  1. Exactly. But I know it seems like a waste of perfectly good paint to do that! I mean, with "hobby paints" now going for 5-6 bucks per 3 ounces, I'd bet a lot of people don't want to waste any of that expensive paint. It's probably cheaper to keep an old glass baby food or pickle jar with some appropriate thinner and a few spare spray nozzles from empty cans in there, to use as spares if the nozzle gets clogged. (and of course, if the nozzle does get clogged it goes into the bottle of thinner and becomes a new "spare."
  2. I'm not so sure that spraying paint while smoking is a good idea...
  3. You almost always can find lower prices online.
  4. The bottoms of spray cans are shaped the way they are to help hold in the pressure inside the can... but if you overheat the can and the pressure increases too much, the contents will want to expand somewhere, and that somewhere is the can bottom popping out under too much pressure for it to hold back. The paint seeping out below the spray nozzle is due to a partially clogged nozzle. When you push down the nozzle, if it's not clear enough to let the paint flow, the paint will find another escape route... and that's between the stem of the nozzle and the top of the can. But that yellow goop (propellant?) leaking out at the bottom? That seems like a manufacturing defect, not "user error," and I would think that Testor's owes you a refund. I would call them and ask; it can't hurt to try.
  5. There is no military draft here, it's all volunteer, so nobody is making anyone fight anywhere. I agree that if you are man enough to fight a war at 18, and man enough to vote at 18, then you should also be allowed to buy a beer at 18. But the laws are not always perfect or logical. The whole "no spray paint under 18" rule is in effect because many kids buy the stuff to either get high on, or to vandalize other people's property with. Do all kids do that? Of course not, but there is no way to have a law banning spray paint to those under 18 that applies only to some people under 18 and not to others.
  6. Nice job... but why the pegboard on the back wall? I'd go with a strip of those under-cabinet halogen lights (the kind that go under the upper kitchen cabinets).
  7. Most all search functions work via keywords. You type in a word or two describing what you're looking for, and you get all the results that contain those words. Google (a world-class "search function") works the same way. No search engine will give exactly the one thing, and only that one thing, that you're searching for. Johnny, if you have a better solution (instead of just a smart-alec remark), we'd love to hear it. Maybe you can spend some time writing the code for the perfect search engine instead of complaining about the one we have?
  8. The Search function isn't limited to a year. It works by key words, like most all search functions. And you can click on "Ascending" or "Descending" to put the search results in order either from newest to oldest post, or vice versa.
  9. Hey... that's not a bad idea! Recycle those sprues.
  10. Around here selling spray paint to anyone under 18 is illegal. Don't blame the clerk, he didn't make the law. Blame the kids who buy spray paint and use it to get high or to vandalize other people's property. They're the ones that caused the law to be written.
  11. I agree with Mark... homemade filler (melted sprue) is a terrible filler. It will still be drying (and shrinking and cracking and causing all sorts of problems under your beautifully painted model) long after you thought it was "dry." If you don't like nasty surprises weeks or months down the road, don't use it! Use a stable, chemically set (two-part) filler instead.
  12. Wow! Amazing!
  13. If I want a cheap source of protein I'll have some baked beans, not a giant water bug!!!
  14. Remember the Cowardly Lion in the Wizard of Oz... when they were in the poppy field and the Wicked Witch made it snow? He said "Interesting weather we're having!" That statement would apply here today. It was 56! On January 6th!!!
  15. That's more than just your opinion, that's fact. DM is state-of-the-art (at least, their new tools). FM is playing catch up... and not too well.
  16. Basically, yes. It's nothing more than a "customized" Corvette.
  17. There are quite a few "only one in existence" cars... so this one is no rarer than any of the other one-of-a-kinds.
  18. I agree with Greg. If you don't say anything... who in the world would ever know?
  19. Well, it doesn't get any closer than this! Final vote: 36 REAL, 37 MODEL. Close... but I win!!! It's REAL!
  20. Yeah... but it's a dry heat!
  21. That's nice! Love the taillights!
