Like they say in Crook County... vote early and vote often!
-
No. That would be quite an accomplishment in 1/16 scale!

Got the landau bars installed... You can also see the little latch button on the edge of the open door.. in line with the door handle That little button fits into a corresponding hole in the door jamb to keep the door shut tightly.

Still to come. I'm not quite finished yet...

I cut off the molded-in handles on the hood sides and made new ones out of silver wire.

MCM Forum - expert work expected?

Great suggestions! -
Glenn... with a Pocher, sometimes the hardest part is getting the body panels to fit correctly.
-
Yes, that's the latest. The next one will be the 2015 edition.

I was going to do dovetail joints, but in 1/16 scale it would just have been showing off... Up top? Are you kidding? And hide all the work I've done on the interior? No way, José...

I'm confused. What is this thread about?

What did you see on the road today?
Harry P. replied to Harry P.'s topic in General Automotive Talk (Trucks and Cars)
I saw an Avanti in of all places, the parking lot at the supermarket! I don't think I've ever seen an Avanti in "real life" before... only at the auto show. It was gray. Not metallic, not silver... just plain old gray. Battleship gray. With black wheels. -

Way to go, Rich. Seeing a problem and going back and making it right. Beautiful model. BTW... are those snaps on the boot photoetched pieces? -

Exactly. -
If effort and skill were added in, it would weigh a lot more! Very impressive work, to say the least. I have never seen better scratchbuilding.

I built a wooden storage locker to fit behind the seats. This will hide more of that carpet, Cato...
-
The problem I had was that the side glass was too vertical and didn't match the angle of the windshield posts.
-
The carpet looks ok in real life. The camera really emphasizes the texture a lot; it doesn't look too bad in reality. Not perfect, and I probably would have gone a different way if I had it to do over again. But it's passable. Really, the camera sees it differently that it looks to the human eye. In fact, when I look at the photos, I see "flaws" that I literally can't see with my own eyes. The camera doesn't miss a thing!

And today are nothing but a memory. Mail order used to be the "future" of retailing. It was a completely new way of doing business back in the day when it first came along. Nobody had done retail that way before. Now it's dead. Now we buy online. The "catalogs" are websites. For now that's the way we shop... more and more every year, until the next new way of doing things come along. Times change. Technologies change. Ways of doing business change. We download music now. And TV/movies. And books. Fifty years ago, who would have thought that we would one day be getting our music not on vinyl discs, but through the air on something called the "internet." And we wouldn't play our music on a record player, but on a gizmo called an "ipod'" We would have been told we were crazy! We'll be downloading e-kits soon. No "learning curve" necessary, any more than a "learning curve" to download mp3 files. There is no learning curve, because you're not creating the e-kit. The manufacturer has created it... all you're doing is downloading it and outputting the pieces. Download to your desktop. Click on the icon. Hit "Print" and out come the pieces. Open the included PDF instruction sheet file and start building.
-
There's a driver side spotlight/rear view mirror that's supposed to be attached to the left side windshield post. The chrome on the kit spotlight is messed up... I'll have to see if I can find something similar to replace it with.
-
And the relevance of what it weighs is...? Just wondering. I never heard of anyone weighing a model and reporting on that.

And then there those that say exactly the opposite, that too many guys post too many harsh criticisms. Which proves the fact that you can't please everyone no matter what you do. So what we try to do here is be the best model car forum, and let others decide for themselves whether they want to be a part of it or not. We can't force anyone to have any particular opinion of us... everyone is going to form their own opinion. The problem happens when people go around badmouthing this place because they have a personal axe to grind with someone here, or they've gotten criticisms of their models. In other words, it's not an accurate judgement of this forum as a whole. Some guys who are not very good builders may feel like this forum is too hard on others, or that we don't like models that don't pass some sort of unwritten test. That's BS. We welcome all builders at all skill levels... but it's a two-way street: We welcome everyone, regardless of talent or skill level, to post their work here. But you have to remember that by posting your work here, it's only fair to allow the other members to comment on that work. You can't post your work here and then expect to have some sort of gag order enforced where we only allow attaboys and "nice build, dude" comments. Not going to happen. This is an open forum, opinion-wise. If you want only pats on the back, maybe this isn't the forum for you. But if you value other people's input and suggestions and knowledge, and you want to grow and learn and get better as a modeler, then this is the place to be. -
No, but it's just about exactly the same.

No way he's going to tear up a finished model and do that. And it can't be done with the radiator in place. He's just going to have to live with it as is.
