  1. It's never too late. I've been in and out of this hobby since I was a kid but most of what I would call skill has only come in the last few years. And I just completely screwed up my most recent paint job after several beautiful ones in a row. And what makes it worse is that I used all the same primer and paint as the last one. Stuff happens. Hang in there.

  2. We are in central California and at 11:00pm it's still 93 outside. We've been at 109 for the last couple days but at least we don't get high humidity. I work outside for ten hours a day so haven't gotten anything done on my models for over a week. The other problem is that while my workroom is our air conditioned spare bedroom, my paint room is the garage which is neither cooled nor insulated.

  3. I did up a nitrous bottle recently for my volksrod build from a plastic hanger. The hanger I used had a little hook on each side for dress straps or something. When I cut the hook off it was perfect. I drilled down from the rounded end and glued a small nail into the hole. Paint and a decal made from a web graphic did the rest

  4. I have been enjoying this thread a great deal. I just realized that it's coming up on twelve months since we started this topic and it was set to run a year. I'd vote to keeping it going indefinitely. I've got two more I'm pulling out of the boneyard right now.

  5. I think I started actually building models when I was about 9. I was in the model of the month club (was that Revell?) and signed up for cars, boats, planes, spaceships, whatever theyd send me. I do have a picture of me when I was about 4 or 5 with a black primer "hot-rodded" model someone had built for me. Think it was a Plymouth Duster which woulda been new since that was in 69 or 70.

  6. I just painted a Revell 1/24th Shelby Mustang GT350H and will be applying the decals soon. I remember the reviews on this kit indicating a problem getting the dual stripe to sit right over the hood and scoop. I'm debating if I should try the decal or just mask the stripes and paint it. Anyone out there had experience with this kit? I'd appreciate some feedback.

  7. Since we all have so much spare time and there aren't nearly enough CBPs I'm gonna propose another.

I'm calling it the "Odd Rods" because I'd like to push us all in a different direction. What im picturing are hot rod/muscle cars that are not what we normally think of. For this CBP I'm proposing that we skip the Camaros, Mustangs, Corvettes and duece coupes we all love and put something out of the norm onto the table. Maybe an Edsel gasser or a full blown Jaguar. How about a Mini Cooper with an LS engine (dont know if thats even doable) or maybe a Rat Rod made from a Duesenberg. Something different.

If there's enough interest then Ive got a BMW 635 sedan I've been thinking about doing up with a blown small block Chevy V8 with all the fixings. If not I'll put it in "on the workbench".

Let me know what you think
