I like Humbrol paints for doing small details. The little "tin can" lid can never get stuck like the Testors bottles can! A small screwdriver to pry it off, and you're good to go.

True. But when it hits you in big chunks like that, it's really apparent. It's like a person who only buys a car every ten years and doesn't really pay attention in the meantime... so when he goes car shopping, the cars all cost 50% more than they cost the last time he bought one. I wonder what the stuff will be going for the next time I need some? Should I start saving up now so I can afford the next can?

It's 1/8 scale, so that might explain it.

Frustration Day, Part II: Call me crazy, but I was determined to accomplish something today... so I actually went back to HobbyTown later, after they had opened, to get the metalizers that I had passed on at Hobby Lobby earlier because I thought maybe HT would have better prices. Guess what? HT doesn't carry metalizer sprays! The guy there said I was the only person who had ever asked for metalizer spray. I find that hard to believe. And I find it even harder to believe that a hobby shop doesn't carry the stuff. Yeah baby!

I know stuff in general is going up everywhere, but seriously! Last time I bought a can of metalizer (just a few months ago), it was $4 or so. A 50% price hike?!!!

So first I go to Hobby Lobby to pick up some Testors Metalizer spray. $6.19 a can! Six freakin' bucks for a 3-ounce can of paint? Oh well, it is what it is, so I buy only one can. I figure Hobbytown USA will have better prices, and they're directly on my way back home. So I pull into the lot and see they're closed! They don't open until 11 AM?!!! Didn't know that! Ok, no metalizer for me. Next item needed, Bondo 2-part glazing putty. I stop off at the home center store, again, right on my route home. I go to the automotive section where I always get it. Guess which one single item was out of stock? Not the novelty air fresheners (plenty of those)... not the fuzzy dice... no, only Bondo 2-part glazing putty is out of stock. Ok, no Bondo for me. But wait... there's a Walmart across the street. So off I go, doing the usual Walmart "no parking spaces to be found within a quarter mile of the building" thing. Finally find one, trek to the store, over to the auto section, to the body repair stuff. No Bondo. I ask one of the mopes that work there where the Bondo is. He says only "select" Walmarts carry Bondo products, and this Walmart isn't one of them. Ok, again, no Bondo for me. Now it's getting along towards lunch time, so I figure I can salvage my trip by making at least one successful stop... so I hit my favorite Chinese takeout place for lunch. They were closed. So what did I actually accomplish? I wasted two hours, and burned about ten bucks worth of gas. Some days it's not even worth getting out of bed...

OK... it's been a while since I needed some Testors Metalizer spray paint (I don't use "model paint" in general, I use Duplicolor, Krylon, etc.)... but Testors Metalizer is the only metalizer spray paint that I know of, so off to Hobby Lobby. $6.19 a can???!!!! $6.19? For a tiny 3-ounce can of spray paint? Holy crap! Luckily I had my 40% off coupon. Sheesh... at this rate we're all gonna go broke in this hobby.
