  1. Vince, thats a GREAT build! I'm originally from South Jersey, and saw many modifieds just like this run at several local dirt tracks,i am curious about the body,is it resin? or did you do the mods?..................................Mark

  2. Thanks Snake! musta' missed that post early on,the project I am doing will be this car, owned by "The Boss" Bruce Springsteen,my cousin was a roadie for the E-Street band for several decades, and this car will be a gift for him, consigned by my uncle, only problem is my area of expertise is trucks! Lol! just I need to get started looking for the appropriate kit to get started!.............................Mark

  3. Not being familiar with Corvette kits I appreacieate all the helpful input, one more question, can someone tell me if an "up" top (convertible, not hardtop) is included in any of these kits? I received the pictures today for a build for my cousin as a gift and the car pictured has a convertible top.......................thanks in advavnce!....................Mark

  4. Sam,the recently re-released White-Freightliner C.O.E would be your best starting point, much easier to find (and cheaper) then the single axle. Some modifications will be nessesary, single axle, single headlights etc. As far as the two trucks pictured, from what I know the green truck is the "old" color scheme, white the red and white was the newer style adopted just before C-F went under. Consolodated Freightways is where Freightliner trucks originated, they wanted a truck built to their specs. so they built their own!...............................Mark

  5. Very nice build! I have the same kit on-deck (the MPC "Bearcats" edition) just lacking the wheels and tires. I want to do it very similar to yours and was wondering the best way to attempt the pinstripes on the hood and fenders, got a pretty good idea how to proceed now!.....................................................Mark

  6. The RL/RS series are my favorite Macks, growing up in a family of Mack owners and operators,my alltime favorite is the late Bob Ecksteins RL-700L one of two RL-7955's ever built with a factory Caterpillar engine,he also owned the other one (the blue one) which was recently for sale. Once I get a few more builds under my belt,my first resin conversion will be this truck!.........................................Mark

  7. Thank you all for the replies and advice! looks like the Revell kit is the way I may go,i've seen them pretty reasonable on the bay, just not real familiar with the differences in Corvette model years, this is a project for a family member, and doesn't need to be 100% correct,as lond as it captures the look and "feel" of the 1:1 car............................................Mark

  8. Purple Power works great to remove paint, just remember to wear gloves when using it,and it will also strip chrome,if that doesn't work the next best thing I've used is Easy-Off oven cleaner (the yellow can),nasty stuff, but works great also. Gloves and eye protection are MANDATORY when using it,best used outside too if possible.............................Mark

  9. I have an up-coming project that requires a 1960 Corvette, and being as I primarilly build trucks,i was wondering which of the two kits available is the "better" kit? the AMT or Revell? more accurate, better detail, ease of assembly etc? opinions welcome...............................Thanks in advance!......................Mark

  10. I agree with the others, that is a pretty ambitious paintjob for even a seasoned painter,a lot of prep, layout, masking and so-forth. For a first-time paintjob. My suggestion would be to practice, practice, practice, till you get the "basics" down before attempting a job like this..........................................Mark
