum as a sociological experiment more than anything else now, somewhat like Pavlov's dog. Ring the bell & salivation ensues. Oh I have a lot of fun with the hobby, moreso with those that take such comments so seriously.
  7. It's not that. I actually find it vastly amusing for the most part.
  8. Do tell, are you referring to this statement I made? "It's when you contradict yourself in the same post that confusion reigns." If so, you do realize that "it's" is a contraction of "it is" & therefore an apostrophe is correct grammar? Oh the irony indeed.......
  9. Oh, that explains so much about you young Andy. You have no idea how much it explains.
  10. No, my comprehension is excellent. It's when you contradict yourself in the same post that confusion reigns. Perhaps you might consider reading what you wrote again, then you might see what I mean.......
  11. Ever considering adopting that as your motto? It seems very apt.
  12. You were joking!?! Too bad. Now you'll never reach your possible potential, & will fall back into the morass of mediocrity. In case you missed it, in both this post & my prior one to you, I was being sarcastic. SInce you did obviously miss that, you might want to rethink missing the chance to join that gang. Engineering might be a wee bit beyond your grasp.
  13. That may be the most contradictory, convoluted attempt to backpedal & spin I've ever seen "moderator". Congratulations! I'm still winding my way through it's twists & turns.
  14. Well it's good that you're trying to better yourself. There's a lot of room for improvement there & you have the potential.
  15. Ah, a comment by young Andy, MCM's answer to a question nobody asked. Isn't it near your bedtime young Andy?
  16. So, let me get this straight; some people can post whatever they like, whenever they like, on anything that they like here, & others with a different opinion need to "move on"? Did I get it right? Nice to see that the "moderation" here is so "fair" & "balanced". Nope, no bias or favoritism shown here. Just for the record "moderator", before you take offense at my truthful comments, just remember that you can overlook them just as easily as you tell others to do with other posts they they dislike. Six of one, a half dozen of the other........ If you choose to reply to this post, that's your choice made freely by you. I, (nor anyone else), held a gun to your head & made you read it or reply to it. This post will be deleted by one of the "moderators" in 5....4....3....2....1....
  17. "I've had just about all the 'constructive criticism' I need lately. You don't like it here? Move on."

  18. "I've had just about all the 'constructive criticism' I need lately. You don't like it here? Move on."

  19. None actually, I was replying to & addressing Dave's post directly, not anyone else's, thus my quoting him to begin with. Many of the other repsonses against reading the instructions were glib, shallow attempts at humor, offering nothing of value to the discussion. I deliberately ignored those on principle, Other than referring to them in an offhanded fashion, though a different objective possibly could have been inferred from my initial post.
  20. <Sigh> You did read where I addressed something similar in my first reply to Andy, didn't you? To wit: "Even with as much scratch building & modification that I often do with a model, if it's based on a kit, I use the instructions as a guideline at the least. There's nothing worse than doing some extreme modification & discovering that the kit parts that you based it on were installed wrong, simply because you didn't look at the instructions." The principle that Dave covered in his initial post is the same, whether you build OOB, modify or scratch build, if you base any of it on a kit. That's where being at least familiar with the instructions is a good idea. If you choose to leave out needed parts, (excepting a curbside or slammer of course), that's your folly, not mine. Also, precision, (though I didn't even mention that), & logic is a cornerstone of rational thinking & a sign of a mature thought process.
  21. Perhaps you interpreted it or comprehended it incorrectly. I worded it very flatly, without attempting to insult anyone else that posted. A lot of times our attitudes towards others can color how we react to what they say, be it verbally or on the printed page, (albeit electronically in this case). In your case, you have an issue with me, (not saying anything either way about it, merely stating a fact, we aren't going to get along with everyone we meet), so you are likely more predisposed to read what I say differently than a post you don't agree with from someone that you get along with better.
  22. I thought you had me on ignore child, at least you said you did. Just can't resist seeing what I say & commenting on it can you? To make it simple enough so that even you can understand it, (oh faint hope therein), the reason I said Dave's post was the most logical is because he said more than "yes" or "no", he explained why reading & following the instructions is important, especially with an unfamiliar kit. There, did you understand that? Even with as much scratch building & modification that I often do with a model, if it's based on a kit, I use the instructions as a guideline at the least. There's nothing worse than doing some extreme modification & discovering that the kit parts that you based it on were installed wrong, simply because you didn't look at the instructions. Harry mentioned the complexity of Pocher kits, which I have never attempted, but I can say that many Tamiya kits, several Revell of Germany kits, & every Fujimi Enthusiast kit, (among many others), can't be built without following the instructions, at least not to any degree of quality. The Tamiya Ferrai Enzo & Ferrari XXX kits I've built have to be built by the instructions.
  23. Censored again. Par for the course here.

  24. Perhaps, no, strike that, certainly the most intelligent & logical repsonse in this thread. Those of you that can't grasp this need to reread Dave's post & apply it's principles in your model building.
  25. Eric, please don't ask him that!!! Besides all the attention he craves & seeks out by making endless useless posts about nothing of any consequence to any rational person, he would have to completely monopolize every section of the forum, (even more than he does now), to list &/or explain everything that's wrong with him. Given his penchant for shameless self promotion, I'm not sure there's enough memory on the entire internet to contain all of that other information you asked about.
