Thank you for all of the kind comments!

When I was a kid, my dad had a large scale ‘57 Chevy vert sitting on a shelf  the doors, hood, and trunk opened.  It was really cool, I was never allowed to touch it!  He also had a large scale C2 Corvette that the lights worked - wasn’t allowed near that one either.

As a kid, I’d never seen him build a car model though, his passion for most of his life were RC planes. Cool memories of going to the airfield with him.   Those guys taught me how to pour a draft beer at a young age…..

Got the Vette cleaned up and a light polish.  Applied some BMF where it needed and glued the steering wheel back on.   I didn’t realize that the shifter was missing.  I’ll have to source one from the parts box

Once he hit a certain age, he couldn’t fly the RC planes as well, and started building the models in this thread.

Thanks for following along.   I’ll update this thread when I pick the next one.

Detail these models from your father and display them in a way honoring him.

  2. I used to have to chase the snow blower around the driveway a few times every winter. We downsized and we have maintenance provided. They're so quiet that they don't even wake us up in the morning and they clean the walks and the front stoup. Ran into the couple that bought our old snow blower at the market in the spring after we sold the old house. He had been dragging his feet about buying it since he was young and thought nothing of shoveling a couple of feet of snow by hand. He and his wife thanked us profusely after we had had one of the larger snows in a long time that winter.

Roundabouts are becoming popular over here with "traffic engineers", and lotsa drivers seem to have no clue how to negotiate one.

Some of the locals here have taken it upon themselves to drive straight across the round abouts here. Most seem to be driving larger lifted 4x4 pickups or some sort of large SUVs.

Our family had a Cabin in Hayward WI on Lac Courte Oreilles. My dad, Uncle George, and Aunt Rose would rotate years. The 1959 Furry was the first car that I can remember. Lack of modern Hi-ways made this an 8-hour trip. This Fury is the same color as my dad's.

This Jetstar 88 was so big that my dad put a piece of plywood in the back so that me and my brother could sleep during the trip. This Jetstar is the same color as my dad's

Your local in Hayward Wi. reminds me of a long-ago experience.  The C&NW Railroad, Chicago and Northwestern RR, had a run north out of Chicago too northern Wisconsin that I have ridden on in the past. This is when the Conductor would walk thru the cars and announce the next train stations. The one I remember the best, I thought it was funny, "Hayward, Hurly and Hell next stop" Interesting history in the area during the early logging days long ago.

Little story behind that green '66 Galaxie, for $6,500, it was almost my Gal, but calling the owner he said he had some one lookin' at it ten minutes before us, so we were waiting around outside with the phone waiting for a call back then we see the car drive past our house (the car was only a little ways away) So the guy called back sayin' the other dude bought it. I mean it had a 289, not a 390, but it was still a nice car. Looking at it when I got the photos, my dad suspected a little bondo on the lower areas but it was such an immaculate paint job covering it.

Looks pretty nice in the pictures. Not knocking it but it reminds me of a NARC car from days of old.

  6. Built this kit in much the same manor a few years ago and used the kits Cadillac engine with a parts box mechanical fuel injection setup that cleared the hood. These 1:1 Fords were popular in a lot of gas classes for their light weight and affordability.

10 inches of snow so far today.

When I was up with the dog at 2am, it wasn't snowing yet.

    And it's still coming down.

    Highways are a mess.

But I'm one of those oddballs that likes snow. Took the pup out for a walk at the lake so she can bounce in the snow. She likes burying her face in snow for some reason.

And then of course, get home and it's a hot chocolate with Baileys. :)

Been a good day. Even though I've had to shovel twice.

Had a Lab that would do the same thing in the snow. I share you love of a warm toddy.
