Scale I Build

  1. After a total cock up with the paint (I'm new to airbrushing..), which resulted in wet sanding back to primer, I figured out by how much I needed to thin decanted spray paint. I'm reasonably happy with it, except there was a warp in the chassis that only reared its ugly head during final assembly. Therefore, the bug catcher fouls the side of the hood opening. Oh well. Another lesson learned. I added a throttle arm, spring and some fuel lines, to give the engine a bit of detail. I used AK interactive true metal paint on some parts. It's very good.
  2. This is my entry for this years Cannonball. After so many in-completes, my goal this year, is keep the amount of custom work to a minimum so I actually finish the model in the 11 months allotted. So the plan, 1. Engine swapped to a single turbo 225 slant six, with a modern automatic tranny from an AMT 5.7L hemi. 2. Wheel / tires from the AMT Phantom Vickie 3. Bumpers from the Monogram '37 Ford coupe 4. Paint and assemble That's it. Here's where I'm at. Hope you like it. I'm kicking around a hydro dipped paint job, because I've always wanted to, and with wraps in the 1:1 world, literally anything is possible on a car.
  3. 41 willys pickup, 41 ford woody, cord fenders for rear fenders, tilted rear pilar forward so it didnt look so much like a ford, thanx then way later i came across a real car at lake havasu car show
  4. I bought this a while ago, but I've only just got around to building it. I liked the look of the lace decals, even though the lace is a tad out-of-scale. Gold and purple always go well together, so I used purple candy over a silver base. The horrible kit wheels were replaced with some from a Polar Lights funny car. Now, I've heard it said that this kit has one of the worst Ford SOHC engines in 1/25, so I decided to pep it up a bit. I added resin pulley wheels, intake, oil filter and gear linkage. I also added a Mallory ignition module and rear disc brakes. The engine had no magneto, so I made one that looks kinda like a Vertex. A Detail Master 5-point harness and a fire extinguisher were added to the interior. I had to lift the pickup bed a bit to stop the rear arches rubbing the tyres. A note to anyone who plans to build this kit...The front axle is set too far back. The rear edges of the tyres would foul on the bodywork. I know some guys re-position the leaf springs, but I'd already painted the chassis and installed the axle before I realized my error. Luckily, I'd only fixed the front axle on with CA glue, so it came apart easily and I was able to fit it in a better position with epoxy. The kit decals were dead tricky. They seemed to stick fast, on contact with the paint. I managed to get them all on, but it was a sweaty hour. 'nuff blurb.. Here are the pics: Comments appreciated Hope you like it Thanks for looking
  5. This is the new 1/18 scale 41 Willys by Acme in kit form. It is a high detailed model so it has lots of parts, although some are pre-assembled. The diecast frame has the rear axle assembly installed and the front springs. The front axle is assembled including wheels and tires. Both engines are partially assembled as well. Options choices: Blown Hemi Engine or Small block Chevy Tube front axle or dropped beam front axle. (requires changing the riveted spindles) 41 Willys rear bumper or chrome push bar Five spoke rear mags or slotted mags Two, three or four point roll bar Once I get my 32 Chevy finished Ill get started and go into more detail. If you have any question before that fell free to ask. You can also click on the photo to see more photos.
