  1. What is wrong with you truck guys? Does every topic have to degenerate into silly name calling? My god, you'd think you truck guys were all 12 years old or something. I am so tired of getting reports in my in box about all these truck threads gone bad. I'm not going to waste my time babysitting you guys and going through this whole thread post by post. I have better things to do. What I will say is that if this sort of infantile behavior keeps up in the Trucks section, I'm going to start locking individual members out. Either you act like adults, or you don't get to take part. Period.
  2. Ok, professor. I wasn't clear enough. Osmosis doesn't apply to humans as far as learning or education. It's a biochemical process that has no connection to human learning, Nothing can be learned "by osmosis" any more than you can learn about a subject by sleeping with the textbook under your pillow.
  3. The moderators can't possibly see every post. So why not act like grownups and do a little "self-policing" and stick to the topic being discussed and not veer off into personal attacks or comments about the moderators? And BTW... I don't see where you get the idea that only a "select few" are allowed to speak. That's nonsense, plain and simple. Everyone who is a member of this site has the same right to speak. There are no "select few."
  4. How much you learn depends on you, but even the densest lamebrain will learn something by going to school. It's impossible to go to school day after day and not learn something. And what does osmosis have to do with learning? Of course learning doesn't work by osmosis. Osmosis has absolutely nothing to do with learning, it's a totally unrelated process that doesn't even apply to humans.
  5. That makes no sense. Of course going to school educates you. That's the whole point of going to school... to get an education.
  6. I'll second that.
  7. Boy, did it ever.
  8. Skip, I know you know this, but just in general for the masses ... once an item attains a certain level of collectibility, whether it's a car or a painting or a rare stamp or whatever... once that item gets into the stratosphere of price, it's no longer a matter of "what it's worth," it's a matter of how much a given collector is willing to pay to own it. And the "more money than sense" argument doesn't wash. With items like this, no matter what you pay for it, odds are you can turn around and resell it for a profit. Every sale sets a price precedent. And the moneyed set knows that. Believe me, these gazillionaires aren't stupid... they have plenty of sense. That's why they're gazillionaires in the first place (unless like Paris Hilton, they inherited their money)...
  9. I would love to pull into the local Jiffy Lube with one of these... just to see the reaction. What are the odds they'd have the correct filter in stock?
  10. I guess you could consider it a very upscale "mobile home"...
  11. Heck, I'd loan you the money in that case! At a "competitive" rate.
  12. Until you buy a house. And by the way, when you apply for a mortgage, they check your credit score. The lower your score, the higher an interest rate you'll pay. A low enough score and you won't even get a mortgage, period.
  13. What is this crazy "living within our means" nonsense? Are you in some sort of cult???
  14. But you still have a credit score. An old one... but it's still out there.
  15. Austin, if Danno's wise-guy remark caused you any emotional instability, I'd sue. I can recommend a really sharp outfit... the law firm of Dewey, Cheatem, and Howe. Just call BR-549 and tell them I sent you...
  16. Everyone has a credit score, unless every purchase you ever made in your entire life was with cash. If you've ever used a credit card, you have a credit score. If you have a mortgage, you have a credit score.
  17. LeSabre, Lucerne, and LaCrosse. And don't forget LeMans, LeCar, and LaSalle... or Patti LuPone... or the Man of LaMancha...
  18. That's pretty much it. You can spray one or two colors on the surface of the water, but obviously this is a completely hit-or-miss process... there's no way to really control what you get. Even if you see a cool looking swirl pattern in the paint, when that paint transfers to the 3-dimensional body, it will change. In most cases what you get is just a drab, dull mess. But you can get lucky and get some cool effects. Just not usually...
  19. Mathematics is the overall "umbrella." Arithmetic is just one branch of math. Mathematics is theory, arithmetic is numbers... addition, subtraction, dividing and multiplying.
  20. The tag says "Topic hidden by Gregg yesterday, 2:33 PM. No reason given."
  21. Why are you asking me that? Must have been Gregg, I guess he figured no point in keeping a locked thread up.
  22. I deleted that because I got tired of editing out all the personal attacks posted by people against each other. The thread had deteriorated into a playground shouting match and I just got tired of babysitting you guys.
