2 years ago I acquired a bunch of builtup kits mainly for parts - among them was this ultra-rare ESCI Montecarlo turbo kit - at first glance it looked almost complete and I ordered some decals for the 1980 DRM (= Deutsche Rennsport Meisterschaft/German Racing Championship) winning car of former European touring car champion Hans Heyer, beating Hans Joachim Stuck in his BMW 320 turbo for the title. This is the original kit (internet picture) This arrived per mail: When I found out that several parts were missing, I went for a curbside and glued the engine cover shut. Missing parts like mirrors, wheel hubs and wiper came from the parts box, wheels and glass were intact. After disassembling and stripping the paint, it was sprayed with Tamiya TS10 French Blue. I added wire mesh in front of the rear wheels, the wing supports and in the back above the exhaust pipes. Front spoiler struts and tow hook were made from steel wire, Dzus fasteners came from a MCG photo-etched sheet, decals from Patto's place and Sam's diecast art. This is the final result:
