  1. So a rare or valuable matchbook cover would be worth about the same as the same matchbook with all the matches still in it? I know that with stamp collecting, most stamps are worth a lot more if they are unused vs. used... so maybe matches/no matches also affects value? BTW... those bowling ball matches are pretty cool. I found this online... pretty interesting: http://www.titanicitems.com/matchbooks.htm
  2. The Charger should have been a coupe, if they also wanted a four-door to compete with their rivals, they should have called it a Monaco or something.
  3. Morons do these stupid stunts and post them online. Then the videos get millions of hits. So not only do we have plenty of people who do stupid things, we have plenty of people who watch people do stupid things and consider it to be "entertainment." That's the state of our society today. Idiocy is entertainment.
  4. That's what the new Charger should have looked like in the first place. Not the four-door brick they foisted on us.
  5. I just saw a story on TV about the latest youtube craze... kids pouring lighter fluid or nail polish remover (acetone) on themselves and lighting themselves on fire. No kidding. The explanation from a girl who did it and got 2nd degree burns over 30% of her body: she never saw anyone who did it die from it. The future of our country. God help us.
  6. Never underestimate the stupidity of the American public.
  7. I can second that. In fact, if the people responsible for the design of that monstrosity didn't immediately lose their jobs, then GM needs to rethink the operation of their styling studio...
  8. Possible stupid question... but wouldn't matchbooks be collected with the matches still in there? Aren't they more "collectible" if they are intact? Just wondering, as I know zero about collecting matchbooks. BTW... that "trick" with the Pep Boys matchbook is hilarious. Reminds me of a similar trick you can do with a package of Land-O-Lakes butter with the Indian maiden on it... (google it)...
  9. Amazing, isn't it, how many cars came with that "mascot and badge blackout" package...
  10. Agreed. "Conservative" describes it well. I mean, how much more conservative can you get than a color scheme consisting of two shades of gray?
  11. Either that, or completely unaware that this site has a search function. Speaking of unaware... I've had people PM me in amazement that we have a "Big Boyz" section... they had never scrolled down the page far enough! Sort of like a person who opens a newspaper and is amazed that there's more to it than just the front page!
  12. Because pinned topics don't work. People don't pay attention. We have a lot of pinned topics in many areas of the forum, yet people keep on asking the same thing, or posting the same thing, over and over again... because they don't pay any attention to pinned topics. I can pin topics, but I can't make you guys pay attention. If I pinned this, I guarantee you someone will start yet another "I wish they make a kit of..." topic. Guaranteed.
  13. Point 1: Why do we need two different threads going that are the same exact topic? Point 2: We don't. That's why I locked it. Point 3: If you find these wish list threads so entertaining, fine. You have this one to post in, and the locked one to read. I locked it, I didn't delete it. You can keep on reading it as often as you like, if that's what you want. You can even save it to your computer and keep it forever.
  14. That's one thread. Just because people keep it alive is no reason to lock it. We have several "I wish they would make a kit of this" threads... all the same identical topic. It's silly to keep them all open. There's a difference between one topic that lives on and several topics on the same exact subject.
  15. How many "wish lists" do we need, anyway? They're all the same, no need to have several different ones running at the same time.
  16. The Off-Topic Lounge Musings, thoughts and comments on anything EXCEPT politics or religion! Come on, Rich. You know that if I left your comment up, it would turn into chaos in about five posts. If you want to talk about politics or religion, there are plenty of places for that, like Facebook or Twitter, for instance.
  17. The October 2014 issue of Hemmings Classic Car has an article on collectible ceramic ashtrays with automotive images on them.
  18. Right... as the number of people who actually still smoked dried up.
  19. Another wish list? Seriously?
  20. Clever!
  21. Hasn't this topic been covered in like a gazillion other threads already?
  22. Just about any software program lets you size images. Just open a new file in the program of your choice (Phoroshop, Paintshop Pro, Illustrator, InDesign, Word... whatever) at letter size, import the image, and use the rulers in the program as a guide to scale the image to the size you want it to print (by dragging the corner of the image or the image bounding box). You can fit several images onto the page... do one as close to the size you want as possible, then just to cover yourself, add several more, a few slightly smaller and a few slightly bigger... and print. One of them will undoubtedly be just the right size.
  23. In my defense... in Illinois, "mountains" are things we've only read about or seen in pictures...
  24. I guess you're right. It's easy to forget, living where I do, that there are still large areas of the country that are almost uninhabited. But still seriously surprised that even in the most remote place in the country you can't pick up at least a handful of signals. Maybe I'm just too "citified"...
