Beautiful little Deuce Josh! I love the "tri-carbs"! They look great on this car! Great color too!

Mike, Yes...it started out as the "Craftsmanship Series" curbside model. I have to admit that I actually enjoyed the engineering aspect of getting everything to fit as if it should. I must have test fit everything at least a dozen times prior to installing the engine and other details. One of the last things to go in was the front radiator housing. The battery and washer bottles had to be glued on first and then the housing slid into place. Even after all of the test fitting, I still made one slight mistake, but I don't think that any one would notice it. Thanks to everyone for all of the kind comments. Ron...you knock me out man! I hope you had a kleenex handy!

Really nice Dan! I love the rims, and clutter. The photos taken in the sunlight gives the scene an incredibly realistic look.

Beautiful looking "Land Yacht" Guy! Nice work on the roof, and the wheels, and stance give it a bit of a "resto-mod" look.

Nice lookin' Nova Kyle. Great color, and nice job on the vinyl roof.

Nice build Alan. I too like the red-lines, and the color is a great choice.

Great lookin' car Jeff! Clean build and "the funky" decals look pretty good to me!

Another fantastic build John! I'm not much into pink, but I've got to hand it to you, you did this color justice with the highlights. I love the beer mug on the center council! Ya' gotta have something to empty that keg into!

Really nice work Tom. Beautiful model! Must have been a hassle after arresting someone and having no back door to throw them through. "Please watch your head as you get in".

Thanks for the comments Guys, and yeah Lee, it is a pretty cool story. Her reaction was far from what her father thought it would be.

Thanks for the kind words Guys. Charlie, the garage diorama is scratchbuild and is in the "Diorama" section under, "Backyard Garage". The diorama for this '64 Malibu is also in that section under "'64 Chevelle Malibu SS - "The Perfect Day".

Back in May of last year a good friend asked if I would build a replica of his '64 Chevelle Malibu SS to give to his daughter this past Christmas. Both he and his daughter spent two years building the 1:1 version. That time spent together built a very strong bond between the both of them. As my buddy was forty-eight years old at the time, and his 1:1 is the same age. I wanted to use a forty-eight year old AMT kit as a starting point. Luckily a built-up one became available on Ebay and I was able to pick it up for a reasonably decent price. Of course he wanted it built with a SB 350. So using the frame from an AMT '65 El Camino and a SB 350 from a Revell '69 Nova SS I was on my way. Replacement hood and Chrome came from Modelhaus. Both of these kits also donated other parts as needed. As well as various other after market suppliers, part-box and some scratchbuilding rounded out the build. Earlier today I posted a few photos of the 1:1 on "On the Workbench" and a few of the finished car in the diorama that I built for the car to be displayed in the "Diorama" section. When my buddy gave the diorama to his daughter, she's twenty seven, on Christmas day. She cried...said he was the "best Dad ever", and that it would be a "constant reminder of the time they spent on building the car". He also has two other grown children who said, with no hint of sarcasm, "Thanks.....Dad!" Thanks for looking!

I was asked by a good friend to build a replica of his '64 Chevelle Malibu to present to his daughter as a Christmas gift this past Christmas. He and his daughter had spent a couple of years working on the car together and he wanted her to have a model of it. In making some inquiries as to what her "likes and dislikes" were, he stated that she loves the beach, likes "Coke" and "Doritos". So since these items are available to the modeler it was easy to incorporate them into a little diorama. I wanted to do something special as opposed to just a model displayed in a plastic case. Any of the 1/25th or 1/18th display cases work well for this sort of thing, and they can be covered to keep out dust. This was built to fit a 1/18th case. I posted some photos in "Under Glass" of the 1:1 car, and the model as it was being built. The materials used for the beach were from Woodland Scenics for the gravel. All of the little details came from Jeff at Flatheads Garage. I'm not sure what has become of him. He used to sell on Ebay, but I haven't seen him in a year or so. The sand (sifted three times), driftwood, and shells (the largest being a scale 4") came from Oak Island, North Carolina. My favorite place! As I have had some problems with downloading photos from Photobucket. I have loaded these from my files. Hope they turn out OK!

I started this thread back in September, but somehow blew it off. So I'm going to try and post some photos of the 1:1 car and the model during it's build. I built this at the request of a friend who wanted to give it to his oldest daughter this past Christmas. A few years ago. she spent two years working on the 1:1 with here Dad. So he wanted to have a model of the car. She'll probably get the 1:1 in the end. I have had problems with trying to download photos from Photbucket, and I'm sure that it is user error as I hadn't had any problems in the past. So hopefully I can get a few loaded from out of my files. If anyone knows and has any suggestions as to the above problem. Please let me know, as I would like to get back to contributing to this forum

Ya know Dan, I keep coming back to this over, and over, and over again, and again. This is amazing. It looks as if the damage may have been a good thing. As some of the improvements seem to have come from being forced to rebuild it. Your tips and guidence on how you constructed this have answered many questions that I had. So, in a short time I'm going to finally tackle a project that has been bouncing around in my head for the last few years. It's builders such as yourself, Chuck Doan, Darryl Huffman and many more, as well as the efforts of Model Cars Magazine, and this great web-site that are an inspiration to a lot of us. Thanks! By the way. I recently ordered some parts from you for a couple of builds that I'm working on, and as soon as I figure out on what I need for this "back alley" thing I'll be getting some more. You do some really nice castings! Thanks again, Mark

Blair, this car has a lot of character. Beautiful paint work and engine detail. The body work, chop and roof angle is impressive. How in the world did you get such a radical angle? After looking at the photos a few times, it reminds me of the "Wile E. Coyote" model. You need to get that and pull the figure out of the kit to pose next to this. This is cool!

Very nice Blair! Really cool! I love the flathead.

Great job Ron! I was wondering what one of these looked like built up, and it looks like you did it up right. I love the color.
