  1. Yeah, the "main focus" here isn't necessarily NASCAR. But there really is no main focus...this site is open to all models. People post whatever they're interested in, and I've seen models of every conceivable type posted here. But NASCAR has it's own special section. Sure it was created recently, but the fact is, it's here! Doesn't that count for anything with you? Come on, man, there's a special NASCAR section here and you're still not happy? Post your next NASCAR build and I'll bet you'd get plenty of good responses, even from people who might not necessarily be into NASCAR. This place is for your models as much as anyone's.
  2. Ok... I e-read your post. You're right, you didn't say anything about NASCAR builders being bashed here. My mistake. But I don't think what you see in people's responses is about a lack of respect for NASCAR kits, though... I think it's a dislike for what NASCAR has become (not the kits, the real thing!) You also said this site isn't geared toward NASCAR builders, but it has a NASCAR section! (sorry to be so obvious there). If that's not geared toward NASCAR builders then what is???
  3. Dave, Dave, Dave... you're such a talented builder. If only you'd stop wasting your talent on those silly NASCAR models... (just kidding, man!)
  4. Dave, you're making the same mistake Jamie is making, A person doesn't have to like NASCAR in order to appreciate a well-done NASCAR model! A perfect example: me! I couldn't care less about NASCAR. Let's just say I'm not a fan and leave it at that. But my disinterest in NASCAR the "sport" has nothing to do with my interest in a well-built model of a NASCAR racer. In fact, your "Pirates of the Caribbean" model is a fantastic example of modeling skill and craftsmanship. I don't need to be a NASCAR fan to recognize that. Similarly, I couldn't care less about dirt track racing either, but again, that doesn't have anything to do with my appreciation for a well-done dirt track model! Don't equate a person"s dislike of NASCAR with a dislike of NASCAR models... it's NOT one and the same. You NASCAR builders need to keep on posting. Well-built models of ANY type are always welcome here...
  5. Yeah, good thing they got rid of that loser Favre, huh?
  6. That's a good looking model. Nice work.
  7. Actually, if you read the "lame" responses more carefully you'll see that nobody is bashing the NASCAR builders out there...they're down on NASCAR itself, for all the reasons stated. I don't think anyone here has ever bashed a fellow modeler who posted a NASCAR build here. NASCAR itself, yes... there are a lot of people who are fed up with NASCAR and what it has become. But nobody's bashing the people who like to build NASCAR models! If you don't want to post your models here because you think there's no interest, I'd say you're wrong. Obviously not everyone likes NASCAR models, but the fact is that there's a NASCAR section here... people who post and respond there are all obviously NASCAR modeling fans, wouldn't you think?

  9. Too cool! I love it! BTW... does the passenger seat flush???
  10. Peter, you're right, our government is a joke. Corruption and ineptness run rampant. Why just this morning, our fine governor was arrested by the FBI and charged with all sorts of shady dealings... he joins the Honor Roll of corrupt Illinois governors that either have, or will, spend quality time behind bars: Otto Kerner, Dan Walker, George Ryan and now Rod Blagojevich. And that's just in my lifetime!!! And that's just one state! The feds are as bad, if not worse, than the state governments. Makes me want to pack it up and move somewhere else sometimes...
  11. Ha ha! Chris Dodd says you shouldn't throw money down a bottomless pit? What about the Wall St. bailout? Did he see the bottom of that pit???
  12. So... I assume you don't like football???
  13. Does Dave in the UK listen to "Zed Zed Top"???
  14. Dave is from the UK... we say "Z', they say "zed".
  15. Absolutely. Today's NASCAR has absolutely no connection to "real" cars in any way. The whole thing has morphed into an unrecognizable version of what NASCAR was in the 50s, 60s and 70s. Today it's just a blatant, in-your-face money making corporation. They might as well be "racing" mechanical rabbits around a track! Now every car looks the same (if you can actually see it under the dozens of advertising logos plastered on every square inch of the body!), all the drivers are interchangeable, etc. Borrrrrrrrrring! NASCAR was cool back when you could cheer for a Ford, a Chevy, a Mercury, A Dodge or Plymouth, or even a Hudson to win the race. And the cars you cheered for actually were Fords, Chevies, Plymouths, etc., for the most part. Who the heck do you root for now? "Go, 'car of tomorrow""??? Bleccchh...
  16. Gee, with the loss of kitmaker licensing revenues, I hope NASCAR doesn't need a government bailout now!!!
  17. The greed machine strikes again! With the bazillions of dollars NASCAR already rakes in (after all, every car and every driver is nothing more than an advertising billboard), did they really have to squeeze the kitmakers for every last dime they possibly could? I was never a fan of NASCAR and it's money-grubbing ways, but now I feel even more justified in ignoring their product entirely. NASCAR? What's that?
  18. Or maybe I only want you to THINK that I'm manipulating you... in which case I am!!! It's like that episode of "Friends" where Joey and Phoebe didn't know that Monica and Rachel knew that they knew that they didn't know...
  19. Real or model? The answer: REAL!
  20. Building a vehicle that gets great mileage (50mpg+) is fairly easy... in a controlled lab testing environment! Building a vehicle that gets great mileage PLUS has acceptable acceleration, room to seat 4-5 adults, the ability to carry several hundred pounds of luggage, meets all federal crash and safety standards and can be sold at a price point that is both profitable for the manufacturer and affordable by the general public isn't quite so easy! Think about it: Why would anyone who actually had a 100 mpg car be sitting on that type of technology??? They wouldn't! They'd put it on the market RIGHT NOW and make a fortune! It would revolutionize the auto industry. To think that such a car exists, or can already be built but is somehow being kept hidden or secret, is just silly. There are probably some very fuel-efficient project programs going on in the auto industry, but obviously nobody has yet perfected the 100mpg car, because if they had, it would be on sale to the public right now!
  21. Yes, but he rarely ever posts.
  22. I've searched and searched... seems that NBC has removed all videos of this skit from the internet. Too "controversial"? Anyway, I finally found it. Check it out while you can (if it wasn't so true it would be funny!) I make no comments or endorsements other than "it's pretty funny"... http://www.ridelust.com/video-snl-parodies...-impersonation/
  23. "Pledge with Future Shine" is Future. For some reason they changed the name.
