WIP 84 Candies&Hughes funny car 1/24
MoparMark replied to MoparMark's topic in WIP: Drag Racing Models
I have an update for my build. Oh by the way thanks to all for all the great support.I did think about making the front axel movable but I'll do that on the next one. So anyway I put in the Mag and the oil filters in (supplied by Pro-Tech). Got the seat pad and seatbelts put in. I ran the front fire bottle cables in ans well as the extinguisher lines I attached the cockpit bottles above the rear axel as a guess as they would go there ,for I can't see them in reference photos on the interior boby tin, hope I'm right? I added all the side levers into the cockpit and now that I have all the braided line and hex fittings I need from Pro-Tech I can plumb the engine and get ready to drop it in.Thanks for lookin -

Hi all , Posting a new build of the 84 C&H car.I'm gonna be using the Revell/Monogram trans am kit and the Slixx decals. I've passed it too many times at the NHRA museum saying I gotta give that a shot, so here it starts. For the body I've shaved off the rear spoiler of the Prudhomme Wendys car and pulled out the nose of the car to give it more of a point. I've started already on the frame painting it Arctic Blue Metallic with a pinch of magenta, adding fuel cell, front suspension, rear axel, and roll bar padding, seat, and some engine work done I'm using Pro-Tech plug wires and will use Pro-Tech braided line and hex nuts to plumb the car so it can look as accurate as can be. Thanks for looking!!

Nice work, looks fantastic!

What worked for me was I painted the panels and fuel cell with aluminum paint then with clearcoat lacquer and then the decals on top of that. Finished off with a clear coat with a little amber in it. Hope this helps.

Al Hanna's Eastern Raider Pinto funny car

That looks sweet, just the right amount of body tweaking. How does the Comp Resins Pinto stack up to this one? -

Fantastic ........great job , cant wait to get ahold of these -
Thanks everyone for the great responses. To answer a few questions both cars are 1/25 and the tinwork is a clear decal I made that is applied over aluminum painted panels then a slight clear coat of lacquer with a little transparent amber in it. Thanks again.

Hey I just got these done recently , yes I'm sure everyone in here has built there own Nancy rear engine so I finally got around to doing mine. It's all mostly stock except for the body skin which I made a vaccuform one piece body instead of the never fitting panels that are in the kit. Also the rear wheels are a little bigger and I made correct wing struts that attach to the top of the bell housing. The Ivo car, I couldn't resist making a car I wanted to make a log time ago. Thanks for looking.

Thank you kindly Vernon, hope to win somethin soon

The body I got from Greg Fox on Ebay and I did the tie dye effect by painting the panels aluminum and then i made clear decals that go on top of the aluminum as well as the gas tank
-
Yeah that's great ,didn't know the body has a cutout on the bottom edge of the bumper. I think I can figure out the front axel with this pic. thanks Mark
-
Yeah I tried that and 90% of them are pics of the Cuda and most of those are of the new nostalgia car so I;m still hunting

Would anyone possibly have pics of the chassis and engine area ? I would think that the 84 chassis would be pretty close as well and thats in Garlits museum in Florida.Didn't want to bother anyone but this is a plea of last resort. Thanks in advance!.And yes I did get in trouble at the Pomona museum for trying to lift the body up for a quick look see.

Just want to say thanks to Chuck Boerne for really great decals, and to Greg Fox for really good resin to put them on. I've been wanting to build this car for quite awile. I will need to pick up his Black Stange decals to put the car next to my Black Magic car

tie dye decals for tinwork
MoparMark replied to MoparMark's topic in Car Aftermarket / Resin / 3D Printed
Thanks for the comments. It's one of those little details that that just may make someone's project a little more true to the 1:1 car. Thanks again. -

Hi All, Just wanted to inform everyone that I've made a tie dye decal sheet for 1/25th funny car chassis and interior tinwork that was popular for some 70's funny cars. It's a 8.5in.x 5.5 in. sheet that can do 2-3 chassis and tinwork depending on how you cut it.Also there are smaller portions that will cover fuel cells and bottom rails on the chassis. I have Sepia,Red, Blue And Grey colors to choose from. I have them currently listed on Ebay. I will also have them for 1/16th scale as well. It's printed on clear decal paper so a good aluminum base will shine through it pretty good. Hope this will help some of you guys out with a project in mind. Thanks.

Yeah, Thanks for the info. I was meaning funny car body.I've seen bodies from Comp Resins and Good Stuff , are they re-pops of the Revell kit or enhanced from something else?I do agree that Amt has a good street version.
-
Just want to get a general consencus of who makes the most accurate Monza body. The Revell body I have seems to me to be a little wide, but not knowing the 1:1 width I'd be guessing

Looks fantastic ,That's how it shuuda been done
