  1. Roy, All I can say is WOW! You are doing a fantastic job of scratch building and kit bashing your 1/16 scale KW Aerodyne Cabover
  2. Brian, Very nice strap detail on the fuel tank. Your build is looking great
  3. Leo, I'm with you, I'd really like to see Round 2 bring back both the 4070A and the Transtar II cabovers.
  4. Hi Donavon, I remember the 3 piece cab being a little tough to line up, but that's why they make body putty
  5. Hi Jacobus, Thank you for the tip on the front axle
  6. Hi Mike, Watching all of these great builds, I just had to get my feet wet again So off to the hobby shop I went and picked up a couple of the Retro AMT truck models. Working on the kit and listening to the radio just like I did so many years ago, is bringing back a lot of fond memories. Progress has been a little slow because of my work schedule and the heat. I'll be sure to upload progress shots to keep everyone posted.
  7. Hello Group, I've been inspired with all of these great build going on and have picked up a few Retro Deluxe AMT kits from Round 2. The kit I choose for my first build after 35 years is the White Freight Liner Retro Deluxe AMT kit from Round 2. I'm taking my time with this build as it's bringing back a lot of great memories Ever since day one I've always done the build in sheet order, so I've started on the engine first and when I get a little more done I'll try to upload a few progress shots.
  8. Very nice build David, I also like the Coke machine your LoneStar is sitting on, does it still work? Not to steal your thread, but that is when Coke use to taste great, when it came out of one of those machines ice cold in a glass bottle
  9. Here is a site on Flicker that features some car haulers http://www.flickr.com/photos/carhaul/sets/72157622643131295/
  10. I agree with Anton, you'll want to start with the GMC 9500 short hood from AITM http://www.aitruckmodels.com/pages/ck25gmc9500shortnose.html Back when I was running the road, there was company called Leaseway Transportation that originally had the GMC 9500's. I'm not sure what year, but they started replacing the fleet with volvo whites. Good luck with your project, looking forward to seeing your work in progress photos'.
  11. Leo, Thanks for the update, I guess both the KFS Road Commander 2 and the Ford CL9000 are no longer available from this company. Maybe they will re-run a few of these out of stock kits?
  12. Does anyone have any info on this model? http://www.modelcarsmag.com/forums/index.php?showtopic=40494&#entry492311
  13. Jim, Do you have an updated address for Rick Mark. The address I have (www.rnk.conversions.com) returns a 404 page not found.
  14. Not sure what White Motors called the paint scheme on the left, but I always thought that was a good looking scheme. Has anyone ever worked with Dave Natale at AITM to get a truck cab produced?
  15. Thanks Justin for the update.
  16. Hi Brian, Looking good I really like the addition of the brake lines, I think that really adds to the model I did notice one little problem though with your brake lines The front drive axle only has brake chambers, meaning they should only have one air line per chamber and that line is connected to the service brake petal. The rear axle has spring brakes, so each chamber should have two lines, one line releases the spring brake and is connected to the yellow button in the cab, the other line is connected to the service brake petal. The brake chambers on the front axle should also have only one brake line. Other than that small little problem, the model is looking great and I can't wait to see pictures of the finished model
  17. Hi Leo, Slightly off topic question, have you had any problems with Hanks Truck pictures web site? According to my Malwarebytes Anti-Malware utility program, Hanks website is listed as having malware?
  18. Hi Ray, it's good to see another fellow Pennsylvanian on the forum. Not trying to steal your thread Mike and like Ray said not only is the model looking great, but the back story is heart warming as well.
  19. Mike, Great Job, the KW is looking fantastic. I'm going by memory which can be a little fuzzy at times, but I'm thinking the pull straps on the KW doors were always black leather. If you already have the interior in the cab I would not worry about that little detail. Great job on the instrument panel, I'm guessing you dry brushed the rims of the gauges? Does the model come with the air brake blocks for the rear axles, or are you just making them from scrap pieces of plastic? The AB lines really make the model, keep up the great work.
  20. George, that is a great looking model. On a side note, Union Pacific once owned Overnite Transportation. At one time most railroads owned trucking companies to pickup and deliver LTL freight. When TOFC became popular, the railroads trucking companies would pickup and deliver company trailers at local industries. The Penn Central railroads trucking company was called the "Pennsylvania Truck Lines" and they had U Model Mack Day Cabs and Ford LNT 8000 day cabs, painted in the PC green paint scheme.
  21. Hi jacobus, It looks like you are off to a great start. Keep us posted on your progress.
  22. Thanks Jim for the email address
  23. Hi Barry, That visor and truck looks great, unfortunately for me, my spare parts went by the wayside 35 years ago
  24. JIm, do you have a link for GW Trucks? I tried doing a search and all I got was a link for 1:1 scale parts
  25. Hi Matt, How do you like driving for Werner?
