  1. That's a great looking truck Bruce.
  2. Nice save on that '34 Tudor Randy. Whose casting was that with so many pinholes??
  3. Jim, that looks really good in Black. Nice job.
  4. Yes James, they are decals but I don't remember what kit they are from. I store all of my decals in a large ziplock baggie and they're all mixed up and lots of cut up bits and pieces.
  5. That's a great looking car Drew, and I love the color combo.
  6. I'll pick up Hemmings Classic Car Mag. when I go to B&N now and then, along with a few other car mags, but I haven't been there in a while. Hemmings has dynamite detail pictures for great reference material.
  7. That's a great looking Edsel Scott.
  8. That's a really nice looking car John.
  9. Yeah Al, I've had that happen. I always rifle through a new kit when I get it and make mental notes of cool parts in it that I can possibly use on future projects. A lot of times when a new kit comes out that I really like I'll get 2 of them so I can build one and rob parts from the other.
  10. This is pretty cool and interesting. Click Here
  11. I usually have just used either flat paints, rubbed a bit to get a vinyl like sheen, or semi-gloss paints for the same effect. I've also used gloss paints if I couldn't find the right colors in flat paints, but then give them a coat of dullcoat to knock down the shine. For textured seats I use mostly flocking in various colors, and I've tried masking tape trimmed to size for a different texture. Tom Geiger had a good suggestion for simulating a burlap finish by using the napkins from Taco Bell glued down with thinned Elmer's Glue. Another Forum member suggested using a type of bandage wrapping cut to size. I'm sure you will get a lot of other good ideas and suggestions from Forum members here.
  12. Yeah, that thing makes a wood chipper look like a dull butter knife, which it certainly is not.
  13. That looks really great Al. I've got one of these kits in my "To Do" pile for my "Class of '59". Nice job.
  14. ...... and what was it that happened...???
  15. I think something like this has been posted before but I thought this was pretty cool. It grinds up whole cars and engine blocks..!! http://devour.com/video/car-grinder My brother-in-law sent this to me saying that this would be something for the next model that doesn't come out right... LOL.
  16. Congratulations to everyone who either won something at any of the Shows, or had their models pictured in the magazine...... That's even better than winning an award...... as a matter of fact it IS like getting an award..!!
  17. My copy arrived in today's mail in perfect condition.
  18. My brother just called to tell me that he got the package, and that he absolutely LOVES the model. I'm very happy that it arrived in good condition, and that he is happy with it. I could almost hear him smiling over the phone.
  19. Harry, that is exactly how I felt when my oldest daughter had my grandson (who will be 3 on May 12th) Congratulations to you Harry. Now you'd better start stocking up on Snap Kits to both make for him to play with, and then to build with him when he gets old enough. You'll enjoy the heck out of it.
  20. I know that everyone always says "It's only a number" but tell that to your body and its parts that wind up being less "efficient" than they once were. Vision gets worse, teeth come loose or worse, hair falls out and what is left turns gray and/or white, back aches, knee and other joint pains, digestive issues, heart irregularities...... It seems that the higher the number of your age, the more issues you seem to develop and sometimes unexpectedly discover. I was scheduled to have Cataract surgery on my left eye on Wednesday, 3/19, but after getting the EKG that the eye doctor requested, I was informed this morning that I have Atrial Fibrillation which cancelled the procedure until further details and info can be obtained by a Cardiogram, plus I now get to take yet another prescription Med. called Pradaxa to avoid possibly having another stroke. Yes I use an Optivisor for close up work and it helps me immensely. I got bifocals at 43 years of age and it didn't bother me at all. I'd been wearing glasses since I was 6 years old so it was no big deal to me especially if it was going to help me see better. I'll be 67 in 2 weeks and physically, things sometimes just seem to go progressively downhill, however, mentally I am still in my 20's (well.... maybe my 40's...LOL) but at least I opened my eyes this morning so it started out as a good day. Don't let the "number" get to you. That's when you'll start to mentally either "give up or give in" which will NOT be a good thing. All us old farts have to hang in there and build all of the stuff we've been accumulating...!!! I certainly don't want to "see" all my "treasures" put out for a Garage Sale for 50 cents apiece.... !!! Please...... everyone stay well.
  21. James, where did you get your "go to" Emos...?
  22. Cool snake...!!! I'm a J.D. lover myself.
  23. That's really sweet looking Joe.
  24. That's a great looking Rod Walter, your friend should love it.
  25. I've also had several over the years that I really loved and wouldn't mind still having if I was still driving...... '67 Ford Galaxie (My first car) '71 Plymouth Satellite (the body was falling apart but the 318 engine and the tranny were indestructible) '74 Chrysler Newport (I got my first speeding ticket in that car) '86 Chevy Caprice (the car burned to the ground in front of my house from a gas line leak on the engine) and last, but not least, my baby... '59 Dodge Coronet.
