  1. Do you know there are websites that will "snipe" for you down to the last millisecond?
  2. She claims that her car never got more than 40-42 mpg at best. That's pretty far away from Honda's claim of 50 mpg. Peters, a former lawyer, told the court that "the car never got more than 41 or 42 even on its very best day," and said the fuel economy dropped to below 30 mpg after a software update intended to extend battery life and improve performance.
  3. But you can BE a lawyer and file a claim in small claims court...
  4. The fact that this woman is apparently a pretty sharp lawyer doesn't change the facts of the case. She presented her case, and the judge saw things her way. Yes, she specifically opted out of the class-action suit and took on Honda in small claims court. She knew what she was doing and why. Obviously Honda will appeal and spend millions to save a few thousand. And if they win the appeal, this all goes away. But if they lose the appeal... who knows how things go in that case? Remember, this woman isn't the only sharp lawyer out there...
  5. I just heard on the news that a woman sued Honda, claiming her 2006 Civic got far less than the 50 mpg that Honda apparently claimed it would get. Now I know that EPA mileage estimates are just that: estimates, and "your actual mileage may vary"... etc. But the woman apparently sued Honda, not the EPA. And she WON the case, and was awarded nearly ten grand. I wonder what sort of legal precedent this could set. What's to stop anyone who gets lower mileage than the manufacturer advertises (which is basically everyone) from suing the manufacturer and winning their case? 6. Get rid of the emblems, smooth it out and build a street rod.
  7. Ok, this is now locked. What started out as a legitimate suggestion somehow turned into a Cranky-bashing. I have no idea why a certain few of you are so intent on making sure we all know how much you dislike Virgil and/or his building style. The amount of hostility and pettiness from a few of you towards him is really unbelievable. Don't like him? Don't like his building style? That's fine! Nobody ever held a gun to your heads and forced you to to look at any of his posts. If you are so bothered by him and his work, if you think he posts too much... whatever...why not just ignore him instead of acting like babies with the useless trash talk? I think a few of you guys are truly in need of an attitude adjustment. Trying to hold a rational discussion with a few of you is apparently impossible.
  8. Do you ever get the feeling that some people just don't get it?
  9. Exactly! Nothing wrong with a small block... but a big block gets you a lot more better!
  10. Well, like I said, I've heard nothing but good things about Donn's methods. And his results speak for themselves. I figure if he can get that kind of result with enamels, even a die-hard lacquer guy like me might be able to learn a few new tricks!
  11. Nobody said it was broke. Just maybe it could be better...
  12. Have you asked Dave A. about it? Maybe he can do the changeover and you won't have to bother with it.
  13. Hey, if you can show me how to get that kind of finish using enamels... well, more power to ya!
  14. Ok, you win! I'm gonna get me a Donn Yost DVD. PM me. I'll give you my home address and you can send me the DVD. Let me know where to send the check.

Andy... wow! That is one beautiful model in every way. Super clean work, fantastic detail... this is a contest winner for sure! You should be very proud of this model. Your building style is immaculate. Rarely do you see a model this clean and crisp. Fantastic work!
  16. Do it. You won't be sorry. Trust me. If you have the skills needed to build one, believe me... it's about as good as it gets as far as model building goes. The satisfaction you'll get from building one is worth the price of admission.
  17. Technically, I don't even have a wallet. Haven't used a wallet since I was a kid. And I think you mean the sciatic nerve, Dr. Wheeler...
  18. Chuck, that is just too cool! Nicely done, as usual. BTW... I say you post this in the car "Under Glass" section, too. This needs to be seen by as many people as possible.
  19. Yeah, I know. I just wondered about his suggestion that I'm too cheap to buy the DVD, when in fact I spend more on one kit than many guys spend on the hobby all year.
  20. I admit, I've heard nothing but good stuff about your DVD. Might just spring for one... But "get off my wallet?" You do know that I build mostly Pocher kits, right? Not exactly the "el-cheapo" way to enjoy the hobby...
  21. I wonder why? Poor sales? Personal reasons? I always thought that Slixx was the 800 pound gorilla of aftermarket decals. When the big gun goes out of business, you have to wonder why...
  22. I wish I could paint half as good as that purple Camaro!
  23. Well, somebody better do it if the car was supposed to be street-legal.
